Hello.
I'm LuckyStar, and I'm making a Kirby and the Amazing Mirror TAS.
There's a lot to say but it's very long, so I summarised the main parts of it.
After many trials, I finally reached a completion time of 0:30:08.
However, there are a lot of places which are unoptimised, so I'm not claiming this is a finished product.
So I'm posting my work and I'd dearly love for everyone to help with plans and suggestions for improvement.
Below is my Kirby and the Amazing Mirror any% run, at 0:30:08.
(I used the Japanese version ROM, so there will be playback errors if you dont have it. In that case I also provided Youtube links for you to watch.)

From playing other FF games in Japanese, about 80% of all the in-battle tet you need to know will be in katakana. That's all character and monster names, all spells and abilities and items, etc. There are occasionally things in hiragana, but kanji aren't used in battle menus, only in dialogue.
Most katakana words in Japanese are imported from another language, usually English, so you should be able to figure out what something means with a little effort.
Also, I don't know if this is true for X-2, but for most Final Fantasy games there's usually a JIS guide on GameFAQs which translates menus and the like so you're not totally without resources.

Youshould learn katakana. It's the most useful for playing Japanese RPGs, since most character, location names, attacks, magic, etc will be written in katakana.

I havet watched this run, so I won't comment. But as far as entertainment due to variety is concerned, maybe someone should run the GBA remake of this game, which has about three times as many "normal" moves.

The Elitist Ego Syndrome - If you're on a board which advocates a specific game (or a series of games), and the game has multiple difficulty levels, the board's users will not take you seriously if you do not play on the hardest difficulty.

The only games I know of where you can make your own magic spells and name them whatever are Kartia and Wild Arms, both PSX titles,, but I guess the system for creating inventions in RoboTREK is similar? I don't know.
I'd be interested in trying out the game if you ever find what it was and it's good, though.

recently Sony upgraded the latest firmware to let their portable console PS1 retro-compatible.
How?
I've seen reports of people using Capcom games to play (almost) any PSX game by using ISOs and homebrew apps so they load the emulator and then a different game than expected, but there's no place to put a CD so I don't see how Sony could make an official one.

I don't get it. If a game is a port it's somehow worse than an original? Why would that be?
It's not worse. I'm just saying that every single PSP game I'm interested in, I already own on some other platform. That is, there are no PSP-exclusive games that I want to play right now. This is not true for the DS.

I don't really like the DS except for certain games. The DS Lite is better by about 10,000x bu the system could be a lot better. We're only recently seeing good games for it, so I'm still hopeful for the future, but right now I like it only for a few certain games and for some features it shares with the PSP (namely, wireless internet play). But the major reason I like the DS more than the PSP is that the DS has games I don't already own on it that I want to play. Eventually, once the price drops on the Ceramic White, I'll buy a PSP and all the games for it that I already own (like Gradius, Salamander, Parodius, Rockman, Rockman X, Dracula X, FFT, Disgaea, etc) but until then I'm satisfied with games like Rockman ZX, Ouendan, Portrait of Ruin, Hotel Dusk, etc.

I really like this series (the first SFC Ganabre Goemon is one of the best two-player games on SFC ever) but I haven't played 3 or 4,,, I can't help at all ^_^;;
I'll be sure to watch your walkthrough video to see what I've missed ^^

This is me playing Low-G-Man, a game that a lot of people dislike, probably because of the poor animation (enemies confrom to an 8x8 grid so all the animation is super choppy).
This game is really fun but also really really hard.. I don't remember ever being able to beat the last boss, even on loop 1! This video doesn't even get that far, only to stage 3-4 (the last world is world 5) where I meet another difficult boss and die a lot.
While I was making this I found a WIP of some TAS of this game with no author information. I dunno who made it but it overtakes my casual play video in less than 8 minutes and continues to stage 5-2. There are a lot of places to improve it, but it's the only thing I've ever seen of anyone aside form me liking or playing the game at all.

Wtf leave the game alone. It was perfectly fine as it was and PSP gives me another reason to not get it. I'll stick with PCE emu.
It does come with the original game you know. Having both Dracula X games portable is worth buying it again. Then again I already own X2 twice and all the games for PSP that I want I already own at least once..

This was my 20th try today (most ended in less than a minute) and the only one to get past the 3rd stage. This one goes all the way to the last boss and then dies, a lot, repeatedly. There's only one more form of the final boss after the furthest one I got to, so this is (almost) the entire game. Also it's only 12 minutes.

I hope Phil and Genisto still continue to make wonderful movies and contribute to the community. Their ability to always unexpectedly find some new way to optimise something already thought solid is amazing.

It's kind of sad that I want to buy a PSP only for games I already own, but if they keep making and remaking my favorite games on other platforms, I really do need the console even just for the portability and homebrew.

Terra, you think so? This is the full size version.. it's really more recognisable with the armor. It's just a messy 5-minute sketch Pink did once and I liked it.
