How about, instead of making an actual video to beat the game, you make a program that will "solve" any chosen level by producing a movie file which enters the password for and then beats that level?

the games leveling your stats up (such as weapons) seems a little fixed... or maybe its the experience system works like SotN... the more experience, the less you gain from weak enemies.
Enemies have levels or something equivalent that tells the game whether to let you increase skills over a certain point against them. Your party members have this hidden statistic too. So it's true you need to fight harder enemies in order to get credit for the encounter. Anyway, bare hands = dead bosses, until you get Blood Sword, then the boss just dies from that. So use Puncher Guy who Casts Spells for most of your party (= Maria and Guy probably) and Sworder guy for one guy (= Firionel probably) + Lionhart when he returns.

I keep trying to get 100% items/plot scenes/best character growth/whatever on my first playthrough of a game, which gets really frustrating sometimes and I give up and forget about the game for months or years. Really I should just play through the game and then play through a second time after I already know a lot about it and then try for 100%.

Yazz Matsuno didn't even have anything to do with OB64, KoL, or Prince of Zenobia (which is NGPC, not Saturn). And yeah, he left Squenix after he got too sick to work on FF12, and now he's developing games for the Wii but we don't know who he works for yet. Squenix might still continue the Ogre series but I think Ogre and FF merged a while ago. EDIT: Also, Square bought Quest after TO, and had them make FFT, then Vagrant Story, etc. So that happened before PoLC and KoL and PoZ too.

Using a favored weapon only gives you a +3 bonus, and you already get a -3 penalty for being in the wrong weather or stepping on the wrong tile - I don't think it's that significant. (meanwhile Archers have a +2 vs everyone for no apparent reason in everything). Beastmasters do more damage, take less damage, and take more turns than Berserkers.. but really most of your army should be Archers with a few other people just for finishing people off. Attack+ is nice, BUT the two attacks only do 70% damage and the second attack is always to the front (so it does even less and it's easier to dodge too). L-size units are entirely worthless in this game.

Is this game in the same series as Ogre Battle?
Yes. The first Ogre Battle game, March of the Black Queen, is Episode V of the Ogre Battle Saga. This game, Let Us Cling Together, is Episode VII, and shares a few of the same characters.

I think Beastmasters are better than Berserkers in every way, and should be used exclusively until Terror Knights are available. For females, Archer is the best Job in the game, by far. It might also be nice to have a Witch in order to paralyse opponents, in which case she should be trained as an Archer as much as possible (spell hit percentage is based on DEX). Aloser, the best unit in the entire game, makes a rather wonderful witch, if you don't want to train one up from scratch, thanks to her advancing from level 1 as Archer (rather than 5 or 6).

GBA is region free, so it doesn't really matter much. Heck, sometimes the USA and EUR releases are identical except the box.
Rather, it has its own display hardware so it doesn't need to work on PAL hardware. Anyway the Z series games are different in Europe (different logos, possibly some voice/music changes, I don't actually know what all changed other than the title screen) so in case there's a significant difference that we don't know about the same version should be used as any existing runs.

Morimoto's incessant circling around every frigging space ship was so boring that I had to watch most of the run in fast forward. The first level of this run is pretty boring, too. I think you probably have to kill everything in a Gradius run. 100% kills would be more interesting than spinning around the enemies and letting them scroll off of the screen.
I have precisely the opposite opinion as you.

Poor choice of game (try an expert-mode run of Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu Remix instead), poor choice of rules (this site accepts only tool-assisted videos - theoretical perfect plays - not videos of actual play) EDIT: I watched the first level of this run. Not only are you not following the rules of the site, the play in this video is very poor. You are not building combos, playing quickly, etc. I have trouble believing you were able to complete the game with that level of play, but I don't know how the Sonic version's difficulty compares to the games I'm more familiar with.

Story of the game: To quote the game's intro: "The country is struggling against the cruel domination of the king. Their leader and his comrades attempt to secretly land on the shore. But the king's military is waiting to attack them." So basically, you are some movement's leader, and you mission is to (on your own, of course) kill the king, who is very cruel. Honesly, you could just skip the story, it's not really important when watching this movie. Just remember that the military is the bad guys, and I'm the good guy.
The game is about the Cuban revolution. Player 1 is Che Guevara and player 2 is Fidel Castro. The game's Japanese title is "Guevara". It's also a pretty fun game.

In every language I have learned (English, Mandarin, Spanish), "come" has the same double meaning. Just because of the nature of the thing I suspect that's true in almost every language. Can you guys confirm or deny this for the languages you speak fluently?
In Japanese it's actually "go" (行く) or "put out" (出る) which both make more sense I think.

Are you sure this is the best possible set of answers? Or did you want the rest of your party's elements in a certain way?

Fire element seemed a safe choice; I'll probably want a fire element wizard who can burn grass to find hidden treasure, and if most of my team is fire elemental, I can use the "witch trick" later on.
What element Denim is has no effect on the rest of the party; their elements are determined during his question/answer session. Anyway I think Fire is a bad choice because like half of the maps will be raining.

This differs a lot from Capcom's ports. Their GBA ports of Super Mario World, Rockman 9, Breath of Fire 2, etc. were done with 65816->THUMB static translation, so many of the old bugs still work.
SMW - not ported by Capcom, and in fact recoded so old bugs are fixed. Rockman 9 - there is no such game.

You can replace all the sprites with bitmaps of course, but the sprite is not always the same size as the hitbox.
I wonder how often this is the case.. NES hardware has sprite collisions built in, so I imagine cases where hitboxes and sprites aren't equal are rare.

That's a shame. With all the tricks and secrets in this game, a run that indulges in showing the game off a little might be acceptable... or at least worthwhile to create for it's own sake.
To get any better units than that you have to switch to units that aren't nearly as good for a while. A long while.

I'd prefer subtitles to audio.. the music in games is most of the experience for me, and the Ogre series has really good music.

Only one useful unit, I think, at least in early game. For males use Beastmaster, for females use Archer. Actually you never need to upgrade after that. They're always just as good as they'll ever be, especially if you're in a hurry.

Here's some entertaining and possibly informative propaganda. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=1274471951 There's not much content other than a few jabs at Bush, a short history of Habeas Corpus, and some quotes from people who didn't vote for this (ill-conceived, idiotic, useless) bill, but I still think it makes quite a few good points. Hopefully we can undo all the damage Bush caused once he's out.. but realistically it'll only get worse from here. At least I can't imagine this generation's lot getting too incredibly terrible, but I wouldn't want to live here in 50 or 100 years.
