Remember to actually kill Yuan Shu. You have to order it three times I think.

Here is a speedrun / walkthrough video (of the Japanese version but there are no gameplay changes) which finishes at 5h45, if you need some help with basic strategy or where to go when. (it's not tool-assisted) This is one of my favorite games of all time by the way. Edit: This game is based on Motomiya Hiroshi's manga "Tenchi wo Kurau" (Devouring Heaven and Earth) which is the entire reason I'm into Chinese mythology / Eastern religion / Eastern history / manga & anime. Edit2: Why do you recruit Song Yong and Song Ren? They are useless. Not only do you waste time to recruit them but during battle all they do for you is 2 damage, which takes a hit animation, and taking hits from enemies. If you actually need someone aside from the brothers try Mi Zhu in Xuzhou. Personally I would wait for Chen Deng (why is he your tactician anyway? keep 5 or less people and use Liu Bei) Edit3:
(last I checked, NO ONE has any idea what the tactics Cheng Nei and Jie Ce actually DO)
Cheng Nei = city walls. It reduces enemy defense if you're fighting a fortified location (a castle). It's not worth using usually. Jie Ce = heals negative status (that is, counters Ji Rou, Wuo Jian, Shui Jian, etc) Edit4: Do you really need to talk to Zhang Shiping? I mean, Zhang Fei is pretty rich all by himself. (and anyway I don't think you need to feed your army before your first battle, which since it's a story battle will give you food).

Section-Z, while awesome, doesn't involve any walking or jumping. It's a shooter.

OK so this game needs to be done. One version of it at least. I'm most familiar with (Unl) (U) so I'm making a WIP of it. Here's what I have so far: Plaleaf in 30 seconds

Remember that dashing resets your combo in the "no finishing move" sense but not the "score multiplier" sense... so three hits + dash + three hits + dash + ....

Oh mine didn't take into account that you could weigh more than 3 coins at once. Edit: My minimum of 2 is, you weigh three coins and one is different. You take the two that are the same and set them aside, grab two others, and weigh compared to the different one. If they're the same the two you weighed first are the different ones.

With those strategies at the SDA forum I think worlds 2 and 3 can be done reasonably well, they don't require as much W1 preparation as I thought. Um, I'll probably still have Galuf hold a Sandbear until W2 and probably use more Sandbears against W1 bosses but some of those end-W1 and W2/W3 strategies plus the end time of ~3 hours means if I find some time I'll finish my test run and Meepers can make the final version taht fixes my 11,000 mistakes. BTW I would reccomend against using Monk. You should probably follow my path unless you know you can do some better.

This is the 4th and final game in the Fantasy Zone series, and its gameplay and setup is very similar to that of the first. If you're not familiar with the games, a review of this one in particular is located here. I am really really bad at these games, but as noone else seems to have even heard of them and as this one in particular seems to be the only port to a rerecording console that has both the graphical style and the awesome music intact compared to the arcade originals (the US NES port of 1 and the Japanese NES port of 2 are okay, but the SMS ports are better, and all pale in comparison to the arcade) I'm considering making a test movie of this version in order to attract interest. The games are fairly short but I'll make a lot of mistakes so if anyone else wants to do it instead, please do!

A few things we found out later in the speed run: The text goes fastest if one player holds B while the other presses rapidly. Additionally, any time you walk diaganol in a town, it slows you down. Any large diagonal needs to be a jump, since the jump doesn't slow you down.
Both of these things happen QUITE a lot. Even normal text advancing isn't done in some places (meeting Koban Cat after killing the lantern guy). Route improvements in-town to avoid moving so much out of the way would save a lot. Since the times for the two lantern guy fights are different, one is neccessarily slower. There was also at least one point in which I thought a suicidal piggyback jump would have sped things up (and you have enough spare lives to do that twice - I don't remember if dying resets your power or your sandals, but still). Maybe I could find more specific points if I paid more attention and tested things myself.. as it is there's at least a few seconds of improvement and I honestly think a minute of improvement without major route changes is just on the edge of possible (I could of course be wrong). It's still a great movie, very entertaining, etc.

I always thought that as difficult as it is for one person to make a 2-player TAS, it would be much more difficult for two people to do the same.
I thought that too. Then again, 3000 rerecords on a 30-minutes game.. it doesn't seem too bad, but I guess that's how all the errors I saw crept in, and with 2 players it's that much harder to optimise because both have to do it right, synchronized...

A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 should do it I think.

Nice! I like this game (and series), and I like the use of two characters (one killing enemies while the other advances). However, there were many parts I thought were improvable. What I saw would only save a few seconds total I think, maybe a minute tops, but it was there. So I don't know what to vote. It's well done, but there are mistakes even I can spot? BTW the anime was made after the game series.

Such would be very useful for a run of Final Fantasy 5 for example, as the tactics used to defeat bosses are sometimes rather strange.

Zero series is sequel to the X series but isn't the X series. That ups ZX to 6th. You're forgetting the Rockman World series. That ups ZX to 7th. But most consider World series to be just part of the original series. That takes ZX back down to 6th.

So this is forbidden too?
Yes. The only exception is if the character isn't under control at the time (like in Woodman's stage when you can pass through walls during the scrolling animation).

Ladder tricks are allowed. Weapon switching to cancel "being-hit" animation is NOT allowed, but to pass through enemies or shots IS allowed. Under no circumstances can you be inside a solid object, so even accidental falling in Cutman's boss room is NOT allowed. Jumping to avoid stun in Gutsman's room is intentional. The brick duplicationw as never brought up at TG. I've never had it happen to me in normal play, YMMV.

....they didn't know they wouldn't be allowed to release those extras until after the work to add them was done. CoA collected suggestions from fans in a massive email campaign, reviewed them, released which features they were going to add, sent the suggestion list to CoJ, Keiji Inafune saw it and said "OK, I'll do it, but I'll do it right", and he made IHX and told CoA not to use those features for MMXC.

....um. You're already getting 6 games for $30. Many of which I had bought when they released for $30 each. Why are you complaining? ...and if you don't buy the PSP games, you don't get to see the extra content... so? How is that "getting screwed"?

But do you know why all those things were cut? The remixed music for X1 and X2 was finished, the scripts were rewritten, X4 was redubbed, X6 was, well, dubbed, etc.. it was all finished, and it got cut after that. Keiji Inafune told them to cut it because he's making the Irregular Hunter X series on PSP with those features and he wants to have control over it to that level. Actually IHX2 is going to use the music that was made for MMXC's X2 but cut. So the work done on MMXC that was cut actually -was- worth stuff.

...mishap? One of the major selling points of this new series for me is its tie to the Henshin Hero genre... ^_^ I got into toku because Rockman was based on toku.. and now it's becoming true to its roots by having a Henshin Hero series (if EXE doesn't count).

The sixth (or seventh depending on how you count) Rockman series has been announced. The first game should release this year for Nintendo DS. Character designs appear to be by Nakayama Toru (of Rockman Zero fame) and indeed the two screens make it look a lot more like Rockman Zero 5 rather than a new series altogether. Details here.
