The number of rotations also affects the block after next, but it's hard to manipulate such a thing at level 19 (2 frames per block drop). I made a video like this that didn't manipulate luck because I didn't even consider pausing.. I thought it wasn't good enough so I never submitted it. This one is much better.

Grant plays differently between the US and Japanese versions of Akuden. I would love to see a run of Gradius 2 (my favorite in the series) and Ogre Battle 5 (also my favorite in the series, but in this case I've only played 5 and 7 for any length of time).

Explanation: Zoisite is a kind of jade, and Zoicite a character in Sailormoon. Zoizite is a misspeling of that kind of jade / character. Zozite is a misspelling of a misspelling of that kind of jade / character.

...yeah, its linearity and lack of diverse enemies was disappointing. But it was horror. Oh, I found the correct measurements. In the suit she's 183cm (6 foot) and 91kg (200 lbs), and out of it she's 163cm (5'4) and 50kg (110 lbs).

Play Metroid 2 and 4 and then tell me the genre isn't horror.

How often do people say or write contrieved sentences like this in real life? "Sorry, what you say is too ambigous to understand, please write it down in kanji for me, it's much easier to understand that way" - does that happen to you a lot while talking Japanese? No? Didn't think so either.
It's perfectly understandable aloud, though (see discussion of tone above). It only becomes confusing when it's written, and not in Kanji.

I'm not sure what you mean by inflexion markings.
Tone of voice changes throughout a word. Japanese isn't majorly tonal like a lot of Eastern languages but you can still have two words that are written the same way in hiragana but pronounced differently and with different meanings. So if you went to a kana-only system you'd need to add tonal markings.
Truncated wrote:
For example, do you understand japanese when it's written in romaji with spacing between words? Probably yes. That's what Japanese could have been like, but with kana instead.
Niwano niwaniwa niwa niwatoriwa niwakani wanio tabeta. If you can read that I will give you a cookie. Somehow. Now lets see it in kanji: 丹羽の庭には二羽鶏は俄に鰐を食べた --much easier to understand.

To understand written Japanese like you understand spoken Japanese you'd need to add inflection markings and spacing between words, neither of which exist in the written langauge. but I don't see why kanji is so bad..?

I was bored today so I started a new file on FF5 and tried to see how well I could follow the directions here. I think a lot of the switching between Jobs can be minimised. Stick with Black until you get a JLVL and then switch to Blue and equip Black Magic lv.1. Also, it takes quite a few battles with Wild Naks to get up to high enough that Iron Claw puts you at 9/9/9/10. I don't even remember if any of the stuff in the chests in Karnak is useful, but why not kill a few monster-in-a-box rather than more Wild Naks so you get stuff out of it if it's useful? I'm sure you can figure out a way to kill them extremely quickly (Wild Naks take 3 actions to take down, because Faris always goes first and is useless in battle, but you can spend more time fighting MIAB because it takes quite a while to trigger the 4 or 5 extra random battles outside Karnak you need.. Gigas is most of the MIAB and that's the same EXP as a Wild Nak battle). The Iron Claw battle will net 115 EXP, which means Faris needs 1161 or greater before you kill him. When I did it I still had to fight 2 more battles to get 9 and 10.. and I went into Karnak after freshly reaching lvls of 8 and 9, which took a few battles extra (walking straight to Karnak and fighting every Wild Nak party encountered - which was 100% of encounters - got me to the 6 and 7 range.. maybe it's better to aim for 4 and 5?). Anyway it took about 1h30m to reach the Ancient Library. But I was playing on a console and I wasted a lot of time doing unneccessary stuffs so doing all of the above ^^^ in 1h15m or even under 1h is definitely possible. EDIT: BTW I was also using Battle Speed 3 (about 1 second delay every time someone chooses or executes an action), Message Speed 3, and Wait style.. it should be 1, 1, and Active for the fastest speed. Random: it is amusing to me that there is a Jikuu spell that sets the Battle Speed to 5 for that battle and has no other effects.

The lowest levels possible for game completion are 2/2/2/3. You learn L5 Death by using Hero Drink or other temporary level boosters until you cap at 255.

Don't forget to spend 2 minutes to get Lvl 5 Death in the Ancient Library from "Page 64", as MANY bosses are weak to it. (It's kind of weird that Square would do that, but what the heck, right?) [...] EDIT: Don't forget Death Claw! Another one of those blue magics that may work to your advantage. You can manipulate Iron Claw into casting it, so you don't have anything to worry about.
L5 Death can be abused on all bosses except one (Omega) through a combination of Old, Black Shock, Hero Drink, and other level manipulators. Death Claw is most useful for Catching monsies. Release is an incredibly useful attack. Would it be more interesting to see a clean low-level run, a rerecorded low-level run, or a rerecorded speedrun taht doesn't go out of its way to avoid EXP?

What with all the attention being received by FF6 lately, I was kind of thinking.. what about the best game in the series, FF5? Would people be interested in a speedrun of this game? Or perhaps a low-level run (which can even be done on console with 2/2/2/3)?

The manual and banned glitch thing both stem from Twin Galaxies rules, which declare that developer-intentional tactics must be found in the manual to be legal, and glitches that directly impair the "spirit of the game" are likewise illegal. I don't think either restriction should apply here. So the rule is whether or not abusing a tactic or glitch is entertaining.

Can't you just use the Japanese version? Is it a 64DD game or a normal N64 game? Either way it should work in an American console.

http://www.rightstuf.com/ The Megaman series is available in two DVD sets. The first contains the first season (eps 1-13) and the second contains the rest (season 2 is 14-26 and season three is a single episode ;_; ). Each retails for $30, but RightStuf is having a 40% off sale for all ADV products (use the coupon code "fright") so you can nab all 27 eps for $36.

they have distinct AI?? how can you tell the difference between them?
Each ghost obeys "scatter" commands - attacks come in waves. Scatters automatically happen at certain times, according to the level, and additionally whenever a power pellet is taken. Blinky prefers the upper-left corner. He is the most aggressive ghost and always shortens the distance between himself and Pac-Man. He increases in speed after a certain number of dots have been eaten (a phenomenon known as "Cruise Elroy"). Pinky uses the same AI as Blinky, except he prefers to go around obstacles anticlockwise rather than clockwise and does not increase in speed. Inky adopts the AI of the closest ghost. Clyde's AI is pseudorandom, depending on your position in the level.
