Oh god. I was hoping to never hear of Saban Moon again. (I have the video if people want me to post it online somewhere.. it's horrible).

The live-action series is a lot closer to the manga, from the little of it I've seen (about 5 eps or so). Anyway, the anime is pretty much completely unlike the manga.. they have the same basic story (gods and goddesses are incarnated when they are needed to fight or perform some other task) and the same 5-season story arcs (Dark Kingdom, Nemesis, Death Busters, Doom Circus, Shadow Galactica) and even most of the same characters (at least, by names). But they're really very different. Takeuchi-sensei got really, really pissed off at Toei for all the changes, mostly in the last two seasons (the anime's Supers arc is completely unlike and bears no resemblance to the manga's volumes 12-15, and much of the storyline for the last story arc, Stars, was changed from the oriignal volumes 16-18). And because of that, and because of the contract she'd signed with them, she sat on the work and refused to continue it until their liscense expired. Now it has, and now we have the live-action series, which is her restarting everything and being closer to the original vision. The anime's still good, but it's a pale shadow of the real work.. which is the manga + the Seramyu.

It's really well-done. Well, except for certain parts (like ALL OF Supers and a great deal of Stars). But I have the first two seasons on DVD and the last three on VHS, and I have DVD and VHS both for the movies and OVAs. I also have half of the manga (every volume in which Hotachan appears) and I'm going to pick up the other half and Sailor V soonish.. and I have one of the 6 (7?) artbooks. I don't own any Seramyu or any of the live-action series yet (still looking for a good price on DVDs for the live-action.. but I think the Seramyu will just get harder and ahrder to find from here ;_; )

XP Pro, DOS 6.22, and Debian GNU/Linux. EDIT: I used to run BeOS, which I really liked a lot, but now I don't use it anymore.

In order for the keys to be recognised, they have to be pressed while the frame is changing. So on very slow frames, that means holding them like Bisqwit says (or, pause, hold keys, advance frame, hold keys, advance frame, etc).

If you free Lone Wolf (in either game) he takes the best items from chests in later dungeons. I don't think 6 is connected in that way (the only reused world I know of is 4's moon = 5's 2nd world). Though Odin inhabits a castle ever since his first appearance in 3.

This is only true for levels 0-9. At levels 10 and beyond, level increases at 100 and every multiple of 10 thereafter. So if you started at level 12, for example (my favorite level!) then you would hit level 13 at 100 lines.

115 lines, 501 200 points, but still on level 19. Is this really the final level and everyone who claims otherwise a liar?

It's certaintly faster to do that (or to pause, hold all buttons you want, unpause, repeat).. and so I will, since I don;t really care about the end result looking good (which was the point of hex-editing, so it would always have the perfect path to the destination). I just want to see the score max and see what levels 20-29 are like.

No I am playing using a hex editor rather than a controller. I see the next piece I'm working with, I feed in the controller data to make it go where I want, I see the next piece, etc. Basically it's the same as simply playing the game but with the fastest possible reflexes. EDIT: In other words, it's very tedious and can be easily beaten.

<-- is continuing the discussion from the Zelda thread I counted wrong, it's actually 2 frames, not 6, on level 19. 6 is level 9. Then it's 5 for 10-12, 4 for 13-15, and 3 for 16-18. It takes 42 Tetrises to max the score, starting on level 18.. I think I will code (not play XD no luck manipulation just putting pieces where I want them most efficiently) this movie.

Gogo's backstory is in FF5. SPOILERS FOR 1ST WORLD In Walse Tower, you find that a soldier who came from the meteor was trying to prevent the crystal from shattering. He (apparently) dies and the crystal shatters. You collect all the shards except one - then the tower sinks into the ocean, so you flee. SPOILERS FOR 3RD WORLD When you return to the Walse Tower, you find an oddly-clothed person (Gogo) there, whom if you defeat in combat, will give you the missing shard of the water crystal. THEREFORE The soldier from Bal is Gogo.

Gogo is male. He was a soldier from Bal in FF5 who inherited the Simulacrum Job from the Water Crystal. His appearance in 6 is a cameo.

SO FAR OFF TOPIC... EDIT from last post: Though I guess it's equivalent in time but much more efficiently pruned if you only accept beyond this point the videos that managed to make a Tetris within the first 10 seconds (which is about as quick as it can be done). RETRACTION: Except, I guess it's quicker in the long run to pile junk and then build Tetrises on top of that, because then it takes less time to fall from the top. So pruning those who don't make an immediate Tetris may get rid of the best performances prematurely.

At this point I'm talking about movies that manage to survive for 10 seconds in level 19, after using the trick to start at level 19. 10 seconds is about how long you can expect to survive if you put down the controller.

You can also ignore the up button (no use) and the down button (makes the piece move the same speed as level 19's). So you only need 4 buttons - left, right, clockwise, and anticlockwise (and FUCK YES YOU NEED BOTH ROTATIONS FOR ANY SPEED ABOVE like 8). So that's 4^600 combinations, which produces (by the same maths as above) a much more manageable 9.1e341 centuries. Less than the first guesstimate by a factor of a googol! (edit: and you can drop down to 2.2e161 centuries by restricting input to every other frame as well, which should improve play quality)

What is the correlation between Tone and hits required to kill various enemies/bosses? Anyone with savestate editing knowledge who can perform this study?

So this generating movies with random data has me interested. I think it would work better on something like Tetris. Make a movie that starts at level 19, then stop it once the level starts. Then generate sequences that don't include select or start, and play them, and delete all the ones that die, etc. At level 19 it takes 6 frames for a piece to drop 1 tile. So that means the vast majority of the movies will end within 10 seconds. From there, you prune and continue. EDIT: Of course that's still 6^600. Which is ~7.77e466. Which, assuming everyone on the planet participates and watches these at 10x speed, it would take 4.1e447 centuries.

The only semi-amusing story about the RIAA I know is that Hilary Rosen, the CEO and president of the RIAA from 1988 to 2003, officially resigned in January 2003 because of the conflict of interest between her job at the RIAA (limit rights) and her lesbian partner's job as the head of the Human Rights Campaign (extend rights). She chose to resign as president in order to spend more time with her family (the aforementioned partner, Elizabeth Birch, and their twin daughters).
