Does anyone know if there is an English translated version of the Japanese Castlevania 2? The reason I ask is that it's different in some ways, harder, and most importantly it has a save feature instead of passwords.
What's it called?
Akumajou Dracula II: Noroi no Fuuin It's a FDS game, which also means different music & sound effects.

Play the FMV again. If the probem happens again, just rerecord from before the desync occurs, and from then on, check for desync more often.

Yes, but you have to dump the ROMs yourself. Nothing you download from the internet is legal unless the authors themselves have released the copyright under some kind of public liscense (such as in the case of Elite).

If you need it now, watch the version 2 video that's already posted :-þ I'm doing the other one in my spare time, and between FFTA, Calc II, volunteering at the library, watching Code: Lyoko, and the BSSM DVDs I just got in the mail, that spare time isn't giving the video much progress XD Like, 2 minutes of finished product a day, maybe... I'll be done eventually~~

Zero doesn't have a Variable Weapon System. Instead, he learns techniques from his opponents, more related to how they fight than with what weapons. Because of this, not all bosses have weaknesses, but some techniques are useful against multiple bosses or to make levels easier. So a route by X will generally follow the weakness order, but a route by Zero is more open-ended and could be completely different.

Warp - that's the convention mainly in use here, but otherwise the more general definitions are that a speedrun completes the entire game and a timeattack focuses on a subset of the game, as Spawn indicated. Time attack is a Japanese term.

Someone on TG also hit sub-60 with Zero on his 3rd try in X4, and that run also included a death. So maybe my sub-50 times were wishful thinking (it's been a while since I played X4) but the game is pretty easy, especially with Zero. I doubt sub-50 is impossible.

That time seems a little long. I can't download the video (226 MB is a bit much for my current 56k dialup connection) so I can't estimate the time lost, but I seem to recall being able to finish this game in under 50 minutes with Zero. So either my timing is completely wrong or this guy loses a lot of time.

I think a Richter run should be done first. It's the shortest and easiest to plan a route for.

Also, X = Mega Man (why did they do this?) Counter-Hunters = X-Hunters Irregular Hunters = Maverick Hunters Sagesse = Serges X1 had a fairly good translation. X2 absolutely did not.

You can get Crablos's subtank without Bubble Splash. Stand on the land under where the tank is, on the level part, and walk (don't dash) to the left. When you reach the part that's tilted downward, jump, and you should jump higher than normal. snag the wall to the left, triangle hop up to the surface of the water, then use the surface of the water to jump continuousy over to the right, then hop out and collect the tank. Two neat glitches are exposed in it, but it's possible. Only the capsules in Ostreague's and Mothmeanos's levels and the heart in Mothmeanos's need items.

Dark Moon is the Devil-style enemy in Rockman World 5. As far as I know, he's the only Devil that's not called Devil. Copy Robot is also called Copy Rock in some things (like the manga), but his official name is Copy Robot.

In any X-series speedrun, there should be two goals: 100% completion and pure speed. Because X1 and X2 reward 100% completion very visibly (well, that, and I know them very well) I thought I'd take a stab at running them sometime eventually. The problem is I don't know the best routes for -speed- in them. In X2, six of the eight main stages can be run naked - that is, everything in the stage can be collected, even if that stage was the first chosen after the intro stage. While this makes any 100% collection run simple, in that the order is largely undetermined, it makes a 100% run for speed harder to plan. Because you can get the Shouryuuken no matter how many of Zero's parts you recover, and fighting Zero takes less time than fighting all three Couter-Hunters, they can be skipped. For casual play, I use this route: Wire Hetimarl Wheel Alligates (much easier to get the Arm Part with Strike Chain than just with dash-wall jumping) Bubbly Crabolos (because Bubble Splash makes the Counter-Hunters easy..) Flame Stagger (again, Rushing Burner makes the Counter-Hunters easy) Cristar Mymine (not in weakness order because Crystal Hunter is needed for Metamor Mothmeanos's stage) Metamor Mothmeanos Magne Hyakulegger Sonic Ostreague While this makes the game pretty simple to run, it yields a time of over an hour (about 1:15 last I checked, but I don't usually play for speed so this can be improved quite a lot). I doubt it's the most efficient route. It may save time to go in weakness order and then return to Metamor Mothmeanos's stage after Cristar Mymine. The order above elimiates all backtracking, but Cristar Mymine takes a very, very long time to kill without Magnet Mine. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Yes i know it isn't Megaman 9 that's why i said "it's like" ! Rockman & Forte belongs to Mega Man Classic series. It came after Megaman 8 so I can say "it's like Megaman 9" even though it isn't! It took the Megaman 9 spot on the making line but didn't use that name. Se on niinku MM9 mulle kato
Your justification for calling it 9 is because it's after 8? I suppose tht's the same justification the programmers of it used when they called it ROCK8.5 internally. Except, you know, they didn't call it 9 internally, because it's not Rockman 9. I guess that means Rockboard is really Rockman 6. And Rockman Dash, that's obviously X5.
Smirre wrote:
X = 10.
x is a variable. That was the intent in the name. It is not 10 and was not intended to be 10. It's the main character's name. If it were 10, then why is the second game in the X-series X2 instead of X1?

I'm glad you see fit to contradict yourself. In the future, please think about things not being the same before you say they are, or vice-versa.

The English 2 is different enough from the Japanese 4 to be a different game, 4easytype. But thats a completely different discussion, and plotwise they're still interchangeable. Also, the FF series is well-known, so there are lots of people who are familiar with the two sets of numbers for the same games. Where the parallel fails is when misinformation about a less popular series is spread. It's not common knowledge that you're completely wrong in saying R&F is 9 and X is 10, so I had to correct it. It's not slander against you personally, it's merely a correction of the misinformation.

Or, roughly, "What's up with her? She is always complaining about what I say even though I'm not doing anything to her, that's insane. This is the last time I'll be answering with a nice tone, let's see if she'll still keep up complaining by herself..." By the way,

As for me, my favorite Rockman game in the original series 1-6 is Rockman 3: Dr. Wily's Last Stand!?. But the question was your faorite on the NES/Famicom.. which is Wily and Right's Rockboard: That's Paradise!. ^_^ I really hope that game is translated into English and included as a bonus game in Anniversary Collection... but I doubt it will ;_;

The bosses have stories behind them: each had "originally" some useful purpose.
This is true of all Robot Masters. The character profiles weren't included in the English versions for some reason. Though, the English version of Rockman & Forte did translate the CDDB, so that's good. I really hope the extended profiles from Complete Works are included in Anniversary Collection, too.. then CAPCOM could use Aniversary Collection to correct all the horrendous mistakes in made over the past 16 years concerning the series' English counterpart. (if only the X-eries could have the same treatment.. its a little more plot-heavy, so it's kind of annoying when the English games get stuff wrong).

I like the muic in 3.. :-þ 3, 4, and 5 have the best soundtracks out of 1-6 for me. But maybe it's just because I'm an Alph Lyla fan that I like Bun-Bun's compositions so much. ..I was going to give long, boring overviews of the plot of 3 and 4 because you mentioned having difficulties, but then I realised no-one but me would care ^_^;;
