Well, I have tried several times to get it to work from the beginning of the game, but I can't do it. I have been able to consistently get it to work if I have Bow-wow with me. Here's a movie from the VERY start of the game up to rescuing Bow-wow; then I collect a piece of power and demonstrate the glitch (around frame 55200): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1331/DX%20movie1.vbm Performing the glitch (going off route to get to the beach to find more enemies) took about 15000 frames in the movie. This could probably be optimized down to half that number from more strategic killing (unless the enemies on the beach are required to perform the glitch). That's still roughly 2-3 minutes of time wasted... Maybe somebody could investigate this and see where time could be saved, as in taking a shortcut in the glitch somewhere?

I couldn't find this documented anywhere, so I think I've found a new (and crazy) glitch in LADX. I was just wandering around after collecting a piece of power and somehow gained the red tunic out of nowhere! I did some testing and it seemed that I might have overflowed some counter for the piece of power, and that slashing two enemies at once after killing many enemies would give you the red tunic. It's not a sprite glitch, I really did get the red tunic and had the 2x power property! I was able to replicate it several times, so I took a video (it starts after I had killed some large number of monsters): http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1321/Redtunic.vbm (Note that having Bow-wow is probably not a prerequisite, I just happened to have him with me when I discovered the glitch) I also recorded from the same spot a movie where I killed two different enemies at once and gained the blue tunic: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1322/Bluetunic.vbm I can see that the blue tunic glitching isn't that applicable to a speedrun. But would getting the red tunic early and killing monsters (and bosses) twice as fast be worth the time spent performing this glitch? Do people have any thoughts? More investigation into this glitch would be appreciated.

On a side note, Super Mario World is completable without taking any coins... Only difficult parts are grabbing the key in Donut Secret 1 (the swimming level, use a shell to hit the key block) and avoiding general areas congested with coins.

From this page which is filled mostly with junk I found these two glitches. Glitch: Fire Cape: Eat a Cape and a Flower at the same time with Yoshi and you will have a Cape and a Fire Suit. Information in this section was contributed by videogamer. Glitch: Small Mario with a Flower or Cape: Get a Feather or Fire Flower at the same time Super Mario gets injured. Information in this section was contributed by videogamer. I don't know if they work, but having a cape and a flower at the same time would mean you don't have to switch during bosses.
I just tested both of these thoroughly, but I couldn't get either of them to work (that was probably expected). For 1, the fire flower takes priority over the feather with yoshi, so you only pick up the fire flower. For 2, the flower takes priority over the enemy. They might be possible, but I don't really think so. I've never heard of either of these glitches, and it seems to me that the programming of the game would prevent at least these kind of glitches from occurring.

A few months ago, I put together a map of the overworld for SDW, it's here in case anybody wants it. Doing the entire levelset by screenshots... well, it took me about an hour of saving, pasting, and editing to get to that picture. It would be way too much trouble to make pictures of levels that way. I have read elsewhere that people are working on a program to "unlock" SDW, so maybe that could be an eventual option?

I've completed the run up to Vanilla Dome 2, here is the updated version. Any thoughts on if I should complete it? If this is meant just to generate interest, my answer would be no. But, completing it would give a framework for the next version and demonstrate what could be improved aside from pure playing optimization (route changes, for instance).

If my memory is correct, I downloaded it off this site within the past 6 months... I just checked the readme and it noted that the VBA version was 1.7.2, and the rerecording version was 17.1, so maybe 1.7.2.560 is some hybrid of those? Anyway, it looks like I have the current version, so all this doesn't really matter.

Let's see... I'm using "Super Mario Advance 2 - Super Mario World (U)" and "VBA Rerecording 1.7.2.560" Is there a better version of either I should be using for the movie? And what version are you using to view the movie?

Hello all, I've been a longtime lurker and just recently made an account here. I have a WIP through the first world of this concept. I play as Luigi, getting all Yoshi coins, still finishing fast, etc. I played at 25% speed, obviously not at TAS precision. Only problem is... I don't know how to post links in a topic yet. Is it restricted to users with a certain number of posts, or am I just missing something? I've looked through the FAQ and a number of other posts here...

Many years ago I was a chef for Halloween at my Junior High school. I won the competition for best costume and all the kids in gym class called me "Chef" for the next two years. Stef is short for my first name, Stefan, so I combined the two when I needed a username for gamefaqs. It stuck and I have used it elsewhere ever since.
