Wow, this is a lot lower in quality than I'm used to seeing from you. It almost seemed like it was a joke to you. Oh wait, it was. Nevermind, then.

When I first read the description text, I thought that only the ending was changed to not have the murder beam, but I was obviously wrong. There were many subtle changes made, even if the general path was the same. Going underwater after getting the gravity suit, not collecting the super missile in Meridia (however it's spelled), taking a different path to get to the plasma, and the many changes to using each beam or having the high jump boots. There were even more changes that were barely noticable, which I think are different from the last run, but I may be wrong because I didn't look at the older run recently but I'm just noting the parts that stuck out in my head as being different. There was the running while waiting for the bomb near the entrance to Kraid's area so that rolling under that area would be faster, doing the same thing in Riley's lair, taking a hit by mini-Kraid to be sent forward faster, jumping over the breakable blocks in the T shaft after getting the power bombs, using a power bomb after running into the big metroid, and all sorts of optimizations like falling more efficiently and climbing faster and getting hit to be pushed forward more efficiently. But even if my memory was really bad and only half of these improvements were true, I'd still say it was an amazing improvement. And since killing Mother Brain really doesn't take more than 30 seconds more or so I think, it's very neat to have her beaten the normal way and actually be able to see the events in the ending. (If it was hard to tell from my post, I voted yes. =P)

Why not stop by and kill a few enemies for cash if necessary? And btw are you sure its 100%? it look like you missed some chest / alchemy ingrentents
I think that 100% in this case means having at least one of each item. So things like ingredients at each spot won't be taken, and the same goes for items in the chests, or gourds in the prehistoric world. Getting ever single ingredient and every single item, like petals when you already are full, would take so much extra time and not really do anything more. And I think that it would usually be faster to just attack the bosses instead of killing enemies to get money for ingredients to do more alchemy, but I may be wrong. As for my suggestion about making it not a one of every item run, I was just thinking that you had to buy all of those armor that you never use, which takes up time, and you seem to be constantly struggling for money. I forgot exactly what the costs of the items are compared to ingredients, and also forgot exactly how many of those armor pieces you'll have to buy, but if it ended up being anything significant that would hurt your run from the lack of money, I was thinking that it would be best just to ignore doing the 100%. But if it doesn't slow down the run too much, and there are interesting things in getting 100%, then that sounds like it should work well. And since you know probably about 5-10 times more about the game than I do (When I played it a long time ago, I got to the final world, but I somehow couldn't turn off the light and the plants would kill me), your decision on that will be better than mine, and better than most people here. Anyway, keep up the good work! And don't get too stressed out if you're forced to take a few swings at bosses once in a while. ;)

I think that most people would prefer an any % run for this, but well, it's up to your discretion. Oh, and while looking at the topic about Super Metroid, I noticed this link, which you may or may not have known about. Just wanted to check to make sure so that you wouldn't have to go back if there's a glitch you didn't know about. http://kontek.net/davidwonn/snesm.html#S

For me it was a rather hard choice. It was done pretty much as well as I could hope for, but long RPGs (or even short ones) aren't that enjoyable for me. But it was worth one watch-through, I'd say. But anyway, I voted yes simply because it was very well done and I think the site should have one good and long SNES RPG, but it was a hard choice for me.

I'll say yes to this video, obviously, but there are things that I like about the original video more. *shrug* So yeah, I'll be holding on to my older avi even after I download this movie when it's available.

I'm surprised no one has commented yet. I really like the improvements, but I'm not a great judge for this game because I've never played it all the way through, and I haven't watched the old version in a long time. But you have some amazing work there.

I haven't posted or made a submission before, but I think that if there's a game that would work well for a first-timer it would be a game like Boulder Dash. I don't know how popular the game is but I've played it as a little kid, but only through the first world. I've done some testing on it and your character really is free to do whatever while moving around, because regardless of whether he's travelling through dirt or air, going in a zig zag or two straight lines, or flipped facing backwards half the time, they all result in the same amount of time taken. There are two random factors that I can think of. There's rocks/diamonds falling in either direction when given the choice, and the amoebas. I'm not sure what causes the randomness in the falling yet. As for glitches mentioned in the FAQ, the amoeba dissapearing glitch could be interesting, but I think it would be very difficult to pull off since it would have to be at an oppurtune time, and that glitch seems to be random in the first place. The pausing of bugs for a moment when one is killed could be important for my timing. Dissapearing rocks could be useful if I get really lucky. But other than for the bugs pausing, I think that the glitches won't be of much use. I'm going to try to get through the first quest of the game, which is the first 6 worlds, with the later ones being repeats of the first 6 but with more challenging layouts. I think that it's for the best since 1) people would be more likely to recognize it since I'm sure many people who played the game didn't get to the fourth quest and 2) I'm not that great at this game, since I've only beaten the first quest tonight, and trying for the fourth quest would be more than I think I could handle. And as a warning, keep in mind that this is my first attempt at a speedrun. I cannot promise that I'll go through with this, and I certainly have no idea how long it'll take. But if people reply with hints or suggestions or comments on whether it would be interesting or just mention if they've played or heard of the game before, that would be very helpful.
