Doesn't work. What application is that for? In Vista, though, I can get it with Alt+0233, but that's still too much effort. :P

Not everyone has that key on their keyboard. The best you can do is set it to autocorrect in MSWord when writing a fanfic or something... but seriously, who writes those? And about that "Chirs' " thing... I might have actually been mixing up the singular/plural thing with the possessive thing. I know it was one of those where both are acceptable...

Nice thread. I do some writing, and one of the things that really gets on my nerves when other people critique my work is when they tell me that my grammar is wrong. ...inside of a quote. Look. Fictional characters are allowed to misuse words, okay? OKAY? It's a great way to illustrate their personality. In fact, each person in a story should have a slightly different style of speech to help define their character. That, and it's realistic. So next time I write 'I would do it if it was possible,' said Bob" I will smack you if you try to correct my grammar. As long as the narrator is using correct grammar, it's fine. Another thing that grinds my nerves is when people try to tell me "Chris's shoes" is incorrect. Both "Chris'" and "Chris's" are technically allowable. But that's all just me being defensive. If I had to pick one error of others that I hate the most, it would be "Beastiary".

I don't know how to do this, but it should be possible by faking your computer as a Wii remote, connecting to the Wii via Bluetooth, and running a script that mashes the A button.

That's right, I'd like to see you record yourself playing Dr. Mario, unassisted. Any version is fine, even the Wii version if that's what you prefer. Any settings are fine. Play just one level, or try to get to level 20 from level 0. Show off your combo skills, speed skills, or whatever you want. Just make sure it's unassisted. Lately, I've been playing a lot of Dr. Mario Wii, so I'd like to see how some other people play.

I went to Zophar just now to link someone to a Super Metroid SPC set, and I noticed that there was a new news entry on the front page. http://www.zophar.net/ It looks like they want to bring the site back from the dead. My first thought was "Whoa, can they actually pull that off?" I mean, it's a great archive for certain types of files, but it's really aged. My second thought was that someone from this site could apply as an administrator.

Great trailer, but I wouldn't go see this movie if you paid me.

Hah, yes, I have done this before. I'm bad at remembering all the lyrics I've made. Castlevania 2 - Bloody Tears <After the intro part's over...> Zombie nights, all those restless nights with those zombie fights, all the heartache, heartbreak Zombie nights, all those sleepless nights break the holy lights, in the moonlight, noonlight Day time, play time, fray time, time is slowly ticking down Light of day, goes away, turns into demon's play.

Since I'm probably not going to be working on this any more, I've uploaded it to YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlmOrTVHO3o

Another thing that might be fun to see: It's possible to hit the ball in such a way that it will go REALLY high, and make a ridiculous squealing noise. It might be fun to see all the runners hit the home plate only for the insanely high fly ball to be caught, or something.

Just throwing my vote in. Fun, short, glitchy, hilarious. Yes vote. Although, I must add that I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a slightly longer movie if more funny stuff could be demonstrated, such as the triple play.

For 2P games, I like to use the Wii Classic Controller (via Bluetooth). It's perfect: Left analog stick for Player 1, L and ZL for Player 1's A and B, Right stick, R, and ZR for Player 2.

The part of this game that cracks me up the most is the obvious reference to Super Mario Bros. level 1-1.

If you want to see a speed run without annoying effects, make one yourself. Sometimes the runner is just making fun of the viewers because they're better than you at the game. To them, the time is all that matters. The only sure-fire way to fix this is to beat the world record yourself and make the movie to your own specifications.

If you could find a way to kill Kraid without jumping (Check previous page of this tread), that would be awesome.

Just posting to say that I saw this and laughed hysterically at it. Yes vote #48.

Anyone try Brawl TASing yet? By this, I mean saving a replay file to a SD card and editing it with a computer. I don't even know if this is possible, but if it is, I'd sure be interested in seeing some optimal Target Smash games or Home Run contests.

If a movie is rejected for being a poor game choice (game too linear, too slow, etc.) will all future submissions of that game be automatically rejected based on past precedent?
No. Look at the Donkey Kong run as an example. TASes for this game were submitted several times and all rejected for the game being too simplistic, but the current movie was almost unanimously accepted because it introduced some unexpected improvements as well as showing some entertaining near-brushes with death.

Yes vote here. Long movie, but each level was masterfully done. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few missed improvements, judging from the long development of the Lolo 1 and 2 movies.

You're right, it appears that Select allows the game to continue. Good find. Start + B also appears to work.

I'm guessing the combo was just too large. A long time ago, when I was doing level 3, I experienced another glitch where a huge combo was triggered, but it took a bunch of completely unrelated blocks along with it, and it emptied half the entire bottle for no reason. I'm ashamed I didn't save it. Hmm, maybe I should just optimize this movie and then submit it as a concept demo.

I have HAD IT with this movie. This could have been a starred movie, I swear. But, for one thing, Level 4 doesn't look possible. And for another thing... Well, just watch. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1845415142/DRMARIO_OOPS.fcm

1/2: The game is different from Melee, just as Melee was different from the original. However, Brawl feels less floaty and more responsive than Melee to me, so I don't know what you're talking about. 3: There have always been item limitations in the series. Furthermore, it would be awful trying to play with Andross, Nintendog, Shadow, and Resetti at the same time. 4: What lag are you talking about? The game has always purposefully slowed a bit when big hits or multi-hit attacks are landed. Have you never noticed that before? 5: The drop rates are different for each thing. Otherwise, you would get Mew just as easily as you would Meowth. It has always been like that. 6: Don't know what you're talking about, really. Our 4 person 8 stock matches see maybe 3 smash balls max throughout the whole fight. How can you complain about the frequency of item drops being too high when you're playing on High frequency? Also, why would you turn them off when you're playing someone less skilled than you? If you're more skilled, you should be able to get the ball first, steal it, or resist the Final Smash itself.
For the record, I'm not bashing the game. I'm just observing it. 3. One of the most fun things I've done in Melee is turn on Poke-balls to max, set stock to 30 or soemthing, and have a Pokemon fight. I was just a little bit disappointed to see that this isn't nearly as intense as it used to be. 4: Melee never had the "freeze for a second due to super-powerful attack" effect that Brawl does. I personally like games without that effect. 5. My sister played again today, and she got: Munchlax, Munchlax, Munchlax, Munchlax, Weevil, Munchlax, in that order. I'm not joking. (This was in Training mode, by the way, and she was continually spawning Poke-balls, but still.) 6.
Also, why would you turn them off when you're playing someone less skilled than you?
To make the game more fair. Nobody likes being utterly beaten. Win too much, and suddenly you no longer have a playmate. :(

9. Shooting the credits The menus could have used them, but it's understandable that they were not made into a gameplay mechanic since it might create an unfair advantage to those playing with a GCN controller. I absolutely love the game so far, but here are some nitpicks I have: 1) The pace is a lot slower than Melee. Probably just takes some getting used to. 2) Controls seem a little unresponsive compared to Melee. Again, probably just takes some getting used to. 3) Item limitations. Only 3 Poke-balls on the screen at once? Only one assist trophy? 4) Lag!! Why lag, in a Wii game, when Melee had none? Try using Pikachu's down-smash on someone. The game will freeze several times during the attack sequence. The game also tends to freeze on the Ice Climber level when the iceberg is sliding down the hill. 5) Something's wrong with the randomness. Try going into Training mode and summoning a bunch of Poke-balls at once. Throw them all. most of the time, they'll all be the same Pokemon. The same with assist trophies: I once got Excitebikes six times in a row. Could this have something to do with a new seeding technique used in online play? 6) Smash balls aren't as rare as they should be, especially when items are on High. One appears at least every 60 seconds. You pretty much have to turn them off if you're playing with somebody less skilled than you.

Awesome job. This is one of my favorite NES games, and seeing it beaten even faster was very fun.
