Isn't entering that initial door unnecessary? Could the "opening door" animation be skipped by bljing on the stairs? (or is that too far out of the way)? I mean, I'd imagine you could blj on the stairs leading up to to the top floor and go straight through the door (skipping the door opening animation) and go straight to the level at super speed.
I thought the video was just a comparison between BLJ, Normal movement and side-BLJ; not necessarily showing that route to use to get into the level, but showing that side-BLJ is the fastest in comparison.

Did he go over the bars or under them? Using this to leave the gandorf battle would be an awesome break because you could skip light arrows.
He went under, because I found the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9Qihyx11J0 Ugh, I searched for "skip zelda escape castle" in YouTube and it was the first result. :-P. I should have just did that 2 days ago.

That idea sounds interesting. These are probably stupid questions but has it been confirmed that the doorways work without the Zelda opening cutscene? And if so, has anyone found out if the doorways under the Ganondorf fight that are used in the escape scene function as exits before beating Ganondorf? A way to glitch through those bars would be awesome.

Grunz its already possible to get from the starting all the way down to the 3rd door without entering the first door zelda opens by timing a damage boost, but the problem is still getting past the bars without zelda opening them.
As I have said before, I've seen people get down to the last gate, but the problem was they couldn't get through it. In those same videos (which I saw on YouTube), he used the levitation cheat to get to the other side of the gates, and Zelda loaded into the next area. You only need to get to the loading zone for it to work correctly. I wish I knew who posted those videos so I could link you guys...

I also just realized that one of the other places that this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snhL6c9nfFQ may apply is in the castle collapsing escape scene. You go through black loading areas in some spots. Would it be possible or useful to clone the actors in a room in these areas? I love these sessions on this topic where we just throw out tons of questions, but usually don't get many useful answers. I think this thread needs more MrGrunz action (he is a good OoT tester IMO).

Also I was wonder if anyone's tried jumping down from castle after beating gandorf. It looks like the final place you go to when you leave the last door is just down there.
If I remember correctly, someone was looking into that, but the problem is that you need Zelda to open the gate. He was trying to jumpslash into the edges of the gate, but it didn't work. Zelda won't follow you if you don't hit all the checkpoints. I just thought, it would require more bombs but..., is it possible to bomb hover under the tower itself and come back up into the door?

No, however there is a way to skip the cutscene with the odd mushroom timer, but even then you would need to trade up to saw to RBA lullaby and need to get hover boots and all it would skip is getting broken sword and the light arrow cutscene. We did some timing for this a while ago at ZSR and determined it would save about 1 minute, but only if its possible to get to ganons castle with no ISG and no hover boots, which looks very unlikely so far.
See, the timing that he did could be outdated. Did he use ISS or ESS? He could have still been backwalking for all I know. I still think with recent movement glitches it would be a worthy route to invest the time into analyzing.

This might sound stupid, but is there any other way to hit him when he is stunned with something other than the light arrows? Or a way to simulate the damage dealt by light arrows? Is there any way to read how damage is done to an enemy? Someone figured out how to play the songs without an ocarina... so I don't see why something of that magnitude wouldn't be possible. I just briefly looked over the links you posted, and the one mentioned about getting light arrows on B: http://tasvideos.org/ZeldaOcarinaOfTimeTricks.html#GettingTheLightArrowsOnB Its says you are required to beat the Forest Temple. But, just thinking in my head, wouldn't it be faster to beat FT than it would be to do the whole RBA for getting the 2 medallions and watching the cutscene to get light arrows? I know you can just go straight to the boss once you enter FT, but I'm assuming it means you need to get the bow? If you do need the bow, instead of actually getting it in FT, maybe RBAing for it would be faster? I'm just throwing up many questions so that it can stir some thinking.

I watched the whole thing. My thoughts: Pros: -Uses major glitches found in the last several years -Sidehop (remember backwalking? Lol) -ISS -No Temples -Less time than the published run (less than half the time) -Best COMPLETED run (non of this, "Well, it could be faster..." crap, since I don't see a better run that someone actually finished) -DoT skip -RBA used -Stole the fisherman's hat right off his head! Cons: -Japanese -Optimization/modified route would reduce the time -Took sleep away from me Overall, pros outweigh cons, so I voted yes. YOU HEAR THAT?! Yes is the correct answer IMO.

I hope you guys are keeping watch of this... http://speeddemosarchive.com/forum/index.php/topic,10168.msg312384.html#msg312384 Here is the ModDB on it: http://www.moddb.com/mods/tas-life/ Showcase 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlIDIkEv56M Showcase 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f01fw9egES0 Showcase 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiiosTcuWYs Showcase 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyCcYHAwgu8 Showcase 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rn6pGCrubwA TimEh seems to be going all out with it. So far, it seems to have advanced slowdown, frame advance and laser sight aiming while paused. There is more coming like an advanced HUD that shows a number of game related values, and, hopefully, re-recording. It looks to be a great step in the right direction for PC TASing. If it flushes out well in the GoldSource engine, maybe someone could make it for the Source engine? Christ, that would be a ton of games/mods you could TAS for the PC. I'm not associated with the project; just a follower promoting it.

Theres one in the pipes, its for next year tough, its nowhere near complete. (ghosts are going to be great help for obsoletion, now) Here a little video that compare both movies using amaurea script (converted by gocha) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9N4ww8k3bY
Can you tell me what that orchestrated version of Green Hill Zone is called from your video? Thanks.

Change 3D render to software.
Ah. I changed it to SoftRasterizer and it works now. Thanks! I tried those settings before, but I was trying different emulators (regular 9.4, and 9.5), but I didn't try changing it once I got 9.4+. Thanks.

Totally true.
Yeah... sorry. It was just an idea. I've never seen him basically kill himself before. Its just something to think about or test. You know how it is with TAS stuff.

I must say, I cannot wait for a Metal Slug 3 TAS. My friend and I randomly bought it for original Xbox, and it was an amazingly hard game. The Xbox version has a harder difficulty than the arcade version, which made some bosses nearly impossible (I forget which level it is, but the boss that shoots ghost dogs or whatever). The last level was insane for obvious reasons. Like I said, totally looking forward to this.

A number of things: You can bunny hop in L4D. If you jump as soon as you hit the ground, you keep the same speed you were going. This is useful for any level with ramps or hills. I don't know what version of L4D you used (I didn't get to watch the videos fully yet), but the release version of the game is the best version to use for speedrunning. It has tons of glitches, and if you were going to do a TSA (Timescale Assisted) or TAS (Using the frame advance built into the game), then you should do it on the Release version. You should keep watch on the SDA L4D thread, as information there is very useful. Also, there is a L4D speedrun that has been verified on SDA and will be release hopefully soon, but I'm told it doesn't do all the glitches possible in the Release version :(. If you need any other info (like improvements to your current runs), just ask. I'm glad to help.

I actually watched this... After setting the terrible plugins, I watched it, somehow. I lost a few of my brain cells from it, and... AND it was terrible. How does something like this even get onto the submission list? We need robot filters to filter out 10 year olds.

This movie should definitely be published, but having seen it, I am fully convinced that it should not obsolete hero of the day's run, because they beat the game in drastically different ways.
It should be separate category like the ALttP run where they go under the staircase and finish the game without doing anything. I think its a good comparison to base a separate category for.

Maybe people wouldn't call it Rainbow Road so much if the level didn't have a road made of rainbows in it.

A USB loader has recently come out for the Wii, it allows you to load ISOs off a USB storage device. Currently it only loads Wii games (though you can trick it into thinking GCN ISOs are Wii ISOs), what I'm getting at is do you guys think this could eventually have the tools incorporated to make GCN and Wii TAS's possible?
Doubtful. More than likely, TAS's will stick to computers and emulators. I'm almost positive to make 'tools' like that, you need to manipulate how the system actually runs the game, which I don't seen happening.
