I'm glad there is activity on that TG forum, and the fact that many people think the 28 run is rediculous. I have bad news though, I'm in over my head with important work to finish, so my run at this game will have to be delayed. :|

the Mr.Slam computer was very cheap though, able to freeze you endlessly until you die.

TM 2 was definitely the best. I enjoyed Black's story more than the actual gameplay. Shadow and Mr. Grimm were the players I would use the most in TM2.

Tom Votava has informed me that TG has now created new game settings for all the DKC runs allowing a no-save run category. Check it out at http://www.twingalaxies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2981

faster than neuhaus' run, contains all the tricks, and is played precisely. There is no reason to reject this submission. Nice work.

this is the product of weeks of planning and testing strats to create this, the fastest DKC 101% run on the planet.

none of them have any influence or reputation in the world of competitive gaming. It's strange that a group of people so inactively involved in competitive gaming are so determined to protect its future. So in short, the cheerleaders of competitive gaming decided to come together, make a site, and root for their team. Nice going.

A group of adults creating a site bickering over runs of video games created decades ago when they were children. Time for a new hobby, don't you think? Edit: I've never made a cheaters list before. Think I'll win the Cheater of the Year Award? I'm so excited, I think I'll go write my acceptance speech. :D

7 mintues real time improvement
the real-time improvement comes mostly from the video being ended earlier this time before the game credits, but this run uses pretty much all our combined tricks, so good luck to anyone who tries to beat it! :)

yeah sure, they've beaten Genisto's smb3 run without savestates but they're too "Elite" to show anyone. Give me a break.

2 minutes difference sounds about right between the versions. I think my potential for legit no-save can be as low as 43; if I had more free time recently, I could start runs using the new set of strats and warps. It's amazing though, that 39 can be reached. We've pretty much cut this game open now haven't we?

I (finally) got my response from TG today, and they're currently putting together a new no-save category for DKC based on what I outlined. Looks like I may submit a run to them after all. EDIT: I just checked their animal bonus records and they aren't too impressive; Rambi is at 858 and Enguarde is at 938. Someone should submit new runs for those.

What the... wait a minute now. Wasn't Longinus the name of the spear in Evangelion too? Where does this name come from?
I don't know about Evangelion, but the Lance of Longinus, or Spear of Destiny, or Holy Lance or whatever you like to call it, is said to have pierced Jesus Christ. It is said that whoever holds the spear can conquer the world but it's loss would mean their death. Some claim that Adolf Hitler had possession of this legendary spear during the Second World War; so naturally, it makes a good Wolfenstein title.

I think you should go for LoZ, we can start those competitions again to help you train for it. ALttP would be a good candidate for my next run, though I've been thinking of a few games recently I'd like to do.

I'm quite pleased with your run, after watching the first two DKC submissions I didn't know what to expect. You follow the proper strat set out in Alex Penev's run of this game, and throw in a little of your own. Overall, you did a decent job; with Alex though, you'll probably be faced with some competition. ;)

What makes this submission different (and radically shorter) than Contendo's submission?
Contendo's run was aimed at 101% completion so naturally it has to be significantly longer because you have to complete all levels and bonuses.

Wolfenstein 3D had a sequel called Spear of Destiny, which takes place before the Wolfenstein 3D story. Lance of Longinus is another name for the Spear of Destiny.

The current, though not yet official, world record for this game is 46:00 game-time units and is held by me. Alex Penev did a tool-assisted run in 40:00 game time minutes. I can't get your run to work with any of my roms, but 53:44 is already much too slow.

you have to go up that horrible thing without much defense, and without the ability to physically attack.
unless you have the moogle charm. Cast berserk on the boss of the fanantics tower to keep him from changing his barrier, but you'll probably need life 3 to survive his ultima.

I've done some testing with this code and here are my results: bonus rooms and bonus victories cost time; screen fades, pausing, and map events do not.

looks like Michaels on the right track; he already found a couple useful codes for this game and the competition cartridge. If this works, it should clear up a few things and maybe even lead up to some new strats aimed at abusing the timer.

frame counts are good for testing real-time strats, but I want to know the specifics of the game's own built-in timer and whether it stops counting in certain places such as when Diddy's victory theme plays in bonus rooms. I don't think this would really work with a game genie or PAR code, but could there be a way of achieving this through some form of rom modification?

find a code that reveals the game's timer so we can see whether using start-select in bonuses is worth it.
