This is pretty killer stuff. I literally was able to make a WIP of a tiny part of Spyro 2 and replay it without desyncs. It emulates perfectly. Unless I'm missing something major, people should be able to TAS PSX games, no?

I'm planning on throwing together some WIPs as soon as I am fairly certain of the powerup locations (basically just waiting for a list from satan)

The screenshot was changed, probably when the SoE description was too. Thanks though!

"Record from now" starts an entire new movie file. What you should be doing in that particular case is: - Create a save state instead of stopping the movie - Go to File -> Movie Play... - Click Browse and then double click your movie - Uncheck the Open Read-Only box - Load that same save state You should be able to resume recording. I was thinking the same thing (would 5318008 have fit?)

Can't you skip most of the story though? Maybe I'm thinking of X...

I'm actually just wondering if "past" was a pun or if it's just a spelling mistake :P Or maybe I just misread

I would definitely like to see: - Any of the Resident Evil games - Brave Fencer Musashi - Any of the Spyro and Crash games - Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - Castlevania: SOTN - Legend of Mana (even though I ended up not really liking it, I think it might make a good 2P TAS) Maybe: - FF8. Though it would somewhat hurt to not really see some of the story, there's no need to level up. And you could probably beat the game by playing cards or something. - Metal Gear Solid - Tekken 3 (though I wouldn't want to see Eddie Gordo Cherry Pick his way to victory) Probably should avoid: - Xenogears (even though this game rules) - Either Lunar (also rules) - Breath of Fire III (a great game but very slow moving)

Maybe I didn't quite catch it correctly, but before the minigames event, did one of the guys say something about someone that has "past" away? =]

Secret of Evermore Shapeshifting dogs. Evil robots. Alchemy. Cheesy B movie references. These are all par for the course in Secret of Evermore, a very loose "sequel" to Secret of Mana. The story follows a boy that is thrust into a virtual world and finds himself with no immediate means to escape. As the boy travels, the geography changes to reflect certain eras of real-life history, adding a unique aspect to the game. Oh it's also probably worth it to mention somewhere in the description that Saturn controls the dog at some points too. Ah, and thanks for updating that Alden! Any way you could change the screenshot as well?

Demon's Crest Suggested description: Demon's Crest is the third installment of the Gargoyle's Quest series. The player controls Firebrand, who is scouring the Demon Realm for elemental Crests, which preside over different elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water, Time, and Heaven). When collected, these crests allow Firebrand to transform his shape at will and gain powerful new abilities and defenses. Demon's Crest (to those who have played it) is notorious for some very difficult bosses. In this run, the author abuses boss weaknesses to the extreme by switching Gargoyle forms when necessary. In addition, heavy luck manipulation was used during several encounters to make the otherwise troublesome boss fights look easier than a play through of Barney's Hide and Seek. I will try to write a description for a movie that isn't my own as well :P

Thanks to everyone for being kind. I feel a bit foolish and I apologize, as my imagination can run away with itself. Specifically, sorry AKA if I was taking anything too far.

It seems like some movie descriptions on the site contain very neutral wording, and some (more specifically the older ones) take some liberties with uses of words like "amazing" and "incredible" in regards to improvements made. Are there any specific reasons for this? EDIT: Post modified so I don't sound so foolish.

I think I do. It's the same principle as jumping up the ropes above the screen in the Donkey Kong Country TASes, no?
Yeah, it works the same way as the ropes in DKC, specifically in the vine level with the vultures and bees. I just don't know why the camera breaks! Heh.

1. The only time that it was questionable to use the charge vs. the stab is right after I land on Enguarde in Pothole Panic. But it's like 2 frames faster to charge. 2. Probably just because it takes longer to optimize Squawks segments, since you have to take into account y speed. Nothing that would affect how well it was optimized though. 3. Those red bees take forever to move. It's a major pain. Best to just jump through them while invincible. 4. I'm not sure how this one works! =D

I don't think you have to pay ever, but you will have to deal with that annoying message that pops up every time you use it. Sometimes I try to extract the file and close the RAR folder before the message window appears. It's fun

Hah! I hadn't even thought of using the cheat code! I guess this is a classic case of thinking too hard about things. I'll begin planning a route when I finish DKC3 in the next few days.

Ah, I was going to ask, but I just figured someone would just put up a link to GameFAQs and tell me to find them myself :P Also, is the maximum Lightning level 8? Finally, I found these videos, which should be helpful (also an amazing watch, considering he plays on Hard and DOESN'T GET HIT): Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 With Boss insta-killage! Stage 4 Stage 5 Stage 6 Stage 7 Stage 8 Oh, I also have to test out using turbo with the lightning some more. I'm pretty sure it never runs out if you turbo, but I'm not sure if it does half as much damage over any given period of time. One thing I would like to do is whip up a comparison list. It would be easy to find out how many frames it takes to collect each of the upgrades. Then you could find out how long each boss takes with differing levels of lightning, and compare the two lists to get an optimal route. Only problem is, it would be no small task to test each boss with differing levels of lightning. Unless you found a memory address that you could change to adjust your lightning level, which, so far, I have yet to find.

I didn't check your gmv files but with these tactics I can kill the first boss in 2 seconds flat, in real time battle, and the second boss before it enters its second loop.
Yup, I made a gmv a little while ago of this, it seems like it would be a great game to TAS, but it needs to definitely be tested for route planning (i.e. when to get Lightning powerups, and when to get animal powerups). It's very likely that you would need to collect every lightning powerup immediately, whenever possible, but as for the animal ones, you might get away with just sticking to maxing out the fireball. The only thing that bothers me is the boss of level 3 (the purple slugs on the airship). You can't reach them with your fireball buddy (not all of them at least), and so you would need to lightning the rest. I'm wondering if powering up the Dragon or Raven would help here. I'm leaning toward no, but I'm not too sure. I found many addresses that display HP values, if anyone would like them. Also, there's an insta-kill for the skeleton pterodactyl thing in the cliff level that's worth a mention. Oh right, here's the GMV

Pekopon: I would gladly give a download link for the SNES that I used, but all links to it seem to be broken, and I don't know anything about uploading files to teh internets.

Absolutely, I'm really really sorry for that inconvenience though! Um, all I'm waiting for now is Tompa to look it over. I'm sure he'll find stuff for me to fix. So far: - Floodlit Fish: fix that dash - Ropey Rumpus: Nxcy showed me a ~10 second time-saver - Koindozer Klamber: Forgot to roll into a Krimp.
