Well, that's a type of desync I guess. Desyncing in this case is the player input doesn't match what's happening in the game, causing it to look like the player loves walking into walls, dying, and doing pointless things.

mmbossman, did you use the modified SNES9X with reset recording? I suppose I'd better put it in my signature, as Nibelung did. And yes, Pekopon, it's probably the slowest DKC game in most regards (although vertical ascension while jumping up ropes is pretty fast).

Sorry if I'm not understanding something obvious, but how exactly would I go about checking the following memory addresses:
s00894,2x,X Cur Pos (1P)
s00988,2x,X New Pos (1P)
s00A7D,2x,X Sub Pos (1P)
s0090E,2x,Y Cur Pos (1P)
s00A02,2x,Y New Pos (1P)
s00AF7,2x,Y Sub Pos (1P)
s016BF,2s,X Speed (1P)
s016C3,2s,Y Speed (1P)
Admittedly, I'm used to the "7Exxxx" format, and don't quite understand this.

That's a pretty great skip! Too bad it requires replanning with the leveling.

MUGG, are you officially working on a 100% run as of now?

Why not a 57 Star Run with restrictions on using cannons or collecting coins on every 3rd level?

In order to get 100% on the file selection screen, do you need to get all the abilities in Milky Way Wishes? For some reason, I remember it not being necessary. Either way though, I'd like to see all of them collected since I remember having a hard time finding a couple of them.

The thoroughly obnoxious sound effects and music were hard to stomach, but the run entertained me regardless, and the last boss was pretty badass. Yes vote here.

Hey, I've worked on this the past week or so, and here's what I've come up with. This is definitely a harder game to TAS than others, but I have a good feeling about it. Anyway, if anyone can take a look, spot mistakes, note improvements, anything, that would be great. (I think this is around 20 seconds faster than what Nibelung had; this number is merely for reference, I'm not trying to compete with him or anything; on the contrary, his WIP has helped mine immeasurably already). EDIT: Uh, forgot to mention that this is the first six levels (Lake Orangatanga)

I think the funniest part was in the gym right after the "baseball game" when one player gets on the the tire being held (or whatever it is) and starts swinging the pipe. I could imagine him screaming "FORWARD! FORWARD!"

Lawd that's fast. A lot of the levels seemed to have the same ideas behind them, but it's definitely still entertaining.

While we're on the topic of this particular YouTube channel, watch this funny collection of KSS glitches and tricks (and general silliness). The Great Cave Offensive TAS was pretty remarkable too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqVpEtzdUeA WOW. I would be extremely surprised if a run like this didn't get starred.

I'm not sure I understand either. Is this not even a TAS?

This is really cool. I haven't watched a shoot-'em-up TAS yet, and I really like where this could go (especially in terms of entertainment; dancing the reticles around each other and having the two characters "interact" are a few good examples that come to mind). Good luck! EDIT: HP for the first boss is found at $7E1D22, hope this helps

You know you think too much about hit detection when you're about to turn left on a road, with cars passing by the other way, and you think "when can I start turning so that I juuuust barely clip the oncoming car behind it without getting damaged?"
Haha, this made my day. It reminds me of when I played OoT too much when it first came out and I wanted to roll down the hallways of the school to get to my classes faster.

Stuff about the WATER code Woah, my bad, I got Bear Coins and Bonus Coins mixed up. I must be tired. By the way, does anyone actually have an official list of the Bear Coin locations?

To me, it seems more that you are saying that knowing (in the way I defined in my previous post) is not possible. I could agree to that. This however doesn't mean that: 1) If someone in fact did KNOW something is going to happen, that this doesn't imply predetermination. 2) That things aren't predetermined.
Definitely true! Personally, I need to think that one can forge one's own way through time, heedless of fate or destiny. Life is more enjoyable for me that way. I'd probably be all sorts of depressed otherwise (which is why I'm glad no one's been able to prove predetermination to me yet)

I have to agree with those saying that knowledge doesn't imply predetermination. The only way you would know that an action or choice is going to happen with 100% assurance is to be omniscient, and to know what is happening everywhere, all the time, forever. Since this includes your own thoughts and actions, I find that this is a type of paradox anyway, since "knowing" your own thoughts creates more thoughts, which you would have to have thoughts of, and these thoughts need thoughts, etc. forever. I just don't see how this is possible. It's like having a insanely super computer break all of reality down into a mathematical equation. Theoretically, the computer would be able to predict the future with 100% accuracy. The only problem is that the computer would have to account for itself and its actions, which would create data accounting for data accounting for data, etc. which is another paradox. (Excuse me if this idea isn't accurate, since I don't know a thing about chaos theory) The only way any of this would work is if the omniscient being or the super computer weren't part of the universe or reality, which defeats the point.

*Sigh* I know. If the camera didn't stop and jerk forward while Aladdin was doing it, it wouldn't be so nauseating. There was a point where I actually hoped this glitch wouldn't save any time ;)

Hm, some of NesVideoAgents screenshots didn't ever happen in the run (9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16), though most of them barely seem to be desyncs and are close to what they should be. The last screenshot is pretty cool.

I'm glad someone picked up on this!

I'm pretty sure it is. I've never been able to ever get something other than 3, 4, 2, 2.

1. can't you throw an apple at that one scarab (not the one int he hole or the final one) to activate it quicker?
Do you mean through the wall, or approaching it from the right? I tried through the wall without success.
2. I could have sworn there was a way to not do that entire floating section on the rope before fighting the boss that throws hamburgers or whatever. Like, grab the rope, let i get away, then grab the next one.
Aw, this does happen, but only if you ride the rope for the entire ride and then drop back down.
hamburgers
Haha, if only. Aladdin wouldn't be so hungry all the time! EDIT: I squeezed in that slide in the Desert, and it saved 15 frames!

I'll see if I can splice in a slide at that point soon. Heroes is on now, however. I'll be back in an hour.

Truncated: I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to run long enough to trigger the slide at that point. Also, if I jumped, wouldn't I hit the ground later? EDIT: Viewing that a second time, I think I see what you mean. The reason I didn't slide through the pokey bones is because it stops you dead for a bunch of frames if you get hit by one.
