Oh man, the first-generation-ness of this game reminds me of the 52-in-1 cartridge we had growing up so hard... Good quick watch of a game I understand to be insanely difficult. Agreed that a few situations seemed quite awkward, but whatcha gonna do?

Okay, so after several headaches and help from some members here I've managed to get this game running. At this time it seems like there will be many more headaches to actually make a run, but prospects are looking up. Sort of. Here's a movie completing the very first level. Unfortunately, it seems to randomly desynch even on me; if it's not successful, try again. I can see this being a very frustrating problem to put up with, so we'll see how much my patience holds up. Uses U version, with U BIOS, recorded off the emulator's mounting device ("Load .CUE/.ISO"). Hopefully it works.

Hey, no need to apologize. Not everyone can know everything about everything else, no matter how minor. It's just a common misconception, that's all. Plus...

They're rodents. They chew on stuff. That much I think I know. I have generic sympathy towards some rodents such as squirrels and mice, but not a very strong one towards any particular kind of them.
Ah, but they are not rodents! They are members of the weasel family with otters and minks. What I got from this is that you don't know enough to really form an opinion. I can accept that. Besides, it wasn't really a serious question, but hey. And yes, you will be missed more than you think. I will always associate this site with you and your name, and it will be extremely weird when neither are applicable.

Now there's some advice I could have used a while ago! I did this and Rayman is running fine. Now I just need to get over the weird graphical issues and I should be good to go. Thank you! Edit: I think we're in business! I'm currently attempting to run the first level, and so far, it's pretty good. Major issues: * Trying to run memory watch while recording a movie seems to crash the emulator. It's happened three times so far. * I've had a few desynchs so far, each one caused by the game loading the next thing a few frames early due to being paused. Keep in mind I'm using the emulator's built in mounting device. Minor Issues: * The "Read Only" checkbox while loading a movie doesn't matter right now; it always loads as "Read Only" * The screen doesn't update for one or two frames when I reload a state. It's actually kinda reminiscent of my first attempts at TASing when the emulators back then didn't do this either. * The last frame of an input file gets carried out until the viewer presses something. Feature Requests/Help Wanted: * Being able to run the memory editor while playing the game would be nice. * For the input display, I would like the directions to be represented with ^v<> instead of UDLR. * Automatic paths for things like save states, movies, and whatnot. * My frame counter/input display looks different from paul's. It's red, thin, and isn't inside a black box. What's the difference? All other issues I've mentioned before are the same. Still, it's actually working so far! I'm excited again!

The only time I found TASing with the sound on annoying was with Punky Skunk due to a faulty sound plugin. Otherwise I find it helpful for keeping my "rhythm" and often makes a better point-of-reference than the video. Especially helpful in Ardy Lightfoot where visual feedback was unreliable.

It seems that whenever a silly argument goes on for long enough, the only logical (heh) result is that people lose their minds and hilarity ensues.

Well, this does beg the question... What "logic" are you presenting here? Edit: And by this, I mean, what was the line of thinking you presented about an issue? Don't say, "I used good logic," say, "I said this, the reason being this." Although why am I even bothering? Kobold is right.

I'm rather saddened nothing impressive was done as the Juggernaut; instead he was made a punching bag. Is he that unlovable? :( I liked it.

He means to say he gave up TASing it because of desynch issues he was having. And you desynched at the wall? The one you have to bomb in the prologue? Hm, never had that issue. There's more problems with this game than I thought. :/

This game desynced for me every time on every variation of snes9x I have, and "allow left+right" was automatically checked. Can you provide more details on what setting works?
If it desynched at the title screen, I'm not sure what happened. I thought I took care if that problem in the movie file. (I'll expound more on that in the submission text when I get to it) If it was elsewhere, I don't know about that either. Glad you managed to get it working, though. Fairly positive feedback so far. Thank you!

If it happened during Grounder's Mine, then make sure you have "Allow Left+Right" checked. Glad you enjoyed it so far.

As for the aspect ratio, if the game also runs at 384x224 (like that Street Fighter game), it should have been left untouched at about 1.71.
But what about the original output device being at 4/3 ratio? The image looks a little stretched if left at its "native" resolution.

I once taught someone like that towards the end of my mission. He was off of so many rockers...

Make it a silver mitt and I'll declare this one aspect cool.

Please tone back the hype. I can guarantee that hyping it up like this will kill the game, if not upon release then in the years after. Unfortunately, my stance on the game is a bit more cynical. Once the novelty of being able to summon something from a list of tens of thousands wears off, where will the game stand? So far it's struck me as little more than a successor to The Incredible Machine, and as such I see it having a nice little niche of Youtube demonstration videos. Nice concept, but I see very little worth getting worked up over.

Actually, ferrets can smell bad, but that's simply because the have a habit of pooping in hard-to-reach places. Aside from that, they don't smell any worse than your average dog.

To start, it's the Genesis version, not SNES. Small pet peeve. The biggest reason I was advocating obsoleting my run was mainly to show that if it did happen, I wasn't going to be upset, but actually somewhat pleased. Although I won't fight the decision that was made, I still think it should have been otherwise. Basically, it's the original version with a better sound track and graphical presentation. The console port had nothing to add except a level skip code, but I'm willing to sacrifice that. It didn't feel repetitive at all. Besides, the recent Pitfall! run was rejected even though there were some differences with the SNES version that affect gameplay. Or so I heard.

One last WIP before I submit. If anyone knows of any tricks I missed or are in the last few levels that I might miss, now's the time to tell me! Also, has anyone else's copy of Snes9x been running progressively worse lately? It seems like graphics have been getting choppier and choppier the more I run mine.

I also grew up with cardboard milk cartons in Korea. The gallon sized jugs that are common in America were unusual to me when my family moved back.
