So this is the fabled Henry I've heard about. When I first heard about "A guy with a gun" in this game, for whatever reason I imagined it would be someone with a leather trenchcoat and a shotgun. Why the developers thought this mode was necessary, I'll never understand... Either why, I approve, and look forward to the other characters!

I can remember you talking about this back in 2005, before I ever left. Congratulations on completing it. You might want to get whoever's in charge of the English spec page to touch it up a little. Specifically, get rid of the first "E" in "Especifications" and change "Idioms" to "Languages". Understandable goofs considering the home language, but yeah.

Oh... kay. Wait, that's right, your v key is borked. For a second it looked like you were trying to type out some bizarre accent. Anyway, about the snowboard. Sometimes jumping up slopes saves a few frames, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know what gives. So, I just discovered a huge mistake in Windy City. It's close enough towards the end, and the saving big enough, that I'll attempt some hex magic. Please postpone judgment of this submission until I finish it. I'll admit I'm caught off guard by how well this submission has been received. I was expecting more reactions like error's, seeing how that's closer to my own. I am grateful for the feedback about the matching game, though. I was rather nervous about how that would go over.

I'm not certain if it was you or not, as I've completely forgotten. You just seemed to be a likely candidate for doing such. Either way, I'm blaming this submission on you. ;P

Recording off the Iso synced fine with the audio. Here is the encode. http://files.filefront.com/13285392
The synchronization of the music doesn't sound quite right (although the sound effects are fine). It's about one second early towards the beginning but then drifts to one second late towards the end. This is the third different synchronization I've heard for this game.

Small necro-bump to share some shortcuts I found in level 8. If you find that level annoying, watch this.

Hm. SaPu's plugin seems to have its own quirks related to the music. Man, I wish I had a Playstation right now. Would help confirm which is more accurate.

Anyway, the run was great! It really is a good game, especially for a TAS, since it never gets too repetitive and the visuals are beautiful (it looks like a good SNES game); also, the minigames were really entertaining and diverse, I'm glad you decided to play them. I really enjoyed the whole movie, good job.
That's some high praise right there. A lot higher than even I'm willing to give it. :O (but thank you anyway)

And what's even better, music seems to work if I use SaPu's CD-ROM Plugin! Which probably is not a good thing either, but it's probably better than complete silence.
Just downloaded it. All I have to say is: Sweet! This is even better since it seems to handle the music commands more accurately, and actually stops when you exit out of the emulator! I don't know how well it holds up recording input files, but at least it will be great for playback. I'm updating the submission text to include this.

I forgot to mention it was an updated test version of 0.0.7, but I started recording using the standard 0.0.7, so that shouldn't be an issue. I have updated the submission with a link to an image containing all my settings that play it back just fine. If that doesn't work, then I don't know.

I finished my my Punky Skunk run, but the topic isn't in the workbench. What's weird is that the index shows NesVideoAgent as the most recent poster, but topic doesn't exist, as though it were deleted the moment it got posted. There isn't even "Discuss this submission" link on the submission page. What happened?

Works for me. I see no other probable improvement. Now just PM Bisqwit or adelikat; they'll take care of it. Anyway, Youtube of latest version! 171 frames faster than my attempt. Nice. I would greatly enjoy seeing this get published. [ib]Edit:[/i] Aw. >:/

What you could do is update the FCM and ask one of the admins to update the submission itself. It's not unheard of.

Nice improvement to 2-1! Although you seem to have missed out on what I was talking about. I apologize: I should have provided an FCM. So here it is. The thing I'm doing is waiting some frames before falling so the wolf passes underneath me so I don't have to punch it. Still, you're improvement is more significant than my find. Good eye.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding things right, but PCSX is capable of running ISOs right off the hard drive without having to mount it to a virtual drive. You'll just need the Linuzappz ISO CDR Driver 1.4 plugin. And yes, I have recorded a movie from a disc and played it back from the ISO, so it should hope. Hope this is useful. :<

My method: Take a screenshot with F12 and check its dimensions. It will be in the "snap" folder.

From what I've read you can fight Loki on the first run through if it is on the hardest difficulty to begin with. Maybe I misinterpreted something though.
Yeah, you have to have the special weapon to get to Loki, but it's only available during the second playthrough. It's not available in the first in either difficulty.

Can I recommend something for your reboot? There's a code you can enter on the title screen (check GameFAQs here) that will start you off in the last level. This will allow you to start the second part of the game much sooner so you can actually get to Loki without much repetition. This allowance was given for the not-yet-made Super Nintendo version, so I doubt the judges would have issue with this. Good luck!

I have looked into this movie and decided that it can be improved a little further. 1-1: Both you and I seem to be rather far away from that first staircase at around frame 660. I'm questioning my thinking of hanging back so as to not clip the steps. 2-1: I just tested this. What was the point in hitting the wolves after falling from those blocks (for instance, around frame 4500)? So they wouldn't hit you, giving you more health to get through the level. I learned that by pausing for two frames, they will pass right underneath you, and you can jump the rest of the way. I also learned that you can jump at *any* point during Herc's punch, so jumping at the end will result in the same two frame savings that jumping at the beginning will yield. This might be useful for saving a few frames.

Same routine as the Super Nintendo version. Except the special weapon in this game doesn't suck!

So what should I do to remedy the constant leveling up and grinding that is required for defeating certain bosses? How do I skip the batles altogether?
First question: a) Find the quickest way of doing so b) Find some strategy that will allow you to beat the boss without doing it, or maybe even circumvent it. Second question: Depends on the game. Some RPGs, like Dragon Warrior, allow just that by waiting some frames before moving on. Others, like in pretty much any Final Fantasy, skipping combat isn't possible. If what you are talking about is that you've already recorded such battles and you're wondering how to excise them from the final movie, you'll have to convert it into a video file like AVI or MKV and do some video editing. You won't be able to do that within the emulator itself because the movie files those play back are input files, and removing input can, and most likely will, cause issues.
