Indeed, I wasn't voting for obsoletion.

I'm not quite sure I understand what the deuce is going on here, but I found it enjoyable. Routing seemed good and everything, things seemed as tight in the short run. Also, I guess I'm just sadistic, but I smiled every time Mr. Hero erupted in a burst of screaming skulls. :> Yes vote for good run and better audio. Very yes for screaming monkey death!

Sometimes when playing FCEU, the sound lags behind the video by a second or more. I don't know what the deal is, or what causes it, but restarting the emulator fixes it. Small problem, yes, but is there any way to fix/prevent this from happening?

TEM: Yeah, I know. I wasn't counting on him being in anyway. He seemed to be more of a gag character in Melee. As such, I might pick up ROB for the same reason I played Pichu: I loved the looks I got. Nothing quite beats the reaction of going into an informal tournament signed up as him. "You're playing PICHU?!" ROB seems to be in the same standing. Although I might go with Lucario. He looks pretty cool to play as. And to qualify my statement about Lucario, compare: Ferret is from the manga Peach Fuzz.

Nintendo was so odd with it's censorship. "Holy Water" had to become "Fire Bomb" in Castlevania, and yet a rather graphic head asploding in Bionic Commando comes soon after the mention of a "naughty word"; how both escaped Nintendo's censors is beyond me.

Rob is stinkin' awesome! *is a Pichu player* *might change his avatar to Lucario since he thinks he looks like a ferret*

I just ran some tests as per your idea. No dice. The only thing I haven't tested is manipulating the counter to be 0 when doing all this stuff, but someone over at M2k2 reported that it doesn't have any effect. So still, metroid genocide. Oh well. In other news, running these tests on the ship has revealed that the room with egg is actually divided between two rooms in the ROM. One for approaching the final ruins, the other for leaving them. Useless, yes, but interesting nonetheless. Question about the two runs posted: Do either of them use a glitch that allows them to walk on spikes or walk through enemies without losing too much momentum? I haven't watched them yet, so I wouldn't know.

I remember when I first arrived movies were organized not only by system but also by "type". By that, I mean the things off to the side of each movie. I think it helped me get into the site more because I could more easily find movies that showcased various aspects of tool assistance. Things like "One player controls two characters". So people asking for organization be classification: we've already been there, and it probably needs a resurrection of some kind. Perhaps the "Cream of the Crop" for each category could be added? I don't know.

You might wanna mark the title for spoilers. Some people here have been trying to avoid things like secret characters and such. Pretty good. SWF has a similar topic, Funny Brawl Pictures or somesuch.

32%. It'd be 34 if I could remember #18! >_< Edit: Nevermind, just got it. 34%. :)

Actually, we do. We have an IRC channel. Link is at the top of the forums. Or click here. Much good is done there. :)

Nice timer glitch indeed. Except, as you put it...

I'll say. Up until I was through watching most of the misty world I was thinking, "What the freak is up with my emulator?!" But then I remembered something about the music being messed up in the submission text, so that gratefully dispelled my confusion. Very nice. Classic case of, "Worst weapon is your best bet," in tool assistance. And how early you can get the mattock caught me off guard! Yes. Very yes!

My first encounter with tool assistance was actually back on my family's 386. My brother had discovered that pressing Ctrl+Alt+Down would cut the speed of most games in half. We used that on Raptor: Call of the Shadows a lot. Ctrl+Alt+Up brought things back up to speed. As for emulators? I don't know, probably some basic luck manipulation in Nesticle or something. My first encounter with formal TAS'ing? Morimoto's Mario 3 movie.

Maybe he's talking about pacing? I know I enjoyed the longer Rygar more than the glitched out run because the pacing was far better. Sure, it was longer, but it felt faster, a case of speed vs. length. Not like I'd know about the pacing of either of these runs, as I haven't watched either of them.

JXQ: It's seems you have encountered your own final boss, and, from the looks of it, you're losing the fight. I'm talking about you're signature, of course. No, seriously. Saturn may have the occasional prideful outburst, but the way you're harboring a grudge against him and everyone who decides to take a more forgiving outlook on his behavior suggests that you are having a greater pride issue. Stop it, please. TASVideos needs less of this kind of vitriol.

I just did some looking into of the queen's chamber, hereafter referred to as the throne room. There are three different throne rooms occupying the game's memory: pre-battle, in-battle, and post-battle. The pre-battle room is where you go if you try entering the standard way without having killed all the metroids. Looks normal, except there's some of those diamond shaped blocks the baby 'troid eats where the queen should be. In-battle is where you go if you beat all the metroids and enter the normal way, and contains the queen. Entering the abnormal way (AKA warping) without killing all the metroids renders the queens immobile, so no fighting there. Post-battle is where Samus automatically goes upon the queen's defeat. Players don't notice a transition. The in-battle room has some interesting physics. Try the leave through any side and it all always try to dump Samus in the same spot: where she'd appear if you left normally. This can get quite weird if you leave through the other sides, resulting in some bizarre scrolling and even entering a secret world. I'll do some further testing tonight to see if I can get the queen active in the in-battle room through abnormal means. After all, you weren't meant to fight the regulars until the very end! Edit: Well, darn it. Just ran some tests on it and it seems that unless I decompile the code and learn assembly real quick like to see for myself what the exact terms and conditions are to get her to come out, I'm going to have to destroy all metroids after all. :/ Oh well. The route I have planned goes up to 20 metroids, so it shouldn't be so bad after all.

<geekmode> Megaman X was built so that he could choose for himself whatever the heck he wants to do. That means he doesn't possess the "Don't kill humans" inhibition. Megaman, as Xkeeper said, is able to repress this built-in inhibitionas demonstrated in the end of MM7 when he almost killed Wily. "I am more than a robot!" His coolest moment ever. </geekmode>

Not to mention Ecco has a Sonar of DEATH! So indeed, Ecco could literally talk Flipper to death. I'm with Upthorn: This matchup isn't fair in the slightest. Intergalactic ocean warrior vs. Lassie of the Sea? Yeah. Not even the talking dolphin from Seaquest would stand a chance.

Why don't we just do what's been done already, IE having the realtime run be on the front with the ingame run being mentioned in the description?

That lousy piece of crap that gives me a headache every time I try to play it? No kidding. Good job with this movie, emu. I thought this game had good TAS potential when I first played it a while back, which is why it made it on my request list. Sure, it doesn't have the break-neck speed of some of our more recent submissions and publications, but I really don't mind. In fact, I like it. It's nice to have a relaxing TAS to be able to calm down with every once in a while. Not to mention the game is beautifully animated and is very pleasing to look at. And that's not even getting into the tricks and precision in the overall movie. Plus, as I said in IRC, you waste time effectively. The little dances and microhops were well appreciated. All around yes vote. Thank you for making this.
