I'm appreciating your help, Irdoh. I'm always replacing my screenshots by yours. However, I'd like to know what is the batch script behind this optimized awesomness!

The comparison video is great, but it's annoyingly unseekable (or at least my version of mplayer cannot seek it). Probably lacks keyframes or something.
I can't seek in VLC. Yeah, that's a major technical problem. Next time, I won't use --keyint infinite.

I suppose it'd be possible to suppress playback of one of the channels, which you can't when they're not separated, but do media players actually support that option?
At least VLC can playback a single channel.

Comparison videos get painful to listen to if the sound gets badly out of sync. That only happened once in this run, fortunately. If you make a comparison video for a run where the music doesn't reset as often or where the improvements are more frequent and/or drastic, you might want to consider only pulling sound from one of the movies.
I'm thinking of pulling the sound of each movie on each stereo channel next time.

It'd also be neat to show the per-segment improvement and the total improvement so far.
Yeah, I'll try that next time, but there is no guarantee I can make such a thing.

That said, thanks for making the comparison vid! It was fun to watch.
No problem!

Wow! More than 50 downloads for my comparison already! And good feedback as well! Thank you! I think I'll make more of them, and maybe an HD encode for this one, for my YouTube account. And also, a Yes vote from me. Nice improvement!

Basically, this is a Mario-themed version of Doki Doki Panic, and it is the official Super Mario Bros 2 outside from Japan. Because, the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2 was thought to be too hard for non-Japanese people. They later released it to America and Europe as "The Lost Levels" in Super Mario All-Stars.
And in Japan, they got our Super Mario Bros. 2 as "Super Mario USA". So yeah, Japan played this Doki Doki Panic clone as well. ---- I'm working on a stage-per-stage comparison video for this run, containing a frame count and a timecode for each version and stage. It may come tonight It will come tomorrow, in SD and in its native frame rate. ----

I voted no because this is not Super Mario Bros 2. Runs of this should only be done on the Japanese original.
If you carefully look at this post (not in this quote), you'll see this is a joke, and you shouldn't take this seriously.

Made encode 4 megabytes smaller than Nahoc's while being 100% lossless still (Including audio), uploading soon. Also uploading my own HD encode soon.
I'm sorry to tell you that, but I think you've wasted your time with your HD encode, since Nahoc made one. Unless you've wanted to do this for fun. And for the SD encode, nice job, and stuff, but it was Nahoc's chance to shine as a future Publisher. I think it was somehow a little bad move. However, I'd love to know how did you do that, but we'll talk about it when we'll catch up on the IRC channel.

Edit: Would someone be willing to make a comparison encode with the obsoleted movie? I think that would look pretty cool as well as showing everything this submission has to offer.
I'll try that.

Sorry, and sorry for that publication. I didn't watch the older movie and by seeing the time and the lack of branch name in the older movie, I thought it was something to publish alongside this one. * Mister Epic is ready to get shot in the face.

I'm against all of these shots. I think shots of heavy graphical glitches should only be used for any% "glitched" runs. The glitches were very surprising and entertaining to see, but I think those screenshots would project a misleading image of the run to viewers who aren't yet familiar with this game.
Yeah, that's a good point. We don't even see Mega Man in these shots. It's fun to see glitches, but to get a good idea of the game itself, the main character should be visible. So here's my screenshot suggestion.

So yeah, we have 3 screenshots so far. These are optimized as much as I could, but the first one is not very optimizable, since it has some optimizer-killing colors. Anyway, for publication, I'm asking your opinion. Click here to vote for your favorite screenshot, and the most voted will be used for publication, of course. And please, don't tell your votes on this thread. I don't want a discussion to be started about this.

When a run destroys a game and leaves damage for the rest of the run time, I just love it. Yes vote!

Just curious as to the last level of Swamps of Forgetfullness where you jumped before the fall to the finish. Was that a mistake (as it seems slower than just falling) or on purpose to get all the tings?
Yeah, that was on porpose to get all the tings, but I think it's unecessary, but since I'm pretty far in the works, I'm not getting back at this point just to save a few frames. If I get to create a whole new movie, I'll avoid that jump. Thanks for pointing that out!

Game: Rayman Advance System: GBA Authors: scrimpeh and I Progress: Blue Mountains, Mr. Stone's Peaks. Getting near the running ability, destroying cages on the way. I'll get back to the Jungle levels once the running ability is acquired. Discussion: Post #258767 Link to video

(Post #500) Another WIP, and today, we have taken a huge step (at least 16 minutes) in this TAS. Click here to download the VBM, or look at the encode below. Link to video We were way more cooperative today. I was streaming my TASing session over my Livestream channel while scrimpeh was watching, commenting and sharing tricks. Thanks to him for that!

Oh hello. With his permission, I'm continuing scrimpeh's TAS. As a result, it will be a collaborative work. That means everything else you've seen so far is untouched, and I'm simply making the rest. So, here's the first WIP of our work. Click here to download the VBM. And below is an SD encode from the WIP. Link to video My part starts right at the beginning of the last Music stage. Thanks to scrimpeh for finding this big shortcut at the beginning. Then, for the following Jungle stage, I found a trick to climb up faster. Right after I plant a platform plant, I jump an deploy the hair helicopter right before the plant deploys itself. As a result, I get automaticaly on the plant, without jumping after the plant has grown.

If no one else has a better screenshot to suggest, it will be this one. Something illogical is happening there.

Oh my god, I had this problem as well and it was such a nightmare! I have two solutions for you. I'm not sure if the first one is still useful, but I suggest you to do it, since it's simple, and it helped me a lot. 1. Do not encode the audio into FLAC and import the WAV itself in the MKV instead. 2. Aktan gave me this particular version of mkvmerge. Extract the 7z in a dedicated folder other than the one with your usual mkvmerge. Then, after you've made the MKV using your usual mkvmerge, move the MKV in the folder containing that special mkvmerge and run this command: mkvmerge.exe -o out.mkv in.mkv . Then, send the "out.mkv" to YouTube. I hope I helped you with this.
