I believe Nitsuja actual fixed that ancient VBA bug. :) (Other things that should have lagged include the Sarris fight and possibly power bomb usage as well.) I'm sort of afraid of the Nightmare fight. Because this is a 0% run... well, five less missiles scares me a bit. That's 33% less missileness, which corresponds to longer, more durable Nightmare, now for only 5 easy payments of $29.99 and if you act now we'll include this handy X-core free of charge!

It's certainly possible I was thinking about the missile part and not this one.

Inside the dam(n), the room where you climb a ladder, the door to outside the dam(n) is straight above you, and there's a gap just to the right of the door that seems too high to jump up. I believe I've not only seen people jump up there on the actual console, but I thought it was done in the current TMNT TAS run? Anyways, I hate that dam(n) mission.

Well, Megafrost told me he'll work on it some more. Now I should get MY ass into gear and finish that Rockman and Forte run. =-o (Of course, not while at work. <.< >.>)

I've been reminding Megafrost weekly, often multiple times a week, but now he's more obsessed with getting his Blaster Master speedrun done. (Although what we really need to do is get him to stop playing Runescape... that's where he's really burning away his free time.) Although, the competition is not as worrying as I originally thought. One thing I noticed is that he started from SRAM/RESET, which is officially against site submission rules (but personally is something I hope isn't so rigid, especially in the case of games like this.) However, even taking into account the intro vs no intro differences in their runs, Megafrost's execution of that part was 15 and a half seconds faster. Various reasons... mostly the boss fight. I think mostly it sums up to him doing speedrunning tactics / thinking a bit more like a speedrunner with accuracy and not quite having the TAS mindset yet. In other words, it's still going to be very entertaining, but will also have lots of room for improvement.

Hehehe... funny. http://www.kraftfam.org/~erk/nesvideos/mmsoccer.zip Two little test movies I made of Mega Man Soccer. The second goal in mmsoccer.smv is definitely funny. :)

All I know about Youtube is that lots of people ask questions about (and link to) it at Gaia Online. Although I admit I know nothing about it (but I don't know anything about Google Videos, either.)

That's called a quine. Here's a page that has examples in various languages.
That's right, they had a name. Hahaha... It's bad enough not to remember the name, but forgetting that they even had a name? Thanks for the link. :)

I don't know any Perl, and it looks almost like random gibberish to me, but I was wondering... Basically, a simple little puzzler we were given in college (for .1% overall extra credit in the class, hahaha) was to make a program that prints itself out. Rules were simple; commands like Basic's "List" (printed out the program... old 1980s programming) weren't allowed, and the program wasn't allowed to search for itself in memory/on the disk/etc and print itself out. It was pretty fun, although admittedly simple when complete. Anyways, I was kind of wondering what a compact Perl solution to the problem would look like. Anybody?

I listen to a lot of video game music as well, but I also listen to a lot of anime music. If I were to try and identify some of my favorite music for the time being, it'd be between the following four songs (which I like to listen to, to the point of frequently repeating the song after listening to it.) Mermaid - Chobits (anime) Mezame - Mai-HiME (anime) Magus - .Hack//Mutation (video game) Forze Del Mal - Kingdom Hearts (video game) (Although typing this up made me realize that there's a song from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's that I really want...)

Actually, I think the boss fights could be much more entertaining because you have a better chance of using circle strafing as a last resort. You might be able to spend a lot of time hugging the boss doing minimal dodging.

As for the question of how fast it should be, the Megaman Legends run on Speed Demos Archive is 1 hour 8 minutes. I think that one is newer than the one I've downloaded and watched, but even still if I remember the differences between the that and this N64 version, there's less loading times in this one? If that's so, I wouldn't be surprised if we could get it under an hour? That would certainly be my hope/goal, anyways.

Mostly work and anime. Lots of anime. Every once in a while I bring out my MTG decks, or play some game, but yeah, mostly anime. Anime anime anime. And some more anime. In fact, I'm having anime for breakfast right now. (~The best part of waking up, is anime on your screen~)

I thought it was a sort of funny way to talk about it. Of course, an English teacher won't grade based on that. I think most of the things Dromiceius pointed out would be something the teacher would take points off for (even if your essay ended up being more readable than all the others'.) At least that's the impression I get...

Well my name is fairly unique... I came up with it fair and square and all those other Gigafrosts are posers and copycats! (Actually it might be true... google searches for my name only turned up me and some Wild Arms monster in the past... then somebody registered an account as Gigafrost and it was a guy from my forum.) Also, I think my name is pretty unique... but since I guess it's not unique anymore it's not pretty anymore. :(

4 piles of four, weigh the first three. Best case: they all weigh the same, hence they're all known good, both bad ones are in pile 4. Take two coins from pile 4 and a known good one. Weigh them. Best cases: both tested coins are the same.

Well, hopefully the slacker would stop playing his stupid games and work on this more. I've been pressuring him on a weekly basis, and he slowly makes progress. Given that it's been more than 5 months since his last post, I can guarantee that he's made a little progress. Anyways, I'll use this as a reminder to remind him to work on his run. Hopefully I'll remember to look at your VBMs when I get home from work tonight, but I highly doubt it. (I haven't even gotten to see the new Mega Man 6 run nor the 100% Mega Man 7 speed run.)

How many stages do you have left?
I'm on the last stage. (Yay!) Since I will be going back to a previous point, what I have left to do is: -Pirate Man -Burner Man -Magic Man -Ground Man -Tengu Man -Wily Boss 1 -Wily Boss 2 The paths to Burner Man and Magic Man shouldn't take as much time as before since I don't need to do as much experimentation as I did before. Kind of makes me wish I had done more work on it over the weekend since I am so close.

Me too. Megafrost demonstrated that it would be interesting because of Mega Man's more limited movement. Of course, I'd also like to see it done quick with anybody; it's been 14 months since I started my run and by golly it needs to be finished. On that note... I didn't do a lot of work over the weekend, but I did determine whether or not I'll fix the extra energy problem. As I mentioned, I would either not pick up the energy before King, or not pick up the energy before Pirate Man. Starting from before King would, again, kill my enthusiasm. The good news is that both energy capsules resulted in 15 frames of delay. Since it doesn't matter which one I skip, naturally I'll be skipping the one before Pirate Man. Yay! ^_^

I know what you mean. I'd dive into Silent Hill right away. (Or at least I'd want to. It'd probably be similar to the current speedrun except for the somewhat small path change I mentioned to him, the usage of the red liquid glitch, and possibly getting to the main boss with no ammo (30 second boss fight, could avoid the ampoule and more ammo, current fight is about 28 seconds including menu stuff))

Well, my alarm didn't go off this morning, thwarting my plan of giving an update before leaving home. I'm at work right now, but I'll give a brief update and possibly a movie when I get home. For starters, I tested death-glitching the tank. It might be possible to shave a couple of seconds off of the boss by having the ice wall drop into the boss and you dying; creating the ice wall to damage the rear component. Basically, if you create the ice block on the component and die the frame afterwards, it's 8 frames slower. You basically need the ice block to live longer, and only creating outside of the tank and having it fall it could do that. I suppose it's possible to do, but at this point I'm too far along to want to try. I did redo the flying mid-boss and improved a surprising 4 seconds. Most of that was actually hitting the boss much earlier; I better understood how the drill does damage and realized why my previous attempts to damage it failed. I also optimized the death glitch really well. :D The death glitch doesn't work against King, but if you're fast enough then you can have text on the screen when you respawn in the 3rd mini-level. :) Interestingly enough, the final battle against King had the same glitch as Bass from Mega Man 7; the last hit deals damage to him even if he's flashing. So, basically I only had to hit him 5 times (which is good; I took a lot of damage in order to hit him as early as possible.) I'm currently just at the Magic Man rebattle in the final level. There's a problem, though. Up to that point in the stage, my Tengu ability went to 8 bars at the lowest, meaning that one of the energy capsules I grabbed before is unneeded. I'll measure the one before King and the one before Pirate Man with the hope of not having to start over with King to fix. I'll probably also experiment with hex editting to see if I can fix it, but I'm not very hopeful about any of these panning out well. Since this error is so obvious, I don't think I want to submit with it in there, either. I'll try to remember to post the latest movie when I get home tonight. If there's any use for that, it'd be that in the next stage you start under the bottom of the screen? Entering Metalman's stage instantly kills me to death, but Quickman's screen instantly scrolls me down. I'm not sure if the rapid scrolling glitch (Bubbleman's stage) can be executed like this, though (since I have no clue how it works)
