Update: Cleaning up Silver Submarine, currently 7:23 ahead of the old TAS. Also need to redo Cart Run because the RNG seed will be different. Link to video

Out of boredom decided to TAS one of the later levels. I should just be able to copy the inputs later when I get to this level in the actual TAS. This shortcut saves about 1:30 - 2:00 on RTA runs. Link to video

Just a small update, 5:19 ahead in the last room of Contrast Cave. Used the secret exit to skip the miniboss and spawn at the bottom of the third room.

I did it! Skipped a true autoscroller. Made possible by the fact that I figured out how to move vertically downward while out of bounds. It was as simple as realizing if i put a line at kirby's base, I get sucked farther down into the floor. Link to video

I broke this autoscroller a bit more for good measure Link to video I know for a fact that the screen wraps around after a while back to the end portal but there are a bunch of factors that make me think getting to it would be impossible without cheats.

Been a while, thought I'd give an update. Just finished Ghost Grounds, almost 3 minutes ahead (~2:55). Will have a lot more time in the next few weeks to make some progress. EDIT: ~3:40 ahead leaving Growth Grasses

So this will actually save a lot more time than I expected. On average I'm saving 10.5 seconds per reset, and I can do this on 14 of the 22 courses. This adds up to 2:27 over the course of the whole run.

It was previously overlooked that you can reset on Dash!Jump! and you still get the level cleared. So 2/3 the levels now will reset to save a few seconds. You can't reset when you need to fight a boss minigame.

Great stuff! I don't suppose a speed boost in the line game is possible / would save time?
You can only draw a line after the long dash panel ends IIRC.
You can actually draw over the boost like 25% of the distance to the end but you have like barely enough ink to get a boost, let alone two more lines to zip which would be required to save time.

Any% is my top priority, I'm just talking about future projects because when my TAS is done there will still be untapped entertainment value out there in the same game

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback.

the run that doesn't use the oob glitches would say "in bounds" as a branch.
You know the more I think about it the harder it is to justify "no out of bounds" because the fastest way to traverse all the levels is to use the same method to clip into walls but in open air (you get launched really far). So even if you avoided going out of bounds you'd still be zipping and not showing off optimized line movement more in the spirit of a "theory tas" I couldn't come up with any clean resolution, so instead got thinking more about an "All Main Game Medals" run, as opposed to 100% which would have to beat all levels multiple times plus more in line/time trials. The category is a misc category that I was told about by an RTA runner, which just requires beating the game getting the 3 medals per level with the kirby ball and ending on Drawcia. The reason I would want to do this is because the out of bounds trick don't just serve to make the levels faster, but they allow for some insane sequence breaks related to medals as well, getting them way earlier than intended in most cases. I think it could be really cool. For the time being however, I'm just sticking to any% and am going to get started in the next few weeks

Fun fact, the TAS will get 1, maybe 2 medals (RTA gets 0). Also, the TAS will skip more minibosses than it fights. Today's batch of skips will explain: Link to video Link to video Link to video
