If I may give an additional tip.
In case of desyncs in some areas, always check the area of desync and figure out if it has something to do with a random factor such as enemy RNG patterns or something else. When you figure out the cause, you should adjust your inputs so that it works without losing time. If it possible to delay frames without time loss, I suggest playing around with the frames until you get the right result.
Hopefully this wasn't too confusing.

The issue with that would be reducing the number of Star runs which have the most for one series or franchise, prime example being the Mario franchise with 10 different movies in the Star tier.

Update: Sadly, I have hit a road block in Casino Paradise Act 1 and can't get the pattern that I need with the additional improvements within the level. Perhaps this is the end of the line for the V4 improvement...

I'm sure that if a 4-stars run would be made, there will have to be some ground rules set for it, otherwise it would be almost like random messing about and wasting more time.

It's too bad that more can't be done now, but the work done was a spectacle to watch! As graywords said, it'll make for great ground work for any future improvement of the game so very nice job!

Even if a run were to be considered or worked on with those wanted things, I'm pretty sure that they'd warrant a separate branch from the published run. Not only that, but the entertainment factor would be questionable at the least.

I think I got it working now! The input timings didn't match with Speed. I had to lower it once during before the reset, then increased it back to normal after the title screen.
Btw homerfunky, that was me who said that via Skype.

In the spirit of TASing, I shall be TASing 3 games. One of which will be Emerald revisited. Working on the planning phase right now and once I get a general idea on the updated route, the work will begin. Prepare for Emerald hype!

As turska has explained, this game is a more complete port for Donkey Kong than the initially released Donkey Kong game for NES and the published TAS of that version appears to be on equal grounds as this submission with the addition of an extra stage from the original arcade version.
Even with the additional stage, I feel that it should be side by side with the NES DK due to the originally packaged game being its own game on the native system and this one is more faithful to the original Arcade version while being packaged as an NES ROM stored into a Wii Virtual Console WAD.
As for this TAS, I hadn't initially seen Phil's NES Donkey Kong TAS until this game surfaced and then I realized that it was interesting. Knowing that the strategy for this run is about identical to that one, it can be a tough call. Nevertheless, I was a bit entertained to just go with a yes vote.

It is simply my perspective on the matter and even then, it wasn't with full certainty. More testing with the other characters will have to be done to see where it leads, but the question was asked how different each would be, time & content wise. It's not exactly a matter of strictly saying one is faster than others. I shall again use Sonic Advance as an example. The main Sonic Advance run published on the site is the fastest using Sonic & Tails, however it doesn't disqualify Knuckles, Amy, nor Tails (alone) from being there too. Same thing here. It mainly depends on the quality of the runs with the other characters (from both speed and entertainment perspectives). I do apologize if I didn't make that clear.
