Going with a YES-vote on this one. Thats a huge improvement, but a bit repetitive.

I will need to take a look at this when I have some more spare time. Sounds interesting. Also.. Personally I would not mind to see a hack where 3 player is allowed. Can also be cool. Cheers

Sorry for not keeping you up to date so frequently. I have a busy schedule which keeps me away from doing TAS:es most of the time. Today however I did have some spare time to do some more work. I have decided to remake a great part of the game because I need more energy to clear out the bosses after the Snowman. The problem is that Snowman is a bitch to manipulate. In a perfect world, or with some understanding of how the snowman can be manipulated, I would not need the extra energy. In theory it is possible to clear him off without buying any more, and still have enough to clear out the upcoming bosses. However I am limited as it seems right now, and therefor I'm going back to get more energy tanks. So as far as I can tell, I will need to remake the entire castle, again, in order to have more for the bitch fight with snowy. Would be ironic if it changes the way Mr. Frosty behaves in his movement, letting me clear him the way I want right now. The most optimal way to kick the boss would be if he continued to move in the x axis, back and forth, in a height which I can jump easily, yet avoiding his minions. Then I could hit him 3-4 times with each phaser-shell. 4 hits is extremely hard to pull off though. Hopefully the next update I post here will be positive though. Stay tuned. Oh, and if either of you is good at making Lua-scripts, it would be very helpful to have hit-boxes and other useful things. The addresses for health I already have. Another thing that comes to mind that I very much would like is something that tells when it's possible to hit the boss again after the cool-down. Cheers meanwhile.

Why didn't Sonic continue to compete? Makes this very boring. No competition if there's not two competitors, right? Voting NO on this one. Hopefully you don't give up, but present us another, more entertaining, run in the future. Good luck! :)

I'm pretty sure the iPhone SDK lets you emulate one on your mac.

I was just wondering if any of you people know of an emulator to emulate the iPhone? Would be pretty sweet.

Would be nice to be able to set for how many frames it will dump the AVI when outputting a movie for example. I hate to sit around to stop it manually, especially if it's a long run.

Here is a Lua script I used for Snes9x. This will show up in the AVI output as well. If you want to use it for another emulator, see http://tasvideos.org/LuaScripting/TableKeys.html local table={} while true do table=joypad.get(1) if table.B then gui.text(0,0, "B") end if table.R then gui.text(20,0, "R") end if table.L then gui.text(25,0, "L") end if table.A then gui.text(5,0, "A") end if table.Y then gui.text(10,0, "Y") end if table.X then gui.text(15,0, "X") end if table.up then gui.text(90,0, "^") end if table.down then gui.text(95,0, "V") end if table.left then gui.text(85,0, "<") end if table.right then gui.text(100,0, ">") end if table.start then gui.text(30,0, "Start") end if table.select then gui.text(55,0, "Select") end emu.frameadvance() end

Um... Vampier... Could you elaborate a bit more about the attempt? To me it looks unoptimized at plenty places, such as opening a door in the battle against that big tank coming at you for example, missing shots against enemies, taking detours in rooms, and just wasting plenty ammo. Is this a TAS or is it something else? I will cast my vote when I know. I was entertained, but still those questions needs answering. Thanks meanwhile.

This was awesome. And it did add some entertainment with the encode from pirohiko. Would be nice to see a link for that when this run gets published as well. Then people can choose what ever video they want. Thank you for a great run!

Going to vote no on this one I'm affraid. The graphics are fun, as well as the new names. But I think it added far to little to have a separate TAS a longside from the real Punch-out game. Sorry. Still a good run though.

Giving this a meh. The game really did not appeal to me at all I'm affraid, eventhough the run it self might be good executed, and the possible difficulty of this game.

Another movie comes to mind concerning this question: Groundhog day with Bill Murray - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107048/ Slightly the same concept right?

This guy already have a TAS tool for IRL usage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpG5YuyNrqM I want it. Would do all sorts of crazy things with it. :D Don't use the rewind when going to the bathroom. Might feel weird. ;) Maybe I could use the fast forward function to be more productive when it comes to making TAS:es? Endless possibilities for an IRL TAS-tool. Please make one soon.

Voting YES on this one. Very good executed, and entertaining at the same time. Is it possible to see a continued run with the fantasy world 9 included? Cheers

I didn't know that those special tricks are hidden. I used them commonly when I played it in my youth. Good to have a list of them though. I'm not sure about the code thing. I think I would like a legit TAS without code better. But I'm up for options. The code would make things over powered I think.

Wow! That was amazing. I don't have the time to elaborate right now because I need to rush off to work, a bit late already, because I could not stop watching. :D Cheers and good luck with the rest.

Wow.. This looks amazing so far. Keep it up. Can I place a yes vote already? =)
Post subject: Some java programming issues

Hi people, I'm once again poking around and playing with the java language. I never was a programmer, and I'll probably never will be. However I find it amusing from time to time to install a compiler and give it a go now and then. This time my issue is the following: I have a text file with string values in it. It actually contains numbers as well, but it is not for math purposes, so I consider them to be string values as well. I do not know how many rows this file contains (of course I do, but not for the purpose to work actually), and I need to import this file into a multidimensional array into the program. In the GUI that I've created I have check boxes which which should then output groups of what is actually contained in the file. Question is, how do I import the values in my file and then output only what I have selected in the GUI? If you want an example of the file it could look like this (making it separated with semicolon right now): Sun;Box1;10;Group1 Flower;Box2;20;Group2 Cloud;Box1;30;Group1 Sky;Box3;25;Group3 So for example, if I in my GUI select the group 1 check box, I only want my program to output those rows. If I select check box 2 it should only output group 2 from the file. Currently I have 12 groups, and these can be combined, so I could for example output Group 1, group 5, and group 12. Could you guys point me in the right direction? Delving through books and tons of pages on the internet is just not how it works for me. I've tried to read, and watched some tutorials, but I am much better off when shown straight away how it should be done. If it's not to much hassle it would be nice to see some code examples, and a great deal of good commenting. Cheers for any input.

Unable to find a thread about this game, even though I'm sure we had the topic once, I was bored and looked into this game a bit today as I'm home, and being sick. I'd love to see a run of this game, mashing though all levels, however I'm not going to do this one because frankly me and the emulator is not getting on very well with each other. But I hope that someone else is willing to pick this one up. Some thoughts and perhaps some goals: * Would it be possible to scrape together 11000 gold in Rookie Mt.? If so the level 2 alpine board would be available before level 2 (Big Snowman). * Tricks in every possible corner would put a nice touch to this since it normally can be hard to execute in real-time. Even if it's just a board grab worth like 30 gold it can look nicely executed. * Place in first for every lap would be the most optimal right? * Showing shortcuts in those level that house them. * According to the FAQ at gamefaqs.com there is a glitch involving making a board slide on a railing. Maybe we should investigate that further, and perhaps perform it in the TAS? Is this trick also possible to execute elsewhere? * As far as I know, Tommy should be the character of choice since he is the fastest, although I'm not sure that speed is everything. Better handling might even be faster? Cudoz to any one who makes an attempt at this. Cheers! Edit: Did a search on youtube and found this Time attack of Rookie Mt. in 28'23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beNKcXMpcBQ Might be worth to take a look for rout planning and general ideas about dynamics of this game. Edit2: I forgot about the ejection tricks. When standing at the beginning of each level you can eject your self faster if the timing is right. Press and hold the A button and release it in just the right moment. Normally I just look at the baloon with the pet firing of the start signal. After the "GO!" is seen it is near time to release the A-button. Not to hard to pull off while playing in real time. Another trick is to eject from the chairlifts. As you arrive on the top you can press and hold the A-button and release it about when the distance to the last pole of the chairlift is half distance left. Not to hard to pull off neither. Actually found it harder to perform while using re-records. But then again I did not put so much time on it. Often the issue is that you release the A-button to late. Also a thought on getting the most money and possible allow to buy alpine 2 board already before the second stage is to get one of those rat items that snatches all the gold from every other player. Use it in the last heat when the gold level of everybody should be top. If this is how it works that is?

I'd vote for a 100% run as fast as possible. I love this game, though I only played it on PC. What about the graphics between the N64 and the PSX? I think that ports for N64 are generally bad isn't it? Quite scaled down and messy looking.
