I only tried it at the school level to max speed + hang time. And it is enough to get over the roof gap at the secret tape to reach the cash. Thanks for the second video that you sent on IRC. I will host it later as soon as I've downloaded it, and re-uploaded it to my server. Cheers for the ideas so far. Edit: Uploaded the 100% goals+cash speedrun by Dr. Zaius which I got from Tub earlier. You can find it here

After reviewing the stats of every skater I think it would be very wise to go for Jamie Thomas as the skater of choice. This is because Jamie can handle the big drops since he has the best landing stats available from start out of all the skaters. He is also on par concerning speed, which is set to 6 from the beginning. Because of these starting stats it is possible to kiss the rail at the first half-pipe in the hangar, ollie, grab the cash, and make the landing without bailing. In the test I did playing with Tony Hawk I had to take an alternative route in order not to bail upon landing. In that play I go up on the lamps close to the ceiling, then I have to land in a grind over the half-pipe in order to keep my points and not bail. With Jamie I would not need to get up there at all. Just grab the cash as you're coming down from the start. Not sure what stats to upgrade after the hangar yet. Speed is of course very favorable throughout the entire round. Any thoughts on stats-distribution would be very helpful. I might go ahead and record a test run of the hangar with Jamie to see how it compares to Tony's run. Edit: Tub told me on IRC that he had a 100% speedrun for THPS2 on his hard drive. Didn't get a response from him after he said that, so I went ahead and found it by googling instead. The download link can be found on this board: http://forumplanet.gamespy.com/tony_hawks_pro_skater_2/b50195/9425240/r9425252/ along with some comments. Good to analyze routs and ideas. Thanks for sharing Tub!

Nah.. I know that the route is a bit sloppy. I just wanted to see what I could do with it. And it's also my first time recording with Mupen, and it's a bit of a hassle for me. Not used to it etc. Feel free to pitch in. I would love to get ideas for this project. I don't even know how to perform all the tricks, so I think when I get around to know the game better I could make a whop-ass run. Another thing I was wondering about is how to upgrade the stats. And also if it would be worth it to tweak the board to have softer trucks etc. In the school level for example I think I need either better Ollie stats, and/or speed stats. Perhaps even some landing to make those leap of faith things. I've been looking at the school level and it seems a bit harder to plan the route there. And there will be some more backtracking needed to get all the goals and cash in one heat for this level I think, if at all possible. Some of cash things are way out of the track. Might get tricky to grab it all in one go. All the goals I already know is possible, but to bring the money along? I might go ahead and experiment some with that level to get a feeling for how the planning can be done around it. I already jotted down some ideas earlier that I want to fiddle with. I'll keep you posted. Edit: Got these RAM-addresses from Nahoc in the IRC-channel. 00AB7C84 is speed in competitions. 00AB7B74 is speed in every other levels.

Yeah. Saw that run. He's going for an any% run, while my test is a 100% goals + cash run. :)

Went ahead and made a slight test with THPS2 for N64 since I couldn't get a PSX emulator working with re-recordings. The run is a bit sloppy at parts and can be improved. I just wanted to show what it might look like. Any route planning and ideas are welcome. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1931814151/THPS2%20%28USA%29%20Highness%20test1.m64 Edit: Oh and here is a save state file so you don't have to watch those boring 1500 frames of disclaimer in the beginning Save State

Having mayor problems running psxjin. Tried it both in Wine and in VirtualBox running Windows XP. Crashes in both cases. In Wine it gives me "Error when creating secondary sound buffer: DSERR_BADFORMAT - The specified WAVE format is not supported" While under the VM it just gives an error asking if I want to send this report to Microsoft. In both cases psxjin crashes when I try to load a game. In this case THPS2 since that's the only game I have right now. I have verified that THPS2 works in PCSX under Linux. Fully playable etc. I have tried all the versions I could find of psxjin. Also I have tried various bioses. Still the same problem. Can anyone help me trying to figure this out? If more tests are required, or if you guys have any further questions, I'd be glad to provide what I can to make this emulator functioning under Linux/wine/VirtualBox. Which ever is a better solution. Thanks! Edit: Also tried with Mortal Kombat Trilogy now. And same type of crash happens.

I've been fooling around with THPS2 for the past couple of days. Like I wrote in the submission for the N64 run I found some glitch that ejected or zipped me down from a roof. Today when I played a bit more I was able to jump through a ceiling and land on the roof by using wall ride from the ground. This could show useful in coming up with shortcuts. The level it happened in was Venice Beach. When you go down the stairs in front of where you start, then take a right turn following the rail on your right hand side. You will come up to a building where it says "Oren". This is where I was able to jump through. Not a big achievement maybe. But never the less something to add to a possible list of glitches to abuse in the future. :) Edit: Nice little video of someone who makes all the goals (no cash) in one run in Venice Beach. Link to video Edit 2: Some more videos of 100% goals and cash. I thought it might be great for route planning for a 100% run. Maybe 100% run can slow down a bit...
Hehe. You can always snatch the movie file and use a slow motion setting in your video player. Or on youtube you just have to hit the pause/play button very rapidly. :) Edit: I was just playing around with THPS2 for PSX. Found a zipping/ejecting glitch. Not sure how to reproduce. I had very low speed when coming up to a rail when I started to grind it. Got zipped down from the building. Not sure if this would be helpful at all, but maybe we can find out how it works, and maybe abuse it. Also not sure if it works for PC or N64 for example. I know that PC has some various glitches which are documented elsewhere. Just wanted to share my finding. Cheers!

Charming video. I always feel warm in my body when I see a new Super Metroid TAS being submitted. :)

Yeah, an encode without the loading screens would be preferable in my opinion too. :)

I'm giving this a weak yes. While it is well executed I felt that the entertainment level was a bit low. Loved the bull-ring strategy though. I feel that there are more loading screens and menu scrolling than actual game play going on. I would suggest going for a 100% run with no restarting of stages, as in not reload the stage to go from start again in order to achieve the goals, unless needed in order of completion of course. That way we get to see a lot more creativity going on I'd say. Mind blowing combos, as well as dazzling stunts, and maybe even completing a level in one sitting? Cheers for taking on this game!

Shitty game, yes. Publishable... I don't know. I'm leaning more towards no I'm afraid.

I'd love to see the arcade version done. Brings back some nostalgia for me. Used to play this in the cafeteria at the local bathhouse when I was a kid. I also played the SNES version a lot, but this version is better.

Ok, once again sorry for the lack of updates. I'm going to resume work on this during the upcoming week. Right now I'm waiting for a new job to start. So I'll be free for one month. Going to focus a bit on this again. Always something coming between my real life and my TAS progress somehow. But since you've been waiting for years already I don't suppose you've got a problem with waiting a bit longer. Hehe.. :) Just wanted to say that, and to let you know I'm still on this task. Thank you all for your support so far.
