You should not submit your movie like that. Rather enter the proper thread and post a WIP of your run. The submission board is ONLY for complete runs.

Level 3-1 done now. Damn laggy, and hard under normal circumstances too! Playing this level on Expert difficulty this fast is nearly impossible in real time I feel. :D Some of the simultaniously pulled off tricks are outstanding and very frame accurate. You might think it looks goofed. But I ensure you that it's planned. ;) http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Wonder_Boy_III_-_Monster_Lair_(JUE)_[c][!]-WIP4-ByHighness.zip I added a save state in that file for your comfort. Hope you enjoy this days work. Doing over time here. Waiting for my bro to pick me up and go buy food for the MIDSUMMER PARTY!! :D Cheers!

Well.. Knowing that some pieces are static it should make the run easier I think. Since you can just write them down and plan a better, more complex and advance run.

This sounds like a fun idea Keith. Please create a new thread with Blockout when you got a WIP run to show. :D

ROFL! Damn. Thats true Bisqwit. I was watching the same thing a couple of years ago, now that you mention it. :D I didn't look for more info about it as my friend posted it to me. Sorry for the typo as well. March, Mars, Marsh. Hehe.. Same thing... NOT. :)

I have problems with that too. It works really strange some times. Other times topics with new replies in them doesn't show as highlighted. Further more, if there are highlighted topics with new posts in them they go un-highlighted after a while even though I haven't read them. Thats strange if you ask me.

Ok.. I have tried a couple of diffrent emulators now. Genecyst, Kega, Xega, Ages and RetroDrive. All works fine in single player. I can do what ever I want without getting it to lag. I tried to provoke lag as much as possible. How ever, when I run the game with two players, it lags like hell! Could this be a problem due bad input reading from the controllers? I mapped two controllers to the same keys on my keyboard in the other emulators. In Gens I used my default config with diffrent mappings. Still lags in Gens, as well as the other emulators. I still claim that we should bring the clock frequenzy up a notch. About 4Mhz would be sufficent right? Then everything should run smooth with no lags. :D

I received this from a friend. Seems cool. I'll be checking it out. >Subject: Red Planet encounter >Date: Sun, 12 Jun 2005 19:03:44 -0400 > > >The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Wonder_Boy_III_-_Monster_Lair_(JUE)_[c][!]-WIP2-ByHighness.zip Enjoy this second WIP which shows level 2-1. Use the save state if you don't wanna watch Level 1 + boss again. This state starts where the first boss explodes. This stage went very smooth I must say. I used a good tactic if you ask me. I was a bit concerned when I got to those hanging snakes. Due to alot of lags I wasn't able to shoot as much as I wanted. I began to sweat that I would have to go for a diffrent tactic. Damn I was releifed when I saw that snake go up in smoke. :D If you wonder why I stumble on rocks I do that because I don't want to spring the green guy up in the air too much. I figured it was a cool alternative way as well so. I don't know if this should count as "taking damage to save time", perhaps I should bring forth a new category saying "Taking damage to entertain" or simmilar. Hehe.... Oh well.. Nuff' said now. Go ahead and see for your selves! And PLEASE add some comments to it. :)

You guys knows this game is filled with wonderful glitches or super shortcuts right? In some stages you can do three laps in a matter of a few seconds! I have seen videos of this. But I can't find them any more. I will check if my brother can dig those ones up because they are really sweet.

The consol version lags a bit as well. BUT NOT THIS MUCH! :D Never the less it's not about emulation accuracy like you mention. I still feel that it's the quality/enjoyment level that suffers from this. As I mentioned before. I rather watch a run without lag.

As I'm making a Wonder boy 3 in monster world speed run ATM I would very much love to have this setting in Gens as this game is filled from beginning to end with LAGS. I do understand that it can be concidered as cheating. But if you ask me it would raise the enjoyment level of watching, atleast in this game, about a 100%. I know this has already been discussed in another thread. But I really felt that I had to bump this up into another thread as a request this time. We are making movies for enjoyment. And I do not concider lag as enjoyment. Please programmers! I'm begging deep down in the mud on my bare knees!! *cries and hopes someone hears him* We don't look so much for perfect emulation anymore. We look for perfect results. And by that I hope perfect watching results are included as well?

Made a small test video of level 1 + boss. Damn annoying fish. Playing on expert mode of course. One thing that will be of great trouble is all fruits and all other health or stamina regaining items out there. Takes so damn long time for it to count down after each and every boss. At first I thought I'd avoid everything. But then it came to mind that it would be more or less impossible. So I just ran through and blasted everything possible instead without minding fruits, cakes or weapons. Well.. Most of the weapons sucks. The best ones are shurikens, flame and missiles. This game is in general kinda poorly developed/programmed I feel. ALOT of lags in this game which cannot be avoided I think. Anyways.. Give me comments and hints etc on this wip please! http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Wonder_Boy_III_-_Monster_Lair_(JUE)_[c][!]-ByHighness.zip

Then I suppose it's OK to publish all unlicensed games? I don't assum it's a habit. It was just sooooo cool to see you share a game like that. :D

Really a great game and it's warming me to see that someone picked this game up. But I see alot of mistakes in your movie. You should redo it using frame by frame advancing instead of going at full speed. Read the guides on the forum to get a bit more knowledge about it. For example you sometimes stop at obstacles, slows down or bump into things. Another good thing to think about is at bosses, to hit them at first possible frame. They may NEVER stop flash, if possible of course. At the first boss I saw only one good attack which was the third attack I think, where you crouched at the tree and dropped down. That is quality. Be more darring to get the entertainment up a large bit as well. Further more, I think you should try to avoid as many carrots as possible, since that seem to take time at the score board. Unless the music has to play fully before stopping. :) When entering the caves, would it be faster to slide down the stairs instead of bumping into the wall? Sliding under crows VS. Taking damage. Which one is faster? I'm really glad that you posted your WIP run. Please keep us updated about it. We are all here to help you improve YOUR run. Even though we might be picky etc. This game also hosts alot of hidden stages. So I suggest that someone start on a full version of this game, like Viper7 did to SMW. :) Thats all I had for now. Keep it up. Don't be affraid to ask question. And last but not least: BE PATIENT! :D
