I'm up to level 7 now btw. Cut down alot of time in level 6 by taking damage. I only wish I could take more damage. A bad thing in level 6 is that I have to wait alot for stuff to happend. Sad but true. Anyways. This level was cut down with 4,65 seconds. On to level 7 now. :D Total time shaved off: 19,5 seconds.

Okay, looked trough it now. Some comments: - Stage 1: Is it possible to shoot the last shot on the stage boss jumping away from him instead of toward him? This way you'd have less walking distance to the end of the screen.
Well.. I tried diffrent things on him for over an hour. I coulden't go too far to the right because then he could not jump on the wall to the left. Instead he would jump down and turn into a ball and start rolling, which means he's invincible. I know that it sucks walking that long to move out from the screen. But it was the quickest way to do it in. Compared to the old time I beat the boss one second faster, but due to the long walking scene I only gain like 20 frames. :( I didn't found a way around this problem. So I thought I'd be satisfied by it and move on.
- Stage 2: I've got nothing. Good job.
Thanks. Took alot of training and testing to figure it out. I was about 5.7 seconds faster here compare to the old version. :)
- Stage 3: at 1:23, could you let loose the shot while jumping forward? Now you're forced to stand still while firing. Same thing at 1:42.
Well.. I could. But I woulden't gain any time doing so. I release the charge button 3 frames before it's fully charged. The meter will still get fully loaded. If I begin to jump the shooting animation starts over which means I have to wait anyways. It doesn't look styleful though.
1:30 at a small jump up a ledge you hit the corner. Could you jump quicker or land differently? There are probably more of these which I missed.
Corners are a problem in this game. Some times I have to go high above them to get over them. So I would say no. I have really put effort in this version to get everything as perfect as possible. Because I don't like those halts my self.
1:34 flickering is gay.
Love or hate it. :)
1:45 something, you charge up to kill a wall. Could you start to charge up later, skipping one landing-while-charging (= losing speed)?
Well.. If I did that I woulden't be able to kill the wall as fast. If you notice I fire the shot just as I land. Then I jump and fire in order to charge again, landing right infront of the flamethrower and fires the killing shot.
At 1:50 you charge up for no apparent reason. LWC might apply here too.
LWC? Anyways. I didn't necessarily have to charge the psycho fully. I just did that because it felt good. I do shot in order to jump higher though. It's a glitch I discovered. You can compare if you want by jumping normally and then shoting plus jumping at the same time. This only seems to be true while on elavators though.
- Stage 4: at 2:04 something you start charging up before the boss and land once while charging. Could you start charging later? It looks like once you reach a certain point the screen starts scolling at a fixed rate, there should be time enough to charge then. It looks better the second time you fight it.
Sure. I could start chargin later. But it woulden't affect the time anyways. So I won't bother correcting that.
Boss: long shot - could you do one more double hit by taking damage afterwards, jumping trough the snake?
As much as I would want to do this it's not possible it seems. I've tried that alot actually. It's not possible to jump through the snakes.
- Stage 5: both snake thing bosses: can you release the shot earlier? It looks like it's stuck on max charge for a while, but it might just be that the attack takes some time to perform.
If I release earlier I won't hit them. :( Everything is frame-precice to get a lower time.
That's it, hope any of it pays off. Good luck with this one.
Thanks a bunch for the comments. I really appreciate it. If you notice anything more, please tell me.

Those questions are not stupid. Nor are your comments. I gladly appreciate them. The locations of the second boss is fixed the first time they appear. If I don't kill them they will teleport away to a new location. If you watch my first submission of the game you'll see that they have exact same possitions. Yes. I hit the diamonds at the exact possible frame avalible. Thats my goal with all bosses. Actually against the diamonds I fire a bit earlier in order to charge the psycho and be able to shot the diamonds again at the very last frame avalible before they take off again. So it's a very precice move. Also. I'm not sure people will notice. But against the diamonds the "missed" shots does not hit the boss it self, but rather a shot that the boss fires. :) Of course I will add that those "missed" shots are there on purpose in the submission text. You can check my earlier run at the following link: http://tasvideos.org/queue.cgi?id=414 Now I'm about to carry on to finish my run. Cheers!

Second part of level 5 is now complete. Hehe. I'm feeling good at posting in this thread. Used a diffrent rout compared to the old version. This includes missing a powerup. But it seems that I don't need any more powerups. I didn't know the max before so I did try it out. Turned out the total of this level saved me another 2.3 seconds. So this comes to 14.8 seconds faster. Great huh? =) There will perhaps be some questions when I submit this new movie. In level 5 where I choose another rout. It seems slower. But I tried this out carefully and it turns out that the lower rout is about half a second faster. It does include more jumping and fiering though, which seems pretty dumb. But as I mentioned, I tried both ways and the lower way gave best result no matter how I did it. Cheers! Let's see what level 6 can give us. :D

First part of level 5 is now completed. Kicked the miniboss without problems. This just amazes me more and more. Compared to the old version this first part of level 5 shaved off 2.3 seconds! This means I'm 12.5 seconds ahead. I'm just sooooo eager to continue right now. Just had to post the progress. :) Compared to the old version I don't kill all enemies in my way. I rather jump over them and focus on walking towards the miniboss. There were some major hard situations where I really had to try out every way possible when jumping. The missed shots so far are ment to be there to charge the psycho. I tried to do it while hitting enemies, but it just get's too complicated some times, and it would look more stupid to walk around with a full charged psycho. Besides the psycho fully charged takes a whole lot of time to fire. There for I choose to "miss" some shots.

Did level 4 today. Gee.. I didn't think I could save any time there at all. Turned out that I saved another 1.1 second. So far I'm 10.2 seconds faster since V1. This is getting exciting. Let's see what the upcoming level can give me. :)

Ok. So I decided I would go on abit more with this. Still on level 3. Shaved off half a second already after half level. To bad I haven't found virtually any place where I could take damage to save time so far in this level. I continued until I finished level 3. Hehe. This is pretty good if you ask me. Shaved another 3 seconds! :D So far I'm 9,1 seconds faster than current version. I don't think I can save that much time in level 4 as it is right now. But I proved my self wrong earlier as well. Oh. One great time saver in level 3 is that when standing on an elavator you can sorta spring from it, pulling of a jump that is higher than usualy. I use that trick twice.

This was amazing. The thing I felt was greatest was that you don't stop to gather olives. The current movies are kinda boring to watch because of that. But you did great in just moving along and picking it up along the way. Awesome job. This is a YES vote of course.

There were a few things that I find wrong with the movie, however.
How come you submit the movie if you don't find it totaly flawless? The chance is that someone else will notice and get unsatisfied with your result. I haven't watched this yet because I don't have the time right now. I will watch later though. I just had to ask you that question.

Other than graphic and sound, which seems worse on the genesis, I can't find any diffrences. I played the SNES version when I was younger as well.

I really encourage you to do so Dan_. BTW. What settings do you guys use since you can watch this run without the desync? Could someone post a proper config perhaps?

Could you give some info what you are planning and testing ATM? =) This is not like a regular speed run or something. This is more like studdying a game and totaly break it down. :D

Yeah. Oh. And about Super mario kart. There are some awesome shortcuts that wasn't really ment to be there. Sort of glitches. Would be awesome to see it all pulled off in one long movie. I'm talking about beating some levels in matter of just a few seconds.

The Mortal kombat games would be nice. But MK2 ain't possible yet. Atleast not for SNES. And the version for Genesis just sucks. F-zero would be cool as well I think. Could be a tid bit monotone. Gods. Not exactly a top game. But I'd still watch it if it was done. Indiana Jones. Can't remember the exact title though. Battle toads 2p mode. Secret of Mana Final Fantasy 6 Chrono Trigger and all the other RPG's of course. :)

Hah! When I didn't think it wasn't getting any better until Deborah's cliff warp was pulled off, this shows up. Awesome mate! A yes vote indeed. One small question though. When you travel on that raft with the woman which you shows the crystal. Would it save time to stand closer to the screen ending in order to get the the new screen faster? Or even jump into the new screen and re-spawn on the raft? We're only talking frames here so it's nothing big. I was just wondering.
