holy crap, I followed m64 from foda test run to foda test run, and I have to say, that was the first video that has impressed me since, and it was just a single star... I look forward :)

I thought the technical skill was definitely there, but the entertainment wasn't there for me, so I sadly voted 'no.' I believe videos like this should be focused around mostly weak attacks and weaker characters to allow more meat in the dish, you know?

i'll bite -- someone toss me an avi with CBR audio (so it works in virtualdub) and i'll manually remove the doors under the assumption that this is a publishab;e quality run

I've been following this site for at least half a decade, and I simply have to say that this is by far the best movie on the site. Very impressive

Ignoring your strange sentence structure, do not forget that this site still claims to be built off of "entertaining" movies and not just fastest run period. As such, disliking a game is a very valid complaint (otherwise movies like Front Line* would be accepted). *I am not saying that movies of bad games are bad in and of themselves, but they are against this site's current guidelines; unfortunate, but that is a discussion for another topic
Hasn't near every other Mario 64 improvement been accepted? That might say something about the general feelings about the game. How many hundreds of pages did the test run forum topic get to? Don't compair Mario 64 to Front Line.

What the fuck happened to this site? I have not been around in a while, but what I always liked about it, is that it was a programmatic dissection of things which honestly didn't need it, just as a hobby in peoples free time -- people who enjoyed it got together. It wasn't gamefaqs where people would get at each others throats over pointless crap. I, and no one else, really give a shit if you did not enjoy the game, get over yourself. I'm not 14 years old anymore, sorry if you are (even if not physically). This run was awesome. I followed whoevers runs from the time of his early 120 star test runs, must of watched 90% of them released. It's insane how far it has come, and I'm glad to see other enthusiasts carrying the torch as others have left, or simply in the spirit of competition. But, ya, they're tool assisted speed runs, not political campaigns. If this gets voted in, your kids aint being drafted into a war.[/i]

bad looking avi version. I kept turning down the bitrate trying to make the file size small. I finally hit 170mb and decided to give up. I forgot that 150mb of that is uncompressed pcm audio. Opps. So you now have a bad looking audioless avi. Enjoy!

Tetris also has a list of predetermined peices. The following code nop's that branch: GEVOVAIA The computer now gets randomized peices, but uses the fixed movements intended for the original fixed set.

It takes a list of directories containing roms and determins what type they are via the file extention. The list can be 1 directory, or 5000000 :) The default directory is if the rom is not found in the db, the default directory where the file select dialog will show.

I rather liked the video. Suboptimal, unoptimized, but if we're voting over if we enjoyed it, then yes.

The sound problem with the size of audio data could be repaired in a few ways. If the emulator takes the input and encodes it to a lossy format such as mp3, then transcodes it back for the DS software to use, then the mp3 could be stored and used with out a problem. Alternatively, the mic registers could be logged per frame. If the mic is toggled on/off, then the 0x00000000 that will be there 98% of the time will compress down to zilch, plus it will be a format usable in a frame based file format. This is probably the best way to go about it opposed to storing the actual audio samples. Audio samples will never be frame perfect synced, and can not be hex edited very well, most notably after a compression is applied to them. I am looking forward to seeing what the many creative minds here can do with DS speedruns. Once this becomes a reality, it should be a very interesting year in this TAS community.

Some thing I mentioned before on these forums is that I believe recording formats should be input pole based and not frame based. Keyinput can be poled 0 to <insert large number> times per frame. Instead of frame advance, input pole advance should exist. I do not know of any games that pole key input in a manor aside from 0 or once per frame, but I doubt people are checking if the games do this or not.

It has been a while since I've asked for this, but could command line movie playing support be added to the Windows version of SNES9x? I would love to add SNES as a supported format in http://red-stars.net/content/Emulator_Movie_Front

Very good, and there was stuff in there I've never seen before. Such as the bank roll glitch. Also, you mentioned you can get into the yellow key building in Fareinheit, how is that done? Btw, I believe you missed some Vitamin X in Flood Zone. It's in the unwater elevator. Yes vote.

That was a last minute addition. AKA found that glitch about a week before we were set to release the video and Fernito shaved 4 seconds off with it. I don't really know the user maps too well, but your runs looked very good.

Low quality (320x240 xvid 245mb) Medium Quality (640x480 x264 512mb) High Quality (640x480 x264 669mb) Google Video Duke Done Quicker, a set of speed runs created by Fernito and my self as a sequel to Duke Done Quick, contains improved and unparalleled times for all of the levels in Duke Nukem 3D 1.5 for DOS. These sets of runs were made over the span of years and were not in any way shape or form tool assisted. Full information about every glitch featured in these runs, as well as the runs in .dmo format, can be found at http://www.red-stars.net/ One minute and twenty eight seconds were shaved off of Duke Done Quick by using a plethora of new glitches and new paths through the levels. The total run time of the video is just shy of 40 minutes because we packed this full of extra videos including levels from the expansion packs, "100s" runs, and more. We are sure that every avid Duke fan will be greatly pleased by this video. I can't help but recommend that you grab the highest quality video that your computer can play back smoothly. The high quality video looks nearly lossless, and the medium quality one looks very respectable, as well. A list of level times and the amount of time saved from Duke Done Quick: L.A.
