With a memory hacking tool like MHS, shouldn't it be easier to test this? you could manipulate the wanted speed from anywhere, and adapt the speed to get in the right position on the right frame?

If he wants to publish it, then let him. I would still vote no. The reasons for voting no are obvious to me. In the end the run probably won't be published due to the japanese rom. How far into the tas are you at the moment Grunz? :D Can't wait to see the final product!

does anyone really know what manipulates the randomness? Like, does number of frames taken before a level count? does number of frames between 2 levels count? or does it nullify itself on entering a new level? frames spent on star selection screen and such... if we knew approxmately what causes the levels to desynch on hex editing, we could maybe manipulate the luck to be the same... e.g. if it is the time spent between levels and the time spent on start selection screen... that would mean that if we want to hex edit the start, we also have to exit the same picture as the one before the star we want to hex edit in. e.g. I made a 100 coin tas that is 4 frames faster than the one used in the 100% speedrun... but since I had an unoptimized route between the levels before entering the level, it makes my 100 coin tas waaay slower, or useless, since we cannot hex edit it. shouldn't be too hard to test? I bet alot of you tasers know what usually manipulates luck, better than me so...

can I make a noob question? what does hexing mean?
I think it is the same as copying, cutting and pasteing the inputfile... basicly...

I haven't watched the run yet but I was thinking it'd be cool to make a video where all the cut scenes are edited out, and maybe pauses too. It would be kind of like action football where it's just all real gameplay and everything else is edited out.
shouldn't pauses be included? since it is gameplay and not a cutscene? and total time of pauses is less than half a minute anyways? :)

Noone could be wondering about that right now if she's good looking enough.
funny ;)

I think asking for progress also shows that people actually want to see this run. I bet I would lose alot of motivation if noone was wondering how I was doing and wanted me to do the best and stuff... I'm so excited about this run! ^^,

For me, I want to see a full TAS of: -Majora'a Mask "glitchless" -Ocarina Of Time "glitchless" And I'm sure that it is a very long run.....
I'm pretty sure if you want them "glitchless" you can probly watch pretty optimised runs at SDA. and I bet (and know) that if you watch untassed segmented speedruns of OoT (and probly MM too) you will see many advanced glitches that at start were most likely tas only tricks. I think SDA would be your best shot.

Do you think we could manipulate the tektite to jump higher or at diffrent angles by maybe rolling or moving in a direction before the real roll? I think I used this while trying to tas the kokiri wood escape. Made the deku shoot higher than he did when I tried to hold other buttons... And I do not know if this manipulates the deku nut, deku shooter OR Link's position... all I know is that sometimes It hit me and other times it didn't... But I guess you have all tried to manipulate it already with lots of tries... havn't tried to tas a tektite hover yet... might give it a shot...
