So the jerky movement helps move the NPCs... great, I guess. But I have hope that it's possible to do with a little more fluent analog movements. I'm probably wrong in that hope, though. It just sucks when something like that saves time because it is completely nauseating to watch. It's like wobbling, but for the whole screen instead of one sprite.

Of course. There's always a reason.

*Looks at erokky's post above, which you already referred to* Seriously, don't you have a size tag to moderate or something?

Awesome. It's nice to know that javascript can be useful on these forums for once. Are you SURE you want to append your signature to this short post? Yes, I'm positive, thanks for forcefully triple-checking, asshat.

I would love this option, and see no reason for intentionally not including it. Small size tags were forcefully removed; why didn't everyone just ignore those?

Would you insult or reason with a mosquito? It can't communicate effectively, it doesn't care what you're saying, and in the end it's just out to annoy you. Unless you enjoy standing in a group of mosquitos, I hope people can learn from my mistakes and save themselves some valuable time.

I see the two items I never found when playing this, I think. One was around 185500...there's a graphic glitch where Samus rewraps the screen. Any idea why this happen? (The other was the diagonal-morphball-shinespark in Crateria to get power bombs. Didn't know you could angle upward with that!)

Rising Tempest, this game is 30 frames per second, so 43 frames = almost 1.5 seconds. Also I'm voting no again because it's the only protest I have to the missing 16 star run :( (Also I did watch the run, so I'm not voting blindly)

In general, rejecting an obsoletion often goes against two of the things mentioned on JudgeGuidelines: 1) "Hard work should have a reasonable chance of being published." 2) "Don’t demand them do tedious laboursome optimizations that can’t actually be noticed in the viewed video." So unless the drop in entertainment is extremely noticeable, I think it's a bad idea.

I too have a bad ROM, mine has a hacked intro. Otherwise I'd check this out as well.

I just wanted to express support for this all-souls run. It's very fun to watch souls topple effortlessly out of enemies in mid-stride. It's like a free shopping spree. "I'll take.. you, and you.. and one of those.. oh that one looks nice.."

I liked most of the run. Control was especially awesome. I hated most of what you did during waiting periods (shifting back and forth rapidly), it was like 3D wobbling and it was nauseating. I'm not thrilled that several levels have graphical emulation problems, either. Overall this makes my vote meh.

Interesting.. but how did you determine that the value was based on "pixels"? What distance does Majora's Mask consider a pixel for this address? Something like "The 1-pixel strafing distance when Z-button camera length away" is all I can come up with. Reminds me of a calorie "the amount of energy it takes to raise a centimeter of water by 1 degree." Also mL instead of cm. Also possibly other corrections.

Values in memory don't have to represent pixels per frame, either. For example, Mario's top flying speed in Super Mario World is 51, but it isn't 51 pixels per frame. I'm not sure what a good consistent measurement system would be for all platforms. Also, do any of these games not run at 60fps by default? If so then the pixels/frame would need to be adjusted to an average over 2 or 3 frames.

Characters from Legacy of the Wizard move faster than Tiny Toons with enough speed scrolls. I think I remember Bisqwit telling me the max speed was half the speed of Mega Man zipping, which would I think be 8 pixels per frame.

Hello, I would like to offer my opinion as the weighted average of the opinions presented before me, with weight directly proportional to how recent those opinions are. Sincerely, Generic TASvideos user

The first part is interesting (before the robots), as it's a little different than the current run, and it uses the duck-run in midair-glitch a lot more than the other runs, which is probably my favorite of the glitches. (I think because it really should have been caught in development XD) But by the time I was done watching, this is very similar to the glitched run, but longer and still repetitive. So I will throw away my vote on the 3rd party candidate Meh.

Speaking of Misty Star World, I think it would be neat to make a demonstration of that level only, disregarding lag, power-changing, and other timed stuff, to allow freedom in going crazy and showing oddities in the game. Two things I'm thinking are to bring in a sub-item (cloud?) and maybe use that fireball powerup from Big Boo's Secret.

Chef Stef, I think that you bring up good points. Where I think we differ is in this particular part:
I'm just saying that users should spend their time thinking about "how do we broaden this site" or "what new features should we add in the future" rather than always complaining about things like "X movie was published, why wasn't Y movie published?" It's a waste of energy, in my opinion.
I think the most effective way to broaden the site or bring in new viewers is to keep up fresh published material, as it is the main goal of the site. So by debating about publications, I am thinking about exactly those things you say that we should. I also think that this particular discussion was handled maturely by all parties involved.

Comicalflop, thank you for the information. I feel I should also contribute. N64 TASing: I do feel that many later-generation games don't work as well for TASing. I was spoiled by games with no intro, no story, no long pauses in the action, high framerates, and so for N64 games, I miss those qualities, and usually get annoyed when watching them. I did buy an N64 when I was growing up, but SNES was my prime. It's not surprising that N64 holds some of your fondest video game memories since you are a few years younger than me, so your prime playing time (age 10 to 16ish for me) was on N64, where mine was on SNES. Despite this, there are some games that make good TASes for me. I really liked the last 16-star Mario 64, the Turok submission, the F-Zero X videos, for examples. I also feel that the emulator was accepted too early, and that this causes headaches and inconsistency. VBA20 is pushed because it fixed some bug in Super Mario Land, even though it's less useful as a TAS tool. On the other hand, N64 has some emulation problems that, although small, are there, but they are accepted. I'm sure you feel this frustration as well with things like the OoT pause bug. Overall I have taken not liking N64 TASes a bit far lately, and have tried to give N64 TASing a fair chance again. Time will tell. Arguing: I have since realized that my arguing with Phil was overall a negative contribution to the site, and have tried my best to curb it and just ignore him. I actually remember thinking that you probably see me as very similar to Phil: When I got here, Phil was pretty much universally respected despite his attitude, because he is good at TASing. From your perspective of first arriving, I'm guessing this looked like a very similar situation with me. This realization actually helped me to stop arguing, because being compared to Phil is the last thing I want. I also remembered that post I made toward you in Mario Kart 64 thread, after posting the initial question here. I came across very harshly in that post and did not need to, and I apologize for that. Keep it real homey :)

I hate this retort, always have. It says nothing.
I think the users here need to calm down and think about what the general goals of this site are, rather than nitpicking for inconsistencies.
The arguments on both sides were aimed toward the good of the site (those opinions differ in some cases though), so I'm not sure what you are referring to specifically. Admins and other authorities should be ready for reactions on decisions regarding site content. People should be ready to argue their point if they feel the situation is bad for the site, instead of keeping quiet for politeness's sake, as the site would presumably suffer in the long run.

But to put the question in a more general form: Am I right in understanding that you don't want us (judges) to ever reject movies that are slower than they could be when they're though faster than the published movie?
I want you to be consistent. SMB2(U) was just published with like 10 seconds of improvement possible. This is rejected for 32 frames. I think it's inconsistent. I think the morale of not just this group, but all players will take a dive if you start nitpicking this closely - something the JudgeGuidelines page says not to do.
