That's probably the first thing to try - finding the right ROM. There are sometimes overdumps or bad dumps of games floating around. In the case of Ocarina of Time, I think there are actually three official released versions. The run uses v 1.0.

This is more than just pacifist, this is no killing enemies, no taking damage, no power-ups and no moving feet. It makes for some very interesting situations, especially in the latest levels with several flying enemies, but it also has its dull spots. I will vote meh.

This game is like Shatterhand, but much faster! Very nice job, and welcome to Tasvideos.

Doing a 3-player TAS might be pretty involved, but I can't imagine it being harder than getting more than one person to cooperate while working on a TAS when they're in the same room. I imagine it would be even harder over a series of tubes.

FODA, the best example I've done of input-dancing is in the latest Super Mario World run with Fabian. I also did this "caveman-style" :) (most of it was done during normal play, but hex-editing was required for some of the extra buttons) I have written a (very buggy and not-close-to-finished) program for more complicated input display patterns, but I haven't used it in a TAS yet. The results are much less cool than I thought they would be, so I'm not sure if I will be taking the time to do it or not. I've only seen the first half of this run so far, I'll watch the other half later today. I really like the boss music.

Is this the game where Spiderman beats up homeless people? That's our friendly neighborhood Spiderman, alright! I'm unsure of the TAS potential of this game because I've only played it for about a half-hour total.

Does anyone else think this screenshot is not very good? I mean it's neat that he's sliding on spikes, but two of the three on-screen enemies are partially missing due to flicker caused from sprite overload.

If you use the code tag, you can write in monospaced text that tabs well, though it is this awful green-on-white color. Edit: I guess an example would be helpful.
Monospaced font is fun! Though you may still have to type in notepad to get tabs in, then copy and paste. I dunno.

Hey Maximus, apparently VBA keeps track of the emulation type in two spots for added redundancy.
VBM.html wrote:
020 4-byte little-endian unsigned int: gbEmulatorType (value of that emulator option)
So whenever you implement that as editable, be sure it puts the right value in both spots, or you'll run into the goofy problems that laughing_gas and I did trying to fix his movie, where the cursor says SGB but the emulation type is still GB, or whatever. Holler

I missed this. Apparently the VBM keeps track of it twice for redundancy. Who writes these emulator formats, Warp? Anyway I changed that and found the ROM and got it to sync when a 28 frame delay was added to the beginning. Microstorage stores micros! Though after seeing it, I can see why you didn't want to use SGB's colors. Bleck.

The last boss looked unoptimized to me but it is probably irrelevant due to the way the gun shoots and/or luck manipulation. Overall this was a decent movie but I really didn't like the train level much at all.

I...really didn't like this movie. Maybe I'd like it more if you could turn the sound effects off, or the massive flicker, or the stupid seizure screen after a boss dies.

The submission says this is 94 frames faster, but the two movies are only 30some frames apart. Is this one of those "end the movie at a different spot" situations, or is it just a typo? Anywho, I just watched this, and it was meh. The goofy air speeds make it look incredibly unoptimized even though it most likely can't be improved by all that much.

It all comes back to "because this game is Mega Man". Your many other arguments with people here about MM1 was that the game was being broken by so many glitches and wasn't entertaining. That was what you repeatedly said. Obviously S3&K is a different game than MM1, but there are striking similarities that show conflicting interests from you when you vote no on MM1, but yes on S3&K. I'm no longer taking your votes/posts seriously. You were fine with me until you decided to try and invent some logic behind your voting pattern instead of just saying it was the way you felt. I know you don't care what I think, and blah blah how dare I come up with such ridiculous claims, and how wrong I am about your intentions, and how you have the right to vote "no" and on and on and on and whatever. No need to repeat it yet again, as it's not changing what I've said here.

Hex editors aren't specific to different types of files. Any hex editor should be able to view/edit your vbm. Though it is a bit confusing how it's laid out on that page. I changed the value to "04" on the file you supplied, but I don't have the ROM so I'm unable to see if it syncs up, but it does show "Super Game Boy" as the selected mode when I open the movie file in VBA. Good luck, hopefully it syncs up for you.

I think all you need to do to change modes is use a hex-editor to change the byte in offset 016 to "4" instead of "0" (for SGB, right?). I may be confusing my hex values though.
VBM.html wrote:
016 1-byte flags: (system flags - note that no matter what these are, the game always runs at 60 frames/sec) bit 0: if "1", movie is for the GBA system; if "0", it isn't. bit 1: if "1", movie is for the GBC system; if "0", it isn't. bit 2: if "1", movie is for the SGB system; if "0", it isn't. (If all 3 of these bits are "0", it's for regular GB.) (NOTE: The above 3 bits are mutually exclusive, although a given ROM can be playable on multiple systems.) other: reserved, set to 0
So if a value of 4 doesn't work, start a new movie with the appropriate setting and see what value is given to that offset, then edit your original movie to match that offset.

I hope everyone realizes that responding to his criticism with questioning only furthers the exposure of this repeated argument. Though in this instance, I do think it's strange that zipping through walls as Knuckles is a lot more entertaining than as Mega Man to NecroVMX. Such inconsistencies such as this might lead people to think he has a vendetta against the Mega Man series, and take his votes less seriously overall. Perhaps this isn't a concern to him. xebra: After looking up a couple words in your sentence, and asking you to explain the McCarthy reference to me, I've concluded that you've been given false information. Bag: what's this "Invalid Session" spam doing in your normal spam?
