If I remember correctly, both NES Metal Gear games are quite long but still watchable in one sitting for a timeattack. I personally think both would be pretty cool... -Josh

Chiller was quite a cool little game for its time... I've heard about the NES port but never played it. In the arcade version, you had to shoot a certain number of ghouls/people within a time limit to beat each level. There was indeed a lot of gore and torture involved...in one level, for instance, you can keep shooting a wheel to make a machine pull a person's limbs off (I think...going by memory here). It also had a LOT of secrets, uncovered by shooting certain objects; the game actually showed you pictures hinting at the location of these secrets, before the start of the level. I know the arcade version was distributed by Exidy Games, did this man work there at the time? -Josh

This was supposed to be a reply to Michael Fried's suggestion of doing a fighter...hit the new thread button by mistake. =/ Truncated: Ah yes, I remember you, that name sounded familiar. =) OK, seems like I'm using different terminology from some of you. I always thought that "fighting" referred solely to one-on-one games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, and so on, and that "beat-em-ups" was the phrase used to describe Streets of Rage, Final Fight, River City Ransom, etc. Beat-em-ups can be quite fun and interesting in single-player, I definitely agree. For one-on-one fighters, though, I really don't think so unless you've got a whole bunch of different combos and/or glitches that you can show off in one sitting. Fighters were a genre meant first and foremost for vs. play... -Josh

As for fighting games, nah. Besides the commonly-held opinion that this is THE worst genre for single-player, no NES fighting games that I know of have any impressive combos/glitches to show off. -Josh

Nope, we are not talking about Fester's Quest...though that is a pretty good game and IMO a great speedrun candidate. They're talking about the Addams Family game for NES, which is kind of a Mario type platformer where you play as Gomez. In the SNES version I remember that you had to explore the house and save all the other family members, don't remember if that's how it was in this version as well. *shrug* -Josh
