What you completely fail to take into the account is that the show was made as something that kids could watch and enjoy, and the parents of said kids could watch and enjoy with them. This created something good enough for even those without the excuse of watching it with their kids to like it.

The pilot is a decent introduction to the characters and the world, but I don't really think it represents the tone of the series overall.
Oh, 100% agree with this. I do believe you miss out on some important characterization if you don't start from the beginning.

I've found out that I fucking adore 70's-80's cartoon animation style. I have high hopes for the G1 cartoon, if Rescue is good I totally intend to check out the movie, and at least the ten episode pilot of the cartoon proper.

Sounds to me you haven't fully accepted the inherent ridiculousness of actually watching My Little Pony yet (and then not caring because it's a great show).
That said, we're a bunch of people who are going to IRC group watch the very first animated MLP special from 1984, Rescue at Midnight Castle, this weekend. Poke me on IRC if you want to join. I'm sure some people are going to watch it with the expectation that it's crap, but I'm having an open mind. After all, that's what we G4 fans tell the non-fans to have when we want them to watch it, and I'm not going to be the hypocrite.

Warp: It doesn't just "look like" Flash animations, the entire cartoon's done in Flash.
Also, for those of you actually starting watching, don't listen to anybody who says to start anywhere that isn't the pilot, they're dumbs. Start with the pilot, watch in order, give it five episdoes before you pass your final verdict. If you don't like it at that point, you're probably never going to like it.
Make no mistake, the pilot is great. Probably one of the best episodes. However, it's not representative of the show as a whole. Some people say episode 3 isn't either, but I don't know how much I agree with that. It definitely has most of the elements.
But yeah, if you're not hooked after Griffon the Brush-Off (ep 5), there's little to nothing left in the rest of the season that would hook you. Maybe Party of One, but that's the second to last episode of the season, so...

Gotta have to agree with that this just looks like a fast-forwarded version of the previous one. Harder to pick up on what's actually going on, and thus less entertaining. Getting 100% in X5 and X6 is an ass and a half. And X5 has Alia stopping you all the time. And in X6 there's the whole thing with unlocking Zero.
Maybe a pure speed multigame run there, but X5 is still a butt. If it weren't for Alia in X5 and having to unlock Zero in X6, a Zero-only pure speed X4-X5-X6 run would be pretty awesome.
What I'm trying to say here is that X5 and X6 are not good games.

Started out fairly boring with the Pichu and Ness fights, picked up with the Samus battle, dipped slightly at DK/Yoshi, the Marth/Bowser fight had a kinda boring finish, didn't think much of the Kirby/Ice Climbers/Young Link battle and the Game & Watch fight was just incredibly boring.
And not getting a 100% hits on the credits is just bad form.

At least it's not as bad as Mega Man Collection for GC where the jump and shoot buttons were backwards. Ouch.
See, I could never figure out why people took issue with this, since with the way the GC buttons are laid out, jumping on B and shooting on A is preferable. On Mega Man X Collection, I always set the bottons like that.

So, two notes about Gray Zone: Turns out Flash Man actually takes more damage from Metal Man's weapon, and Crash Man's pattern is far easier than I first figured, so he'd probably work well as a first boss too. But since you get Item-1 from Quick Man, it might be a better idea.

The damage amplifier, some teleport rooms (if those even count) and the infinite oxygen the second time around.
Key 4 isn't necessary to beat the game, but required for the good ending.

Also I didn't really know what to fill in regarding the game version so I just guessed it's USA v1.1 since the creator of the game lives in USA and it says version 1.1 on the title screen. If anyone have a better suggestion, let me know.
The actual cartridge is playable on both PAL and NTSC machines, so I'd probably go with "World".
Pretty great run, boss fights were hilarious. And the trek for the infinite oxygen supply the second time around was awesome.

I already told you, Mushroom Kingdom has the same weaknesses as the original game - however, Cut Man's room has no blocks to pick up with the Super Arm, so you can't use that there. The magnet beam is lying out in the open in Elec Man's stage, no blocks in the way. You don't actually need it to beat the game, though.
