Doesn't this refer to the previous run? There is still a TODO at the MMX movie page and a while ago I think it said "old text" before the description.

I'm sure that the editors have better things to do with their time than just reject movies.
Actually, only judges can reject or accept movies, which means that there are only four people doing it (Bisqwit, Phil, DeHackEd and BoltR).

I agree with the others, nice work! Can't wait to see the other stages.

I wrote 3 this morning, but that still doesn't solve the initial problem, which is that as the site keeps growing faster and faster, the workload is getting bigger and bigger. Either we need more (active) editors, or we need to have a suggestion box where everyone can suggest a description. This could also work for other TODO stuff. That way editors could just check that the information is correct and copy & paste.

I just noticed this was played on normal difficulty. Does anyone know what's different in hard mode? What I'm getting at is that would a hard mode run overwrite the current one even if it were a little slower?

What planes are you going to use? When I played this back in the day I always saved my money for the best plane, but you could only get it for the last 3 stages or so if you didn't fight those trucks, so I guess doing almost all the stages with the first plane would be pretty boring. Have you thought about this? How about efficiency? Do you think it would simply be faster to get the best plane so you could use all the special weapons for the last bosses? I'm really looking forward to this and I hope you have the patience to finish the run.

The door to the third wizard trial has a lock on it. It mus first be opened with the skeleton key. After it's opened it remains open so that you can enter with the wizard. About the run: amazing job! It's awesome how you skip wizard 2 and knight 3 and how you get thief 3 early on. I also loved how you got the crown jewel that was up in the tower. This is an easy yes vote from me, and goes right up to being one of my favorite timeattacks of all time!

I had hoped starting this thread would create some discussion and more importantly a solution, but I guess there is not that much interest in this matter. I would still like to see something done about it though, so how about some suggestions? Should we add a note to the submission form saying that the submitter should suggest a movie description? Then perhaps people could evaluate the movie description as well as the movie. How about existing movies? I don't think there would be very much interest in reviving old submission threads just to discuss movie descriptions. Am I the only one who cares about this issue at all? If that's the case, then I guess there's no helping it.

I was browsing the movies a while ago and I noticed that many movies have no description whatsoever. All it says is that it's yet TODO. I understand that the publishers don't always have time to write the descriptions immediately, but some movie descriptions are long overdue (Wild Guns, anyone?). I also understand that it's difficult to write a description if one is not familiar with the game. But the fact remains that an increasing number of movies have lacking descriptions because the site has grown at an incredible speed. The workload is just too much for a few people to handle. It's easier for them to just say "read the authors comments", but I think every movie should still have SOME kind of description. And I don't just mean "Version 5 of game x in 5:34". This is why I think the workload should be shared a bit more than it is now. I realize that this is why Editors exist. I myself am one and I have to admit that the only movie description I have written is the one for my own movie. I know how hard it is to come up with something actually relevant and yet short. How should the issue be dealt with then? Obviously letting everyone edit the movie descriptions is not a good idea. But how about a suggestion thread? A stickied thread where everyone could throw their suggestions at editors, who could then do as they see fit. It would ease the workload a lot if everyone could be a part of the process. In addition, it would let the authors themselves have a say in how their movie is described (perhaps this could also be integrated to the submission?). This would only be the basic idea, I haven't thought about it further as I'm extremely tired. Please tell me why you would see this as a good idea or why you think it might lead to total chaos.

I don't know how to start my post so I'll simply list the things that are, in my opinion, wrong with this movie: 1) You did not play at the hardest difficulty setting 2) We have a faster run published already, which is played on hard 3) You were sloppy: it is very clear that there are a lot of delays that you did not bother fixing. Use more rerecords to correct your mistakes and use slow motion for accuracy. If there is a shadow of a doubt in your mind that something can be done faster, test it. 4) There are a lot of missed shots 5) I don't think sacrificing time just because you want to collect bombs for fun is a good idea I have nothing against no-kill runs but this just isn't a very good one, sorry.

Here's something else I was wondering: at Lab 16 (the first lab) in the first screen with the ghost enemies (the ones that can't be hurt by physical attacks) you decide to take the lower route which means killing two sets of ghosts. Did you know that you can go around these ghosts? You don't have to fight the mutant in the middle or the two sets of ghosts at the bottom of the screen, you can just walk past the mutant with the correct route. It might of course just be that you need the exp but I was just wondering...

I think it's safe to say that this should be rejected. Unless there are objections?

Ahh the long awaited Magical Quest run. It sure looks great, much better (obviously) than the previous version. I can now see that the strategy I suggested for 6-3 (using one of the cannonballs to boost you to the upper ledge so you wouldn't need to squirt the grey block forwards) would have been a lot slower than the way you handled things. I've really got no complaints, awesome job! PS. Your submission text says you take a hit in 5-2 as you obviously mean 6-2. Just clearing that up.

What do you mean by a "gamer" type run? I'm not completely sure if this can be made interesting to the general public even with the hardest difficulty setting and creative use of the special weapons. Having played this one a helluva lot back in the day, I'd die to see a good run of this.

I haven't really been following this thread so I don't know if this has been discussed, but why do you go through the entire factory when you are in 2300 AD the first time? I remember you saying that the machine won't allow you to insert any password before you have gotten it, but this isn't true at least for the version I have. Is it different for the japanese version?

Absolutely amazing! As much as I loved the previous run, this looks much better. I just loved all the egg tricks and going over the screen in 1-4. I hope you have the energy to complete this one, because if the quality doesn't decrese during the run, this is well worth submitting.

I don't know though if it's possible to kill them without the ice beam.
It's possible to not get the Ice Beam, but I think you then have to get the speed booster. Metroids can be killed by Power bombs, but it's very slow and one would have to go back to restock them at every turn. A lot of this has been discussed in the Super Metroid topic.

But why take the risk when we have a fully working system right now? I think this is the absolute best solution: the people who want to watch avis have that choice. The people who don't want to download the big avi files can just get the small file. With quite minimal effort I might add. Getting the required files isn't really that big a deal.

For me, it's all about aesthetics. If taking damage looks bad, it shouldn't be used. For example: in Mega Man games, when Mega Man hits enemies, he falls backwards and gets stunned and a damage-animation can be seen. I would not like to see this in a run. However, in Bisqwit's Rockman video, he avoids the animation with a pause trick, making it look smooth. Even if there isn't an awesome glitch involved, I sometimes find taking damage acceptable: Many games allow the player simply to walk through enemies with no other effect than losing health and perhaps making the character blink. Just judge for yourself.

The Advantage is my favorite. They have released an actual album that isn't free (unless you break the law), but it's well worth the money. They play with real instruments and it's really a great combination of blues, rock and jazz. The NESkimos are great, too. Their music is a bit heavier and nowhere near as good for example The Advantage's, but it's worth checking out.

The strategies and how the game was beaten so quickly is what matters to me. I don't need to hear Marle tell Crono to help her find the pendant, I'll see him look for it anyway.
I agree with this one. But for example in FF5, I have no clue as to what strategies are being used because I can't understand the commands used in the battles. I can't always remember it just by looking at the animation, either. Therefore I would say YES to fan translations.

Your movie looks extremely cool, some levels were full of stuff I didn't expect. There really isn't much to say since you've done it all so well, just keep 'em coming.

Wasn't there a glitch of some sort that allowed you to go through the first stairs in the Ghost House? Can anyone confirm or am I just talking out of my rear end?
