Hi Lars. Another question: in the ending it seems you press buttons to skip the end cutscenes. Is this really necessary? In Tasvideos.org, we take the last input as movie end so if you could just let them play you could be saving a bunch of frames.
https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638500159828986137 I took some time yesterday to try and shave off a few ending seconds but really it only saved a second~ over the previous time; it just doesn't feel as entertaining as an end movie (no beating up past Cortez, action just a bit less on beat). Not really worth it imo for such a small time improvement. With Lapogne's highly detailed notelist (and that newly discovered skip), this movie is open for improvement for someone who wishes to undertake the challenge. Thank you for picking up the judge spot, hope you enjoy the movie.

Any news?
My apologies for the delay, I had a convention, debilitating sinus infection/weeklong flu, work stuff and other things going on and it just totally slipped my mind until I hopped back on my laptop. I will get everything updated this evening/tomorrow.

Could any of those possible improvements lapogne mentioned be implemented without redoing massive sections of the tas?
I'm willing to take a day to go back on the final level at the request of the judge and see if I can't scrape a few seconds off with the reload/grenade hotswap but aside from that it's basically throwing away whatever work has been done after said trick is recorded.
Use this clear as a reference for the boss battle https://youtu.be/1yi267UzRMg?si=94uuSc34PDswiwg1 You may also consider redoing the end of The Hooded Man, but yeah anything more would not be realistic as a "small" update
I will take some time Friday and see if I can't shave off a few seconds then resubmit a new movie file for whoever decides to claim for judging. Just curious, do you have a playlist or any resources for actually finding the WR times easily? I could never find the video you linked until you posted it here.

Don't worry I read the messages on the TS Discord, I just don't post much on it. I have no complaint about the entertainment, but I find the technical aspect to be borderline, hence why I made my post.
All good, I understand where you're coming from as the current WR holder.

I'm sorry the TAS was a disappointment to you Lapogne. Yes, it's true, I am not an RTA runner of this game nor am I the most knowledgeable of tricks, just a fan of the game and studio, but in my defense the game's tricks are hardly documented outside a single YT video, various VODs of different runs and years of text messages to comb through in the TS Discord. Some of the tricks you mentioned I've never even heard of nor can find documentation for. The other runners in the Timesplitters Discord who have watched it all really enjoy it though. I aimed for viewer entertainment above all else with some time loss as a given, but obviously with some of the bits you mentioned, this can be improved upon by someone willing to take the task. I appreciate your detailed feedback, and no, it's not to harsh. I do hope your comments don't predispose the judge for this movie to give it an X out of hand though, there's a lot of entertainment to be had and still keeps up an intense pace beyond that of complete RTA runs. Thank you for taking the time to watch it and write out where there's possible improvements to be had.

Absolutely incredible. Quite possibly one of the greatest technical achievements I've held the pleasure to behold in the TAS scene. Everything from start to finish is the peak of entertainment. There's too much to comment on individually, but my favorite parts are probably RAID SHADOW LEGENDS, RAID SHADOW LEGENDS and of course who can forget RAID SHADOW LEGENDS. This one imo is a serious contender for TAS of the Year overall and maybe even in TAS of the Decade. 10 stars.

I was surprised that I couldn't find a human playing this game. I figured it was more popular for someone to post a video.
I think in this case it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume one of a number of companies with rights to the Star Trek franchise hit any videos that were uploaded with copyright strikes because of the obvious rip-off nature of the game. Also, the ship name of Pegasus (as seen on the victory screen) was eventually used for a fairly important ship seen in Next Generation, which would add to the legal problems any uploads of the game may face.
Would Paramount really go through the trouble to manually strike down videos of a 40 year old C64 game of this nature? There's dozens of games like this from this era of computing (including other Star Trek knockoffs/fan games) that have footage available on YT. This game could just be SO old and obscure this TAS is some of the only footage that can be found of it.

Great little movie! Fun challenge to impose on yourself in such a unique platformer. Poor Ristar must have a killer headache from scaling those walls.

Hi Lars_Hendrick, seems you uploaded the exact same file as the movie submission. Can you please upload the correct file for the trimmed movie? Thanks
My bad, here it is. Size is 2170kb vs originals 2224kb. https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638447516503674955

Thanks for your answers. I was able to sync the movie but I have a question regarding the movie end. It seems you included some menuing after the credits scene (actual game end). However, in TASVideos we consider the movie length to be the frame where you make the very last input, so all this after menuing increases the movie length unnecessarily. Can you please provide a new version of your movie where you make the last input as SOON as possible to just enough to trigger the credits? This is not as simple as it may seem. For inspiration, take a look at the following movies which take amazing measures to avoid making any inputs at the end: [4344] NES River City Ransom "1 player" by willbobsled in 05:14.45 [1116] SNES Gradius III by Cpadolf in 25:31.40 [3881] PSX Tobal 2 by pirohiko in 02:48.77 [5294] NES Ivan "Ironman" Stewart's Super Off Road by eien86 in 50:31.34

Yeah no problem I'll do it here in a couple hours and post it up on the site. As mentioned in the post I went to stats screen because it has a unqiue feature showing every bullet that hit on the paper doll, mostly for my personal channel.
