I actually knew there was no need to do a spin jump. I think it helps to clip up, but it's not necessary, so that's why most people do it. Thank you though :P

Link to video This is what happens when you enter a pipe on the same frame that Koops hits a blue block. Bad things... I thought this would be a timesaver if we came up to the top of the pipe on time lol.

I have no idea really. It seems like a 9 jump cap is really common more than any other. Anyway... Link to video

Just a bit of a progress update: I'm completely done with Chapter 1 and the intermission and I'm working on Chapter 2 now! It may seem crazy to have progressed that much in such little time but: 1) I encoded my prologue when I was already halfway done Chapter 1, 8 days ago. 2) Since I have already TASed through the game, I know what to expect and how to optimize things better. 3) I have an Excel comparison spreadsheet to make sure I don't lose time so I can progress faster. I'll have the encode by Tuesday/Wednesday most likely. Wait until you see what crazy stuff happens!

Thanks NamiNami! I appreciate it! Unreal, I am not sure about that strategy... I can't think well enough to determine if it's faster. I'll talk to Almo about it. And thank you very much for a video of that! I definitely missed that then and I'll use that. That will save a lot of time ;)

Good questions actually. 1. If I recall correctly, you can't make it from that distance. I will keep that in mind once again when I get there. 2. I have no clue and haven't though about that. The first problem is that when you first enter a room, your speed drops significantly when you're rolled up. Next, you have to turn to make it onto the barrels. I'll play around with it. Thank you for your ideas :P

I've already said that was an improvement in my submission. I've included it in the new Prologue that I made. There's an extra invisible wall before the Goomba Trio battle, so I can't skip it.

I'm confused as to what you mean. Why yes it's a triple tick. If you're talking about it being in my TAS run, no it won't because I triggered a cutscene that was meant to be triggered later. Jlun it will give you a game over. If you do it one frame before it will reset the clock.

I'll get working on a Prologue encode actually. Also, I have a surprise video that I'll be uploading shortly. EDIT: Here it is! Link to video

I'm not sure if you're familiar with this, but there's a chapter 2/3 sequence break glitch that Almo uses in his current WR.

Not quite half an hour. I'm estimating 15-20 minutes. And in fact I'm working on this run by myself with help from CoolKirby for the plane panels. My goal is to sub 1 million frames which would only require 15 minutes of time savers.

Basically, the ground pound makes it easier to clip up to the platform. Also, thank you very much to the publisher for getting our run done! But a re-do is definitely required, which is why I already started one. I completed the Prologue 520 frames faster (-8.67 seconds). I've currently gotten up to Hooktail's Castle where I am approximately 6000 frames faster (No, that is not a typo). This is because of the Shwonk Fortress skips. Much more progress will be made in the many months to come!

This way we don't actually need to battle our way to the top. We get to rank 8 to get Super Hammer and then retrigger the chapter and go straight to the boss. It saves... 10 minutes iirc. It might save more in a TAS though.

When someone gets a chance, could I please have an A/V sync version of Dolphin 4.0-926? Thank you very much

0_o How did you get yoshi before hand anyways? Goombella buffer?
Sorry I took so long to reply. By using a glitch in Chapter 2, we skip a sequence cutscene. We complete most of Chapter 3 (this is when we get Yoshi) and then go back to Chapter 2. We trigger Chapter 2 and then re-enter Chapter 3. There's no goombella buffer lol...

Link to video This cool little trick saves 5 minutes because Mario only has to go down to Rank 11 to retrigger the chapter successfully.

There's still an issue with the flickering in Paper Mario. It does not flicker when using the Glide64 'Final' plugin in Mupen.

Uh oh... I found a way to clip through blocks... I'll start off by saying I haven't tested this much, but so far I am able to clip through brick blocks and '?' blocks. I cannot clip through pipes. The way you have to get it is very strange though. You have to be jumping straight up and not at an angle; the brick ladder in the 2nd room of 1-2 is a very great example. Stand on the block, and take your Y-position and divide it by about 1.056. That is the max height that you must jump to (your height still increases for a bit after you let go of '2'). The 1-2 ladder brick is at a height of 100, so divide that and you get about 94.7 and that will set you up for the clip. (Alternatively, you can just press '2' 1 frame longer each time until you can clip up to the top of the block. That then will be the correct height). You have to duck jump up to the top corner of the block. As you begin your descent, you have to hold '2' again... Why? I have no clue, but it works. (Make sure you aren't jumping higher when pressing '2' again, otherwise delay from pressing it for 1 more frame. Continue holding in the direction of the corner of the block and you will clip through it. The only notable idea of this would be to clip through the barrier guarding the door in 1-1, but the angle must be straight up at the corner when I can only do it from the block farther to the left, so it does not work.

The only main points that I need to worry about are 20k points by O'Chuncks (Check!) and then I need to have 60k points by Brobot L in 4-4 (more damage = shorter boss battle). I worked on 1-1 and grinded up to 26,200 points. There's almost enough points to get to 60k without a problem, but it might come close. Anyway, I finished 1-1 and shortly I'll record and upload the improved Prologue and 1-1.

It has not desynced once for me. I'm using Dolphin 4.0.1 and it seems very accurate. And yes, it's very easy to optimize (I just have to watch for silly mistakes that I might make).
