The door opens on its own after a certain number of frames (only way to open the door). For 1 frame after the door opens the exclamation mark is still there, therefore you can still press A while at the door. By doing so Peach says this like she would while the door was closed.

And we're finally finished with Chapter 2. Currently we're investigating badge manipulation because we need Power Rush to be on sale and mega rush from Charlieton. After that the rest of the intermission is easy, so it won't be long before we get to Chapter 3!

Haven't discussed where we are in the run for a while. We were able to Punie glitch and get across the bubble room without having to blow them across. We got an amazing 10 Jabbi fight and 100 Jabbi fight. We're currently stuck on blowing the Punies down the hole in the cage in 1 try, so we'll hopefully make progress on that within the next few days.

Hopefully someone can help me, but does anyone know why the movie playback stops when I load a state sometimes? The state was saved during the playback of the run, so it wouldn't desync it at all I wouldn't think...

jlun2, RNG can be manipulated by the height at which we jump and also wasting frames (both of which we had to do at some points in time). The first castle key is mandatory because it unlocks the room before Ms. Mowz. There's no way around it. SoulCal, each character will say the same general thing, maybe slightly changed to match the personality of the character, but each partner's dialogue is the same number of text boxes for the most part. In order to switch to Goombella for shorter text boxes (if any), that would waste quite a bit of time just to save a couple of frames (therefore wasting time in total). Andypanther, it actually took quite a bit of manipulation to make the blocks drop the items in the direction we were going lol. Thanks!

I thought I'd address this here. During a certain cutscene in Paper Mario, you're required to hold down the R button, past where it clicks, for a certain amount of time. Using TAS Input with a full R input, nothing happened, meaning that the game didn't recognize it as a full input. I then went to the GCPad settings instead of TAS Input and configured a button to act as the R button. After doing so, I went into the game, pressed my key and it worked. "Show Input Display" showed both times that the input was "R" even though it worked one time and not the other time.

You misunderstood. No matter what you will twirl to the left like how I did, but doing this triggers the battle earlier so you don't need to hammer the dry bones to start the battle.

Just a bit of an update: We've reached Hooktail's Castle. After experimenting with the staircase flip skip and key skip that Cronikeys posted earlier, I can officially say Goombella buffering in the star piece room to skip the key is about 1 second faster than the staircase flip skip, which is about 10 seconds faster than just flipping the staircase. It can only be done with a minimum of 5 buffers which does cost some time, but is still faster.

I'm certain you can get more than 1 item from a specific battle...which would make it harder to get HP Drain.

Just thought I'd mention a couple things. Dolphin's loading speed is faster than console because in a comparison I did between the WR and the TAS, we actually are only 44 seconds ahead as opposed to 56 seconds. Also because school started we will be less active with this, but we'll still continue to make progress. Currently, we're trying to get HP Drain (item, not the badge) from the Blooper battle which can cut about 10 seconds from the Gold Fuzzy battle by Shwonk Fortress. Masterjun's also working on RNG further.

Knew we would get asked that question. Normally if you hit the block from that side, the fire flower would shoot out to the right side. By jumping, it seems to tell the game that Mario's position moved to the left of the box and that the fire flower should go to the left side.

I think Masterjun had some error finding the RNG, but he's probably trying to work around it now. Those graphical glitches didn't occur before I don't think. They can be fixed somehow.

YES YES YES! Thanks to masterjun helping optimize the beginning down to the bone, we're able to get onto the moving platform before the pipe in the sewers and make it across WITHOUT WAITING. This will save several seconds from Kirby's WIP.
