I'm going to say... no, since Masterjun loses 2 more frames than before after dying in yi1, though he gains both back during the yi4 fadeout, heh. i just know that over my last run i: - gained 3 frames in YI3 (1 in the fly to the sky level, and 2 for exiting it) - lost 2 frames at start of YI1 (1 because of lag, and 1 because i had to start the level 1 frame later because of frame rules) - gained 38 frames because of the new strategy in YI1 - gained 2 frames after YI4 because of lag - gained 1 frame at start of DP1 because of lag

that wont work, because you have to get the coin while its on yoshis tongue, and if you dismount in mid air, you wont get the coin, because you jump too high

No, because you have to go to YI2 to get Yoshi then go to YI1 to swap the Charlie. It doesn't sound like it'd take a lot of time, but it does.
In my better run of world 1, using this glitch i lose theoretically 12 frames... (maybe 5-10 frames more because of the lag and/or because we have to redo that yoshicoin glitch, because of the flower) here is the smv file of my better run (only YI2 and YI1)

If you want a run of Luigi, it will be slower, because Luigi can't sprint as fast as Mario. Here is the speed in average of the two:
Mario:

Walking:   (20 + 19 + 20 + 19 + 21)/5 = 19,8
Running:   (36 + 35 + 36 + 35 + 37)/5 = 35,8
Sprinting: (48 + 47 + 48 + 47 + 49)/5 = 47,8
Flying:    (50 + 49 + 48 + 47 + 51)/5 = 49


Luigi:

Walking:   (20 + 20 + 19 + 21 + 20 + 19 + 21)/7 = 20
Running:   (36 + 36 + 35 + 37 + 36 + 35 + 37)/7 = 36
Sprinting: (40 + 40 + 39 + 40 + 40 + 39 + 41)/7 = 39.86
Flying:    (51 + 50 + 49 + 49 + 48 + 48 + 47 + 51 + 50 + 50 + 49 + 49 + 48 + 47 + 51 + 51 + 50 + 50 + 49 + 48 + 48 + 47 + 51 + 51 + 50 + 50 + 49 + 48 + 48 + 47 + 51)/31 = 49,19
Since you mostly have to sprint in the run, it will be slower. With hopping glitch with luigi, he will lose 2 pixel per 4 frames...

oh i see, but i wont redo/finish the TAS because everytime the game crash (like after every 5-10 rerecords) you have to delete the "Saves" folder and then fast forward through the whole tas, and that is very annoying after a time...
