I think he added it a few days ago. I'm not sure what exactly he means by it. If something is perfect then it's unbeatable, and if it ever is beaten then it was never really perfect. I think it would be better if it said "Where unbeatable does not mean perfect".

Why do I keep seeing this message so often: "ZSNESW.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Is it just me, or does this also happen often to other people using ZSNES?

Yeah, I think that's the best (and only) route. I just improved my 1-2 time to 1:00.

I just did 1-1 again and got 31. 30 is probably possible, but the run would have to be just about perfect. Did you make any mistakes in 1-1? Edit: I just did 1-1 again, and this time the zmv suddenly decided to stop about 1 second before I stopped recording. *shoots yoshi egg at whoever was responsible for ZSNES's terrible recording* Edit 2: I tried some more and got 30 in 1-1, so I guess there wasn't a problem with ZSNES's speed anyway. Maybe I just wasn't motivated enough before because there was no competition, but now that other people are posting times I try harder.

I'm using 1.36 also. I'm pretty sure I didn't lose two seconds on level 1, so one of our emulators must be running at the wrong speed. I'll watch my 1-1 zmv again to make sure I didn't just time it incorrectly. I just played the zmv and somehow it got broken, so I guess I'll have to do 1-1 over. Edit: My 1-2 and 1-4 zmvs are also broken now, but they weren't when I first watched them, I wonder how that happened. *throws something at whoever programmed ZSNES*

I don't think so, but if you find any feel free to let me know about them.

it seems like the time differs only 8 frames from Michael Fried's run of 1-1 in his version2 run Is it 8 frames slower or faster?

I just did a very fast 1-4 run, but the zmv was broken so I couldn't time it, but it was probably faster than 1:52. Edit: I just did another run, so now the time you have to beat is 1:50. It was just about perfect so I don't think I can improve it anymore.

I practiced 1-4 some more and managed to tie your time. It's pretty good, but I think I can shave off another second or two if I time the shots at the boss a little better.

That's because I keep beating my times so I have to change them. By the way, how do you tell how many times I edit my posts? Please respond by editting your post to reduce the number of off topic posts since this is supposed to be about the Yoshi's Island speed competition.

This topic will be just like the SMB3 speed competition, but SMB3 was getting kind of boring since there wasn't enough competition, and since there's a Yoshi's Island speed run on SDA now, at least I'll have something to try to beat. Here are the rules for this speed competition: 1. In this topic, we will compete to see who can complete each level in the fastest time. 2. We will keep track of both fastest times and fastest 100% times (getting the maximum number of points). 3. You may use a real SNES, or you may use an emulator as long as you do not use save states or slow motion during the level. However, you may save before you start the level and load when you mess up to start the entire level over again. 4. Time the level from when you get control to when you lose control. 5. Start with 0 eggs and do not use items. 6. Times for autoscrolling levels will not be kept track of (you can post times for these levels if you want to, but I don't see any point). 7. Hurry up and beat the times in those videos at SDA to show who really has the skill. Edit: I just remembered that the videos at SDA are 100% runs, so we'll have to have two categories for competition, fastest time and fastest 100% time. I made the appropriate changes to the rules. Here are my best times so far: Fastest level times: 1-1: 0:29 1-2: 1:00 1-3: 0:43 1-4: 1:50 1-6: 0:59 1-7: 0:34 Fastest 100% completion level times: No times yet.

14.Super Mario Bros 3 - Running through castle Which part of the castle? I think the best scene from the castle would be climbing up the stairs before the shortcut. Actually if you choose that scene you should take it from my video because in my video Mario keeps facing left as he goes up the stairs and I think that looks cool.

How exactly does he slide backwards up stairs? I have no idea. Does Wonn have that glitch on his page? I'll go check. Edit: I couldn't find it.

i must of dled a bad copy =/ hope some1 will know what to do :( I can't give you links to any roms, but there's nothing in the rules against giving you the names of roms so you can look for them on your own. For the AoL video, look for Legend of Zelda 2 - Link no Bouken, The.fds, and for my Lost Levels video, look for Super Mario Bros. 2.fds. Of course you'll also need the bios file so you can load fds games, so look for disksys.rom.

It's actually possible to finish Super Mario 64 with only 16 stars. Hold on while I look for the link to the video that shows how it's done. Edit: Ok, here's the link: http://www.otaku-universe.com/~domdunc/16stars.wmv

I'm starting to think it may have been a Game Genie code because I can't seem to find it anywhere. I guess you won't be playing the secret levels afterall.

Sorry, I don't remember what the code is, I'll see if I can find it. I thought the XXYBA code unlocked the secret levels, but it must be something else. I remember doing the code a long time ago. It may have been a Game Genie code, but I think it was a controller code.

Yoshi's Island would make an entertaining speed run because it's popular, and more importantly it's a mario game, which everyone seems to like watching speed runs for. The code should be allowed because I think it's mentioned somewhere in the game, but even if it's not, what's the point in not allowing it? It doesn't make the game easier, it would just let the people watching the speed run see the secret levels being played.

I think you should beat all the levels as fast as possible. If I remember correctly there was a code that unlocks the secret levels, so use the code to unlock them and forget about the points.

So do you want to sign up for a free website with free.fr? I've heard it's pretty good. There's a free.fr site that hosts a lot of Mario Kart 64 videos (mariokart64.free.fr) and there are also some people who put their Mario Kart Double Dash videos on free.fr sites. If you can figure out how to sign up, then can you also get a free site for me? I wouldn't mind having 100 MB of space and unlimited bandwidth. It definitely beats what geocities gives. Edit: Even if Bisqwit does decide to get a free.fr site to solve the bandwidth problem, keeping all the pictures on the page would still make it take a long time to load for the 56k-ers, so the pictures need to go.

Bisqwit, do you know when you're going to start reforming the site? You definitely need to do something about the main page because I don't think 56k people want to have to wait for *insert number that I don't know how to count to* pictures to load. Maybe what you could do is have no pictures on the main page and just have a list of all the games, the video length, the player, and the genre of the game, and maybe also a short description of the game. Then each game would link to another page with the picture of the game and a description of the speed run. Edit: By the way, I think there's a way you could solve the bandwidth problem. There's a site called free.fr that offers free webhosting, 100 MB of space, and unlimited bandwidth. The only problem is that the site is French so if you're like me who doesn't know French then you might have trouble figuring out how to sign up.

You can probably do it with anything under 11:30. Actually no one submitted any times to TG yet for SMB3 so I could get a time of 5 hours and still get the record :) However, the fastest time anyone at the TG forums claimed so far is 12:32. Btw, what's the status of the wall glitch dilemma? TG banned the shortcut in bowser's castle that involves going through a wall, and I did use the shortcut, but even if I didn't it would still probably be under 11:40 since the shortcut doesn't save that much time.

Here is an interesting site.....*cough*fds*cough* And here is an interesting rule Posts that contain pointers to law-breaking sites (porn, warez, roms, etc) are not allowed. Edit: Lol, now Bisqwit made it look like I think his list of rules is law-breaking.
