Maybe you should mention something about competition encouraging people to make better videos.

You guys are amazing. :)
Maybe you should remove this quote from your site: "It's a competition between who makes the fastest video." I think competition is good. Competition encourages people to try harder and make better videos. If it wasn't for Deviance, me, and Arc, then Lezard might not have made such an awesome Kung Fu video. Edit: Oops, I just noticed it was Deviance and not Lezard who made the latest (and fastest) Kung Fu video, so I should have said this: If it wasn't for Lezard, me, and Arc, then Deviance might not have made such an awesome Kung Fu video.

Considerable - I'll think of the technical details of that.
Why would there be any technical details? It doesn't need to be fancy, it would just be the simplest page ever. If you want to make it even easier, you don't even need a page for it, just upload all the fmvs and have an index that shows all the files in the fmv subdirectory.

I could have sworn I justed posted in this topic about 20 minutes ago, but now I don't see my post. I don't think it would have gotten removed so I guess it never got posted for some reason, so I'll post it again and do my best to remember exactly what I said. How about this idea. Make a new page on the nes videos site and call it something like fmv archive. Put in it all the fmvs you ever got from anyone, and fmvs are small, so it wouldn't take too much space. That way everyone could see the movies they want, even if the movie would bore most people. You also wouldn't have to spend time encoding anything. It would also be very fast and easy to update the page because it would just be a very simple page with a list of all the fmvs (no need for pictures or explanations) and maybe also a title for the page.

Heh, been following this site with interest for the past couple months, and have even learned of some great games I missed during my original NES playing career. Ufouria would have to be the more fun games I missed first time around (I live in the US, so I never even heard of it). If no one else is trying a time attack on this game, I may just give it a go. I've already started planning of the run, but don't let that stop you if you're already considering doing this one. Here's some other suggestions I haven't seen yet: Snake Rattle n Roll - great game, esp 2player would be fun to watch Mighty Bomb Jack - 'nother Tecmo classic 8 Eyes - think someone already mentioned this one Clash at Demonhead - i think this one can be done quickly Guardian Legend (too long?) Cybernoid Dr Chaos Ninja Gaiden(s) Spelunker TMNT 1 (too long?) Zanac - one of the most underrated space shooters, lotsa secret warps etc
There's a 49:57 Zanac video by Yy, but it's not on Bisqwit's site, and it probably never will be because I don't think anyone could stand watching this game for that long.

What is clumsy about ZSNES movie support?
Irrelevant if it doesn't support rerecording anyway. I was thinking about hotkeys or some other mechanism that allows to use the stop/play/record/quicksave/quickload+rerecord keys *instantly* (from the game perspective), without having to go searching the menues while the game is running.
Zsnes does have shortcut keys. Just click on MISC and then GAME KEYS and you can see what they are and change them if you want.

I worked on my video a little today and the video length is up to 1:22 so far. I think it will be very entertaining because there are so many things to shoot on each screen so it'll be cool how I go through each screen at full speed jumping and shooting so accurately and shooting as many things as possible.

There's one glitch for this game at David Wonn's website, but since I know nothing about this game, I don't know if it would save any time.

For you there is. I see you only got 313 instead of 314 in 8-4.

I plan on doing a speed run for Mickey Mousecapade. I started today but the fmv got broken, so I'll have to start all over again, but luckily it was only a minute long so far so I didn't lose too much. In case anyone hasn't played this game, you play as Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and go through five levels shooting stars at enemies and fighting a boss at the end of each level. Unlike Super Mario Bros., the levels aren't so linear, and a few of the levels are mazes. This game is pretty fun so I think a speed run for it would be entertaining.

I think the FMV idea isn't bad, but instead of putting it on the page in FMV make a rejected movies thread, post them in there and let peoples responces decide what happens with the movies. If it sucks, people will more than happily let the person know. Along with the author could gather some extra feedback from other perspectives. I have to agree with you on the Morimoto ones. I'd rather see someone take extra time and do something amusing or just to be a smart ass compared to just running by as fast as computerly possible. Also, the River City Ransom one is also among my favorites now. Extremely pleasuring on the eyes :P I'd love to see more with more action, strange timing and things that shouldn't of happened or would never be expected instead of just blowing by and jumping over everything. This is just my opinion, I could be completely alone in feeling this way. -Me

I look forward to the blaster master one, the only quick nes game that comes to my mind without much thought is Strider. Shouldn't take too long to speed through it and it's not very hard either. Could at least be amusing to watch. Thats my 2 cents for now.

Start playing the fmv, and when you get to the point where you want to start re-recording, save the game and then load the game, and it will switch from playing the movie to recording.

All those hours of playing finally paid off, and now I'm the highest ranked Mario Kart: Double Dash!! player in the United States, and 10th in the world. However, the next best American is close behind at rank 12, so if I want to stay US champion I'll have to keep playing. By the way, if anyone is interested, here's the link to the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Players' Page: http://www.mariokart64.com/mkdd/

It really was a hard day, i believe, so many movies that we'll be downloading the whole week, congratulations.
Why would it take the whole week? I downloaded all of them in about a minute. Do you actually download the avi files? Edit: Or did you mean watching the movies the whole week?

I have another site suggestion. The speed runs should be in alphabetical order (by game title). There are so many speed runs now that sometimes it takes awhile to find a certain game.

I took a break from Mario Kart Double Dash today to finish up my Kung Fu video, which beats Deviance's second run by 3 seconds and 22 time units. The video length is 3:46. These are the completion times for each floor. Floor 1: 1544 Floor 2: 1540 Floor 3: 1543 Floor 4: 1542 Floor 5: 1542

That's strange, when I downloaded the videos the wait time was little, maybe only a minute for each one.

If all you care about is being interesting, then why don't you have the SMB tricks videos on your page? If you don't have them, I think I have them somewhere on my computer and I could send them to you. Anyway, I have four site suggestions. 1. There should be a link to the NES videos page on this forum. 2. It should say the name of the topic on the post reply screen. 3. On the NES videos page, you should say in parentheses next to the title of each game which version was used. 4. In the section with the small pictures that says what speed runs everyone made, you should have a link to smb3j under Michael F.

Ok, how about this idea. How about a picture of Link dashing forward holding his sword in front of him and enemies on all sides. Another possibility would be to go through my Zelda speed run and find a place where Link hits 4 darknuts at the same time. That would make a cool logo.

What does this mean? I think that means that he played the game again after beating it the first time. I haven't played this game recently, but if I remember correctly, by doing this, you start with everything at level 8, all the spells, and the upthrust and downthrust. Whenever Link tries to get on an elevator, famtasia pauses and a popup comes up saying "Unknown opcode FF at 06D6". That never happened to me, you must have a bad rom.

How about a picture of different NES characters either lining up getting ready to start a race, or already in the race. I think this would be an appropriate logo since most of the videos are speed runs.
