A Mario TAS with no savestates would probably be a little shorter than the unassisted records. Because tricks like going inside walls couldn't be done.
You can do the going through wall trick on a console, although it requires a mushroom. I'm actually pretty sure it possible to do as small mario except not during a speedrun. Then again I would be interested in seeing how well I can do a run with only frame advance/savestates.

Ending on the certificate is lame its really isn't worth playing that far in order to get it, I don't think you should get 151 Pokemon and say you've finished the game. What about the gyms plus you should really conquer the game by becoming pokemon league champion, as that gives your final stats and play time.

Hi Phil is that you. Just kidding, haven't watched it yet but I'm sure its very close to perfection. EDIT: I agree with Moozooh that the comment made at the end was entirely uncessary.

Even if it was possible the nature of the text cutscene would cause mario to stand on the ground, star appearing and star dance animations are completely different things in the game as well.

I don't get it, why not just do the beaver race, and it might be worth testing to see if the flying Zora can get you there.

JSmith, I don't think that's possible due to the fact that once you hit a jiggy your x and y velocity become zero, so I don't know how you could clip the pixel and then fall. a jiggy that is in the process of bouncing (let's call it moving) does not have this effect. so there are a few jiggies where this case may be of interest... But I did discover something interesting that was overlooked! If you fall into the water before doing a jiggy dance you are holding a jiggy. we thought that this was useless because it just meant once you reached land you would dance anyway. guess what. you can swim underwater like normal, and then one simple hop out of the water and back in (right away or whenever) collects the jiggy for real. Also the hop will have zero x and y velocity interestingly enough. In the video I made, I collected a jinjo jiggy so I had to wait for the jinjo to disappear before I would even be able to dance anyway, which makes me suspect that if a jiggy is close enought to a ledge, that you could hit it and fall into the water and it would be immediate collection. the reason I don't move in the water is because I can't: banjo is waiting for the jinjo to disappear so he can dance. http://tas.monotoli.org/mov/bk/demo/bk-jiggyantics.mkv
I actually mentioned that a view pages back but what I said was overlooked

Just finished watching it, it seemed pretty optimized for a test run, but one general note, maybe you could collect the jiggy and jump into the water when you collect the last jingo. What is the WR for TTC anyway?

So with all the new improvements found since FODA's movie got published, what's a realistic estimate for an end time? 1:35? Is 1:30 even worth dreaming about??
I wouldn't be too surprised if 1:35 or lower is achieved, but to put it quite simply the current one can be improved by a lot more than what most people are willing to admit, after all a 0.6 pluggin versus a controller is a no contest as to whats best.

Ugh, it desynched again at the same place (around frame 96,000 in West Clock Town) and this time I honestly did not touch the computer. I'd assume Mukki was heading for the Trading Post, but instead he talks to one of the Bomber kids and never exits the dialogue... I was playing from the very beginning using the same plugin setup as Mukki.
It doesn't matter what your playing speed is, it'll have no affect on whether the game is going to sync or not in a certain place. There has been a solution many pages back that so far has worked for everybody whose tried it. I used to experience that exact same problem as well.

I generally find VBA the most friendly overall, but since the roms are so hard to find I'll have to go with GENS.

There is the mini games, perhaps optimizing each game with 1 or 4 players might be better.

I was gonna ask this now its been published. What has to be done in order to obselete this run? would you have to do optimal boosting while attaining 100%, or would you have to do something which makes it better on more subjective terms, which would simply be impossible becuase it would be unfair to produce a run thats gets that achives the same goals and obseletes the other one because its "more entertaining", just a thought.

unfortunatley I can't continue any further, here's what I've got.
When you say you can't continue any further, do you mean because of the illegal instruction thing? If so, that only happens because you're making the screen go down after you pass the signpost.
That was partially meant to be a joke, I simply meant I don't wish to continue any further. I've known about that game crash thing in Labyrinth for a long time so I thought I might as well show it.

Fighters Desiny was the first acclaimed half decent beat em up on the N64. Personally I think the game has too many repetive fights since you only really ever fight 2 people in the game, that Kung Fu master guy whos very easy to beat but teaches you a new move every time you win and that Joker guy who is a whole different story.

Definitley much better than the last version in every aspect and I don't see why HoD should be favoured over this run, as its a lot more surprising and doesn't contain any real moments of boredom.

Couldn't really fault it, apart from the fact you never hit B when swimming as Link when you were rescuing the Zora, now I think about it wouldn't it of been better to warp to GB after collecting the egg, then dumping it in the tank and getting an egg from Pinnacle island since there is 3 eggs there and you'll have to make 2 trips anyway when going there.

Game to Movie and Movie to Game adaptions usually end in failure. The best movie to game adaption is (and quite obviously) most likely Goldeneye, although TWINE follows the movie more closely while still being relativley good. In terms on Game to Movie I'd have to go with Resident Evil, even though it didn't have to much resemblece to the original game it just about stands as a movie within itself, but personally I think Game to Movie adaptations are worse than vice versa because movie makers don't try to make the game fit in with the movie and often make the wrong decision in trying generalise it so it appeals to the regular audience.

The only thing I find annoying about watching this is that it always desyncs at some point when ever I use a savestate, so I always have to watch it from the very beggining, but as long as I can watch it from beggining to end that all that matters.

I watched this again using the full 190% brightness and its certainly makes a significant difference to say the least, for anyone who wants to know how to do it simply have 1.6 as your pluggin and then goto Options >> Video and there you'll see a brightness scroll bar.

I can assure you that area can't be blj'd in, here's the proof http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hHMQlKynME Its a solid invisible wall and there is no slope to work with, its a dead end.

AKA: was I wrong about my 2 suggestions a page ago, or were you just waiting to test them to give feedback?
bkDJ, I didn't do the Spring yard stuff, sadly the walls aren't aren't penetratable in Spring Yard and the bouncer simply doesn't propel sonic the way it should do, so you're forced to take a more tradictional route thats slow and has lot of idle time in it, I only did Labyrinth 2 becuase I knew it could be significantly improved from what Upthorn had done. It would be great if some day this became an acceptable hack, since it may in essence be a crap game but its certainly funny to watch and it has that "I can do what I like when I like" type feel to it.

As far as I'm aware when I looked through the options there is no brightness setting for the game.

Just wondering wouldn't it be better to merge both the GBA and GB forums together as VBA can play all these game, it would save me all that uncesscary finger clicking and might bring more interest to both these systems in general since as far as I understand GB/GBA games are the least popular on the site.

The only remake worth doing is AlttP as the text scrolls faster, not sure about anything else though.
