I was entertained. I like the music, but I don't really like how most of the areas are so dark around a few spaces in the center of the screen.
That sadly is how the game works. Not sure why it was like that.. doesn't appear to be limitations. I think it was more to make things challenging by not being able to see the straight forward obvious path and having to explore... but this is merely a guess.

I was bored to tears and had to watch this in several chunks. Even with 2 players, it was incredibly repetitive and dull. I can't even think of anything redeeming that remotely interested me.
The movie is pure cheese and worth watching for the sake of that point.
This submission is pure.. not good game choice.

Very boring, very repetitive. Definitely not a good game to TAS. Playing on the other hand is a different story as I enjoyed it. Definitely way too long for a TAS as well.

First off... why this Rom Choice.. and secondly.. was this even done on the hardest difficulty?
And aims for highest score.. you didn't end every round with a Super, which would have elevated the score a lot more. Boring or not, there are interesting ways of weaving it into combos to nail it.

This should never have made it past a first submission. This is a God Awful hack that is not only unentertaining, but horrifically created and lagoriffic. Levels look very thrown together with a quick photoshop session and are very uninspired. The music is absolutely horrible and irritates all too quickly... and outside of one or 2 moments that I can't be sure were genuine TAS qualities or the hack was programmed that horribly.. no. I want my sub 5 minutes back please.
Definite no vote for lack of entertainment and horrible game choice.

I can not wait for a 130 star run. I hope this isn't going to be some BLJ filled run that ruins it. I loved the 70 Star Run because it's how most people would play, but done on a masterful level that you realize is absolutely incredible and is what a real TAS is.
Mind you... heck any run is gonna be awesome outside of a 0 star movie.

The thing is, my stance on hacks is pretty well known. It takes something impressive to actually make me go along with it, because there's shitloads of awful hacks constantly released. This is one of the first hacks I've seen of SM64 that wasn't shit.
You should definitely give this a shot or look up videos on YouTube [There is a long play up there that shows how painfully difficult some parts are and how deliciously delightful some of the levels are]

One of the rare times I will chime in on a hack... for the positive... but throw my hat in for a 130 star Super Mario Star Road run. After watching an 8 hour playthrough, I am sufficiently impressed and feel it is not only a worthy hack, but one I'd like to see one day on this site.

While aesthetically at some points.... it sucked... more times then none, this was absolutely incredible to watch! Definitely can see the hard work put into making this possible in such minimal fashion and some of the more clever tricks.

The Power Grip is required; there's a barrier in Norfair that only goes away once you have it. No, there's no justification for this; if it weren't for that barrier then you wouldn't need the Grip.
I had a feeling that was it. Sigh... really sad. 8% sounds way more impressive. Unless there is ever a way found to bypass it. I mean this game hasn't been even half explored as SM has... so maybe one day.

Is there a way, even if it ends up being slower, to simply skip the ledge climbing ability and just be crafty with bombs and contortion useage? Even if it killed 10 mins, would it suddenly make it 8%?

I actually think this is something rather interesting and different. I do NOT like the encode though... and that is as a DDR/ITG fan. It honestly was simply annoying and distracting... kinda detracted from the run.
I liked it though and am voting yes. It may be another category, but it is an interesting one worth further investigation on other done to death titles.
