No vote here. There was nothing about this hack that makes it particularly noteworthy, nor is there anything that differentiates it sufficiently from Air to make it worth publishing. The hack is unsightly. It seems like nothing more than a random organisation of tiles. Its sole purpose is difficulty at the expense of the fast flowing action that makes SMB TASes entertaining. The TAS itself is not entertaining. The player looks confused and ordinary. I wouldn't have believed this to be a TAS. If, like you say, the level design does not allow you to play anything other than slowly then, in my opinion, this is not a good game for a TAS at all.

I really liked Freenom's run and I loved this. I've been looking forward to this for a while. I think that this game is one of the best out there for a two-player TAS. The way the players interact to clear rooms offers so much more in entertainment than so many other two-player runs. The solutions that you guys found were funny, interesting and very clever. The improvement was obvious as was the amount of fine work put in. When this gets published I look forward to giving it a well deserved 8/9 :) Clear yes vote. Awesome job.

For glitchy TASes I'd like to nominate: [941] SGB Pokémon Green (JPN v1.0) by Primorial#soup in 04:24.53 This run is very confusing as the Dokashira Door glitch connects areas of the game that should not be connected. The graphics get all screwed up and the end result is just weird. I'd also like to nominate Emu for Genesis TASer of 2007. He has made three very nice Genesis runs: [952] Genesis Mickey Mania (USA) by emu in 20:42.37 [921] Genesis Escape From Mars Starring Taz (USA) by emu in 16:17.27 [880] Genesis Dynamite Headdy (USA) by emu in 33:22.82 I also second the nomination of Swordless Link for N64 TASer of the year. His work with Super Mario 64 has been sublime. From what I hear he has also been doing some very nice work with Ocarina of Time :) EDIT: For innovative TAS of 2007 I'd like to nominate: [817] SNES "all items" Super Metroid (JPN/USA) by JXQ in 1:10:45.02 For the new and exciting concept of input animation.

you can pass all (?) doors with BLJ.Then you are at a lil black room behind the door. But thats not the BRoD right ?
That is the BRoD. It gets its name because once you are there you cannot get out. For example; if I get into the BRoD in the lobby behind the basement door and I go through the door (provided I have the key), Mario will appear in the BRoD of the basement behind the lobby door. It is an endless cycle. If I don't have the key from BitDW the message stating that I do not have the key will appear and I am still trapped. It's possible to BLJ out of the upstairs BRoD, but not the basement one. In brief, a 0 star run is possible, but it is in no way related to the BRoD.

Isn't this all moot now since SL/AKA have finally bypassed DDD? By the way, great job on that, guys!
Seconded, *cracks open the champagne* what a wonderful occassion for the SM64 thread :)

Yes vote. You guys have achieved what I genuinely believed to be impossible. To find an area outside DDD in which to gain that much speed just didn't seem feasible. Beyond bypassing DDD you guys found loads of new tricks and routes which was great. I wasn't expecting something so different from the 1-star run. Ultimately, you guys have done things to this game that I hope no one ever does to me. Take a bow, my friends, take a bow.

BitFS will be loaded. We have just not yet found a way to bypass the DDD loading zone yet. So no that level cannot yet be skipped.

It's also worth noting that these exceptions were made because of problems with the good dump rather than an inability to find it. Example There are probably others and different reasons but this is what springs to my mind. So even if you still can't find it that won't exempt you from the rule.

I don't use PJ64 so I can't help you with the hotkeys, but like I said there is leeway outside the 3 frames so a fast finger would do it. A USB controller is not a mouse, but one would be forgiven for the misconception. Curiously, it is a controller that connects to your computer via the USB interface.

I want to be able to do Quick Spins as well. I don't have an Analog Stick and I don't plan on buying one. I tried setting my analog stick controls to my mouse and then making shortcuts with my directional pad so that I can move as usual when I'm not doing a Quick Spin, but when I did so my mouse cursor completely vanishes from my screen on all windows making simultaneous internet browsing and whatnot impossible for me. Aside from that fact, it also was very unresponsive and it would only work once every five or six tries, which, by the time I get it to work, may as well have just been a charge-up spin attack. This may be because I lowered my dead zone to 60% to make aiming the Hero's Bow / Hookshot, but I'm not sure."
If you're serious about gaming on an emulator I suggest that you buy a USB controller. If you want to persist with trying to quick spin with a keyboard use the directional keys rather than the mouse. Up, right, down and left + B for three frames apiece does it optimally and there is leeway either side of that. If you are fast, or are using slowdown, it should be fairly unproblematic.

Randil: That album is pretty good stuff, some of the music works really well. A huge amount of my playing enjoyment is based on the music and I agree that FF7 has a great soundtrack. I also really like Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Mega Man 2.

Ridgway, why exactly do you need to constantly remind us of your Scottish heritage? It is not impressive, interesting or useful information. It is not a subject for shameless topics or excessively long and pointless posts. It is embarrassing.

Bah! You guys don't know what you're talking about, JRB is a great level! This made it considerably more awesome. Nice work guys, looking forward to seeing more.

I do find it very useful and I thank you for doing it. I almost always watch movies on the emulator. It is particularly good, in FCEU, to link to the NES folder under Individual Directory Overrides so that the movies are immeadiately at my disposal.

For one of your first TASes this is pretty good. It was also one of my first TASes and you performed much better than I did :) Lag can be very difficult to manage, and this game has a considerable amount, but you handled it well. I wonder if you did use my run for comparison? It was very suboptimal (as you no doubt found out). Did you know of Acmlm's run? It was much better than mine and may have been of more use. I enjoyed watching an optimised run of this game (so my vote is yes), although I feel the painfully slow pace will hold it back from getting yes votes from the many that don't know it.

I like mmbossman's idea. Fiction doesn't particularly interest me, however, I'd greatly enjoy reading any university papers or reports written by users on their chosen subject. Although, such a thing merits its own thread.

That's a pretty cool idea. I just (very) briefly tested it and it seems to work. This could mean 12 less enemies on level 1 which should save several seconds.

This will certainly make it a two player run because one player is controlling two characters. The fact that it is used to save time makes it even more clear. In my opinion, even if the second player had no time saving purpose and was purely stylistic I'd still consider it a two player run. Having said that, why need you only use the second player once? Even if it doesn't save time elsewhere you may be able to do some cool things with it without losing time.* *DISCLAIMER: I have never seen or played this game and so do not know if this is feasible.

This route is very roundabout; as you said, the excessive swimming and moving across Termina Field will add up to a lot. Also, the Kafei bottle involves so much dialogue and waiting around that it would no doubt exceed the few minutes or so needed for the ranch bottle. This doesn't present itself as much of an opportunity for collecting rupees either as we already have all we need from the chests. The most gaping hole is that we wouldn't have the arrows so we couldn't get the hookshot rendering most of your route impossible :)

Good luck Guano. Thank you for all you did with OoT, I still watch (and enjoy) V1 to this day and will do no doubt for a while to come. Swordless: I'm looking forward to it :)

So is it classified as armed robbery even if the weapon in question was proven harmless?
Yes, because robbery is the taking of the property of another by force. The force here being the sales assistants fear for their immeadiate safety (they did not know that the gun was fake). It is what differentiates this instance from an instance of theft (no force necessary).

I'm using regular, mainly because I don't trust anti-desync. If I get halfway through to find that it desyncs in one place on one emulator and another place on the other that would cause a lot of problems. However, since the title screen still desyncs it looks like I'll need to rethink that view.

The beginning was very funny, it wore off slightly towards the end but it remained to be very charming :) This game is more suited to entertainment and so I give my yes vote and my vote for it to obsolete the current run.

Ah! Well then we have nothing to resolve :D Here is WIP 1: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1019249176/Majora%27s%20Mask.m64 I've posted this to make sure that there is no flashRAM etc. since that was somewhat of an issue last time. If anyone experiences any difficulty then please let me know.
