There probably is a way. I know that the boundaries are skipable in many places in the game due to the surf glitch, i just haven't found a way to apply it.

That is what i was trying to say and that is off track. The time from route 22 and back again has to be measured to see if that time is regained by catching a spearow.

These are all missingno. and are all generated by the name of the player. The letters are reserved for catching neccessary pokemon. Otherwise they can be caught using the trainer-fly glitch, but it would effectively be the same. I wouldn't mind to see these in a small link here or perhaps on a youtube. The reason that this would not be good for the run is that they are not needed, it would take the same monotonous process and more importantly there is a hell of a lot more glitched pokemon in the game than those shown above.

That is an interesting theory, but it definitely needs tested. Catching Spearow is off track. Now obviously the time lost in the battle will be regained by not catching the Pidgey, it needs to be tested if the travelling distance can be regained.

I wondering if it would be worth it. He'd first need to gain a minute back and then add to that to obsolete the movie. On the one hand one could argue that it is too late in the game to be using that glitch to any great effect, on the other however you could say that he has the entire movie in which to gain a minute.

Okay... 1) you should be able to glitch a snorlax considerably faster. If you are timing from speaking to the old man to the capture or appearance of Snorlax that is inaccurate. I would expect you to luck manipulate a Snorlax to appear in the very immediate water tile and capture him first time. You should also try different balls, i don't think that Poke balls are possible for anything level 50 plus however this high a Snorlax is 'unnatural' so it may be possible. This would be more entertaining than a master ball. 2) I can say right now Fissure is a bad idea. It has a PP of 5.

An ugly looking glitch, what then is the sexiest glitch?

I was about to obsolete this run, but i've got so much else on my plate that i won't have time. Good luck if you are and here's what i was going to do. - luck manipulate enemy moves so that every enemy attack has the shorest possible name. Will save a few hundered frames. - It takes a lot to glitch a Snorlax, really worth it? Gyrados' speed lets it down towards the end of the run, perhaps a few x speeds could be picked up, i havn't tried that yet though. - Another thought to keep in mind is that the shortest battle turn possible is XXX used Bite, XXX flinched. I suggest it's used more. Anyway, good luck, there's some good advice back in this thread. This is quite an undertaking.

Like Missingno and..... The only others i know of are those you can get through a gameshark, i've never tried them out though, so i don't know what they look like.

Lavoisier was guillotinned for inventing the oxygen discovered oxygen, otherwise there would have been nobody to behead him... This seems a very profound topic Pirate, i like it.

It is when you have savestates, rerecords and luck manipulation.

A lot of glitches only work after saving and reset. Recorded reset on more than just the SNES could be useful.

The link works for me, anyway it is the wrong file, the original disappeared but i managed to get it back using the program recommended by Nitsuja. Here is the current .m64 file. This should work.

I disagree. I had never even heard of this game and i found this movie entertaining. Short but sweet. Constant movement with jumps and perfect shots seamless in motion. The teleporting added a great twist and variety to the run. Also, the Mozart was very nice :) EDIT -- Yes vote

I suggest watching and rating some of the published movies, decide for yourself what is entertaining. See what has been published and think why, what is special about it. It'll give you a keen eye for a good TAS and that can be translated into your own work.

If you want to see the .m64 file here it is. I've tried encoding AVIs before yet to no avail. They always turn out with gargantuan file sizes despite my attempts to compress it and even then i can't get them to play. Until i figure out how to do it properly (and apparently it's really difficult) this is the best i can do, which is a shame i admit.

Yeah, titanic was a level specially added for the N64 version (yet at the expense of two levels??). The swimming parts were extremely difficult to optimise. What i tried to do was set Gex in line with the target and roll towards it, however, this was made more difficult by things getting in the way and i found that slight, sharper turns saved more frames than longer ones. Also Gex only goes up and down at 45 degree angles meaning that my route to the iceberg directly above looks quite questionable. I assure however that it is optimal.

Yes that's true of the older games. They are greatly weaker. That doesn't matter in this case, however, as all that is needed here are the pokedex entries.

Rare Candy is the obvious choice for speed. I can't see how Primo is going to make the leveling up entertaining.

The MIPS glitch has to rank up there. We'd have no 16-Star run with out it. The best glitches are those that can be seamlessly placed into the game and don't ruin the picture or music but are still obviously glitches. The OoT super-slide glitch is a good example.

NSMB is a great game to speedrun, the controls feel so much tighter than the older games. Did anyone get Super Mario 64 DS? It just isn't the same; Yoshi, Wario and Luigi just don't belong in this adventure.

It's slow. I've been looking a lot at your WIP and i've tried different things to gain frames over it, however, it is very difficult. I reckon you became more adventurous in the later parts of the level and then i won't get as pissed off, however the earlier parts are really good. Combine that with countless restarts and you should know that this is a very difficult game to optimize. I'll get there, work is continuing and i'll post a WIP once i am happy with the first level. I've done and redone the first two screens many times and at the moment i am 18 frames ahead. Mainly because i got past the knight without the need to jump.

I agree, but what other method could he use? I heard someone suggested that he get 99 exp. all but i have no idea how much difference that would make. Or he could just fight the high level pokemon through the missingno. glitch. Niether of these would be as fast however.
