Maybe, for some enemies' attacks, it is faster to let them hit you than it is to dodge them.

No, the Machoke version is faster. The AI being stupid helps. I discovered something rather unsettling. If the music fades out from one area to another, the game waits for it to fade before loading the next area. If the music doesn't fade out, the game doesn't wait. There were times that I triggered the bike music and entered a new area. It would have been faster to dismount the bike to trigger the normal area music, then enter.
Uh-oh. Yet I can't help but wonder if this also applies to the Gold and Silver versions.

Can we have a No Glitch Run now? I'd like to see that giant boss again.

Uh, I think Close Call only works if you're in danger or peril (ie, your HP is low). One of the two Lucky badges should do the trick though.

A small tip but a tip nonetheless: when battling the Goomba Bros, knocking out one of them will send the other into a tearful speech, costing a few seconds. Using a Fire Flower (you can obtain one by using the first spring you see) when they both have 3 HP left lets you avoid their talking. Yet is it truly faster to go a slightly separate route to obtain the Fire Flower?

Now we need the traditional 100% run.

I'm pretty sure that can be improved though.

Hmmm... You know, with all these time-saving glitches, it might be possible to do a no-glitch run and get it accepted. Like the Legend of Zelda games for SNES and Game Boy.

Don't worry, it's slower than the Mach Bike. Maybe about as fast as the Running Shoes.

Hmmm, perhaps you need maps of all the stages.

There's a few problems: first of all, it requires quite a detour; second of all, you have to fight a trainer or two (including your rival).

I wonder if any these glitches could be applied to the other Metroid runs...?

Sonic rip-off it may be (even the protagonists' names are similar) but I must say that the concept of collecting energy to keep yourself alive is quite original...or at least very rare.

There has yet to be a Rayman run done on this site so why not start off with perhaps the most hilarious entry in the series yet? After all, there's nothing funnier than hearing crazed bunnies suddenly wielding insane and inane weapons while going, "DAAAAAAHHHHH!"

A quaint game that plays suspiciously like your average Legend of Zelda: Overhead view, can get hearts, even a spin attack that has to be charged up. Still, for a game that's based on a movie, it's not half bad. And perhaps, like in your average Legend of Zelda game, it has glitches that can fast forward the game. Note: You can even move diagonally.

Er... Actually, Groudon's a pure Ground-type.
OK, thanks. That explains why Kyogre doesn't destroy Groudon. I somehow thought it was Fire/Ground. I don't know where I got the idea.

Why did you change the border? And is there any way to prevent that internal battery message from showing up near the beginning?
The border change was for stylistic reasons, like kirbymuncher did. As for the internal battery message, stop the movie and turn on real-time clock.
What I meant is that is there any way to prevent the message from showing up for the purpose of making the movie as short as possible?

This time it's more of a cleanup run for the glitches I wasn't aware of than an actual redo, but at least the improvements were more than I expected (over a minute of in-game time).
Must you always underestimate yourself? Also, I wonder if some of the tricks you discovered can be utilized in the Hyper Knuckles run. And is it just a coincidence that a hoax run of this game was submitted a few days earlier?

Does this game still freeze when you get to a certain point or is it TASable now? If so, would taking a tip from the Speed Run at Speed Demos Archive and buying the best pants and badges do any good?

Perhaps a Sonic Advance run using Amy Rose would be interesting, especially since she's the slowest and can't attack just by jumping on foes. And in Sonic Advance 2, Cream and her, er, Cheese's unique attack might make a good video (you have to unlock them first though).

Shouldn't we move this and others to a PC (DOS?) forum index now?
