hmm... I'dve rathered you collected the blue dots in Andy Asteroids. Mostly because you showoff by flying between them, and it's not hard to fly between them. It's hard to collect them. And some parts need some work, (but I only counted one missed shot, kudos) And I'm rather sure that you can keep Pete moving during the asteroid storm. He isn't affected by it. A good start, but I wouldn't submit it just yet. ^_^

And don't forget to edit the number of frames back in. As well as the number of rerecords (if you care about that). EDIT: do != don't

I may be recalling incorrectly. But doesn't this game not have credits at the end? If it doesn't would you mind too terribly leaving the ones at the beginning in. I don't think anyone would care too much about the time it takes when downloading this video. And all the rest of the avis on this site have the credits included. Plus I like the song. =P

I asked him this many times, but he insisted that the gain is cancelled out by switching weapons.
He does the same thing at Metalman. But then again, it's from Item 2 -> Item 1 -> Boomerang, shorter submenu time I suppose, but I can't imagine that the timing on all three of those is within 10 frames. I'll give it a test.

At 16:55 Morimoto Final Fighter could have presumably placed himself inside the wall above him and headed off screen to the right. I was wondering where that leads. Probably to a crash or something. But I'm just curious.

iirc, the sega CD came with extra RAM. Probably something to do with that.

In Gradius III some bosses die automagically without your having to fire a shot, perhaps all bosses. I never got past the second level without killing anything.

I thought Earthworm Jim had insane desync problems.

In Wily 4, at 20:17, would it be faster if he ran forward on the Item 2 before he jumped. I don't know if x-momentum is conserved in a jump or if it's capped. But if it is conserved he'd be able to save maybe a frame there. The only thing that nagged me about the movie.

I started on a no-kill run for Gradius III. But I quickly gave up because it was much too difficult (and I think it may simply be impossible.)

Inter-Advanced You scored 0% Beginner, 86% Intermediate, 81% Advanced, and 72% Expert! You have a good understanding of intermediate and advanced commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of the intermediate and advanced level questions correct. The puzzling part of your test result is the fact that you only answered 75% or less correct in the beginner section. Fascinating. Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it! For answers to the Beginner section only (the first ten questions), visit my blog: http://shortredhead78.blogspot.com/. I will post the answers to the other questions as soon as possible. My test tracked 4 variables. How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 99% on Beginner You scored higher than 99% on Intermediate You scored higher than 99% on Advanced You scored higher than 99% on Expert
Abuses programming errors. The difference between while and whilst is the first used in that manner is comparative, the second is contrastive.

Well, I tried this, and... http://www.filespace.org/nitsuja/loz-spinkill.smv it's 1 whole frame faster! But, I didn't try very hard at all to optimize it, so I probably don't start charging or start swinging at the optimal times/places, although for some reason it still looks faster. If it can't be improved a decent amount more than that it's probably not worth it though, since who knows what would've been necessary to wait for luck manipulation purposes anyway.
I remember, I didn't test that because of the extra swing (to start the charge). I just discounted it. It's faster? Odd. I'll give it some work.

Oh don't you worry, it is very possible on a console run :p. It means you take 3 hearts damage, rather than 2, but with the extra heart from sanctuary it's not too hard to do. Plus, it's only 10 minutes into the run, so messing it up and restarting isn't wasting much time. I manage it most of the times I try it, only messed up once since I got the hang of it.

Maybe it's not good advice for a normal playthrough, but for someone speedrunning the game I think it's quite possible with a little practice; I've been able to do it several times in real-time (losing the same amount of hearts), and if you grab the heart container in the sanctuary then even if you completely mess up the timing you can still hit the switch and get away alive.
I've been owned. I guess I just suck at playing Zelda. ^_^

I never knew you could skip killing the enemies in the Eastern Palace room with the 4 pink bubbles surrounding a pot.
Sorry, I missed this post, this would probably not be advisable in a console run because of how much health you lose and how exact the timing has to be. The only reason why I discovered it is because I was messing around with frame advance.

After the key. Because there was a statue in the room with the key (takes a full heart at a time), and there's a passage to the right without having to go north. (That was blocked by a sandtrap+wormthing, >.<) The arrows were very close to the path, (it even saved me ~5 frames coming back through that room), and I know I'll need arrows in Hyrule Castle. Dashing is 3 times faster than walking normally. Whereas, walking diagonally is only around 1.5 times faster. So ignoring the dash startup time, it's always faster to go as far as possible without overshooting and then go perpendicular. However, to be honest I didn't test the way with the diagonal. But the enemy shouldn't be that much of a problem, those guys are realitely easy to manipulate. I'll test it. I have a strong feeling it'll be slower, though. EDIT: I'm pretty sure I did, I think I remember it being slower because of a combination of the sword taking so long to charge and the fact that you walk slower with your sword out. But I can't be certain. I'll test that again too.

Oh, I thought you'd decided it wasn't faster to kill yourself, at least it sounded like you tested it out pretty thoroughly. I think Deviance was talking about a speedrun, and something that saves time in a human speedrun may actually be slower in a time attack.
I tried out one path of two (that I saw) for killing myself. I tried the one that looked the most profitable. But I'm not very skilled at looking at the counter-intuitive yet. I can hit the sandworms twice in a row with spinslashes which is quicker than hitting them with an arrow twice. And even though the arrows do slightly more damage than a spindash (I think :? ), because they're slower I always lose a hit on the subsequent worm. Plus to manipulate the sandworms into heading toward you enough to land at least two arrows on him is *really* difficult. And you can't hit them twice if they are heading perpandicular to you. And of the limited tests I've done, you can't hit them as fast as possible if they are moving directly away from you. And remember, the Knights were much larger targets, Battle Sumarry: First set, I double spin the first, arrow the second, and double spin the third. I try to keep the sandworms out of the ground just long enough to get hit as many times as I can, and then burrow as quick as possible. All worms burrowed within 15 frames of being hit the last time I hit them this set. Second set, I double spin the first, then hit it with my sword (for the third worm direction and speed manip), arrow the second, and double spin the third. I made the second worm stay up for a very short time and the first for a long time, so I could spindash both of them at the same time next set. The third stays up longer than the rest this time. Because the randomness in where they appear isn't as touchy as the randomness in how they move and how long they stay up, I wasn't able to get him closer to me, as such I lose a few frames on a perfect fight where I somehow make them do everything right. (The timing of the third is most important, obviously) Third time, Spin bounce off the first into the second, arrow the first (dehd!), then go around the second to the third for a double spindash (the most I would'dve been able to hit the second one with was one sword swipe, which isn't worth it). Again with the speedy retreat of the third, and the slighty longer with the second so I could work on both of them at the same time. Fourth set, spin once, as short as possible, then arrow right to 2nd (dehd), arrow up to 3rd (dehd). I don't know if you can rapid fire arrows on this boss, but I'm pretty sure that the invincibility time is absolute. If I could somehow come up with a way to make them always come directly towards me, I might concievably kill them all in 2 sets. But so far, I haven't been able to sucessfully land two arrows on a single worm without sacrificing more hits than it's worth on another worm. I actually dread doing this boss again, because it's so difficult to do correctly. But if I can save even 30 frames, I'll be more than willing to do the second half of the dungeon over again. It would probably be short work for someone experienced in luck manipulation, and I need to get good at that. And I fully recognize that any shortfallings in my movies are my shortfallings as a timeattacker. Which is why I love to get comments. Because I'm still new at this, and still unsure about a number of things. I just have to get better.

So, I'm at a crossroads, should I wait for Deviance to get back to describe how and when to kill myself, or should I proceed?

Nope. You can't make something extractable to only one thing. I suppose you could encrypt it lossy somehow that wouldn't effect the movie, but then it wouldn't be exactly the same (ie it might not be possible to reproduce on a console).
