Axe, you get all the upgrades you miss automagically when you defeat the boss. So if the boss damage varies like that, then it's probably wisest to beat nothing.

In the warpless run it's used all over the place.

This could also because it uses frame SKIP to go at this speed...
All frame skip means is it calculates but doesn't draw the frame. If it didn't calculate the frame the game would play completely different.

Not really, iirc the SNES runs off of a 1.9 something MHz machine. Assuming software emulation is 50x slower if and you have a 1 GHz box, that means 10x the speed. And I have a feeling the actual emulation is much faster than that because the Turbo button skips at 15x and doesn't even strain my box. (1.2 GHz)

Um... For an emulator to get to a certain frame, wouldn't it need to calculate the gameplay for all the frames before it? The only way I could imagine this working is if the emulator saves a state on EVERY frame. Do you really want tens of thousands of save states for one movie?
You can work it like the turbo button, only without actually drawing the frames until you get to the frame in question.

I killed him for the drop.

Before getting to the Eastern Palace you can walk into the armos statue that blocks your path, get hurt, and walk through him while flashing from the damage. Saves the time taken to kill him.
You can actually hit him once and walk right past him. And I manipulated a Octorok to be right there, so I don't waste time picking up the blue rupee he drops.

I'll take a look at it, but timed hits take the same amount of time as untimed hits. You need as many Flower boxes as you can get. BTW, you don't need to power level *at all* use that stars and ignore everything else. Take a look at the current speedrun. The fastest way to defeat the Hammer Bros. is to jump on the first, jump on the 2nd, punch the first, jump on the second again. You'll have the fireball by the time you reach Croco, so you shouldn't be relying on the jump too much. Just enough to make it through the Hammer Bros in 4 turns. I'll actually take a look at this when I get home.

Some of the ones he killed were to get the Str upgrades. For optimization, what's the least amount of Str upgrades you can get and still beat the boss before he gets all laser eyed?

I judged it from reentering the overworld. 1:45 And I am, it saved about 20 seconds through the entrance to the first dungeon.

Strafing the wall is the exact same speed as running alongside it. Even when you are facing the wall. *nod* I thought of that as I watch my magic meter slowly fill up. >.<; I also noticed I fired nothing once in the boss battle. >.> And I need to collect at least 120 rupees, and I'm going to grab the 2 300 rupee chests in Dark World Kakariko Village. I need 110 rupees for Kiki to get into the 1st palace. I need 10 rupees to temper my sword. I need 500 for the flippers. I need 100 for the Super Bomb. 720.

Yes, I know, finally. ^_^;; I was actually trying to get only the four drops on the right hand side. That's the best I could come up with without pausing. Drops seem to be affected by a combination of which direction you are facing, where you are, which direction you are moving in (if any), if you are taking an action (such as swinging your sword or using an item), and what frame it is, but it doesn't seem to be affected by what path you take (ie, if I kill the enemy then go up+right+up then wait for the drop, I get the same drop if I went right+upx2 after the drop.) Lots of possibilities, you just have to brute force it, I suppose. I can't remember why I didn't manipulate those. Especially the one on the left. Seems really dumb now that I see it. >.> I can try to hex it in, but it'll probably screwup the rest of the drops.

File: http://www.nerdparadise.com/crap/LoZLttP-Omni-WIP2.smv First Dungeon complete. Current running time: 10:53 About the arrows with the boss, for some reason I couldn't always fire every 17 frames. (Guessing something to do with the number of sprites on the screen). So I just fired ASAP at every chance and used the mandatory delay to move around. I couldn't get the last arrow to the last Knight before he started his last jump. *shrug* I tried though. I got way more rupees than I thought I would be able to. ^_^ So good on that. If you're playing it with nitsuja's new version thing, I've got #1, #2, and #3 checked, but I don't think I've used #2. EDIT: Grammar.

If you try to open a ROM in SNES9X in fullscreen mode, and then click browse, it crashes.

I'd rather not kill enemies that it'd be quicker to avoid. Anyway, here's me getting with the update. I'm up the the room with the Big Key in it. I either have to find a way to manipulate the Tangelas into *not* dropping or find a smooth way to get the rupees they drop. Note: When I use the boomerang to get the key, it seems as if it'd be faster to just walk and pick it up. But the key isn't pickupable until a few frames later and it's enough to make walking to the key and back 3 frames slower. Note: I skip a green rupee toward the end of this video yet I pick up one at the beginning of the dungeon. Reason being is I lose no time with the first rupee, but the last green rupee would have cost me a few frames to I ignored it.

Yes, you can. I've done it recently with an unmodded controller, but you have to have popeye arms.

Hmm... it seems that Bisqwit's wiki script doesn't like urls with anchors. I've editted the submission to have the exact link. But yarbles beat me to it. As did /*-

They are about the same, I'd have to see which is faster. If it's within a few frames I'll do 6 before 2, because I'll save at least 20 in the #2 boss fight with the Gold Sword. And doing Misery Mire so soon is just cool.

2. There is a key in Skull Woods in the room 2 SCREENS LEFT of the entrance where there are 2 Gibdos and a switch you mush hold down. The key is under a pot. This is more optimal than the one I get later and Mirror warp.
Thanks.

Right now I'm debating pretty heavily with myself whether it's faster to get the 100 rupee chest or manipulate enemies to get the extra 100. Because each kill takes (Number of hitsx16 frames + reward spawn + frames of manipulation if applicable) and I'd need a total of 20 kills to earn at least 120 rupees. It's not so much whether or not the amount of frames are less (because they clearly are) it more of a "Will I be able to naturally come across that many enemies of that one type before the first Crystal Dungeon?" Which isn't quite so sure as I'll be warping everywhere.

Random Semi-Related Note: if you are a master of the hex, you can find a part of my run up to the bowling ball part of the first dungeon where I stopped to plan my route. It's obsolete now that I'm planning on using save + quits and all that.
