I'm at a dilemma. Right after the 'pushing the block into the hole part', I'm 15 frames faster, but I have to slow down right before the lava in order to catch the edge of the floor. That causes me to lose some frames. I was almost able to skip the 'getting hurt to be pushed upwards' part, but I was literally 1 frame short. I'll just probably redo the entire level.

I think I'll wait until after the final Bowser fight to do the extras because, like Spoony_Bard said, I won't have to switch back and forth between maps as much if I just choose a straight path from map to map. The order will be 6-E to 1-E, first to last.
I think this is a bad idea because it would ruin the pacing of the movie. It would also probably be slower, too. I had no problem with the fact that the extra was done right after 1-8. What's wrong with that? Oh, BTW, this and the last movie are incredible. Please continue on.

Agreed. Even approaching 100 minutes, I didn't want it to end.

I'm about 2/3 done with Marble Zone 1 and am 23 frames ahead of xebra's previous version so far. I haven't looked into the affecting the randomness of the squishers, so there's that. I'll see if I can finish it soon. BTW, I think that glitch is useless unless it does something I haven't tried yet.

I haven't quit Sonic. I'll be working some more on it this next week.

I finally finished the game with a time of 23:59 without dying. I was really freakin lucky on the last two levels, because I hadn't really practiced them.

Even though it's kind of long for a racing game, I found it pretty entertaining. I like how you'd bounce off the other cars to stay on track. Yes.

I'd like to see a new SMB3 100% done as fast as possible (as opposed to what Genisto is doing). For newer systems, probably Ocarina of Time for N64. That would be incredible to see the amount of side-hopping and insane fighting techniques used.

That would be great if there was. My Nintendo (or any that I've found) hasn't worked since 1995 :P

I'm actually messing around with a wall glitch in the same level. I don't know if it saves any time though. Here it is. I've managed to get into the room with the 5 tv boxes, but I haven't been able to reproduce it yet. My version of MZ1 in the movie is suboptimal, BTW. I just wanted to get to the spot.

That's cool. It would make it a lot easier for both of us, seeing how some people are getting impatient *cough*truncated*cough* I'll see what I can do with the Marble Zones.

Just completed Green Hill Zone 1 in 0:24. It's pretty much identical to xebras (it would have to be I guess). Although I am 1 frame slower.

You just have to press left a little just before the super-steep part.

You can also shave various amounts of frames here and there with better slope jumping. Just by tweaking a few jumps from ~00:41:00 on I was able to get to the checkpoint at 00:45:32, which is more than the 9 frame improvement you needed for a 46s finish. I haven't actually sat down and examined the rest of the level but my "instinct" tells me you can probably whittle the level down to 43-44s on minor improvements alone.
I am aware of its imperfections. As I said, these are just test runs, but within a couple weeks I'll start on a professional run. By the way, I appreciate your advice. Do you have anything to say about the route I'm taking in Star Light Zone 1? I'm sure the time can lowered because of reasons you stated.

It worked. 0:47 reached, though the robotnik battle can be touched up a bit to become 0:46. I'll worry about frame-precision later.

Cool, thanks for the tip! That brought the time to 0:48! All you have to do is turn Sonic to the left just as you're leaving the jump.

By the way xebra, do you know of the Scrap Brain wall glitchs? Here is a short demonstration.

I'm just doing test runs for now (Like Quietust did before making the final version). Although, I'm not sure if I have a whole lot of time right now to do that (sound familiar?). I took a stab at Star Light 3 and got a 0:57. Due to Robotniks up-and-down movements, I had trouble being able to jump up to him consistently. EDIT: Got a 0:51 mostly because of a much better Robotnik technique.

I reached 0:25, but the route you're describing is slower than the one I used (I used it in the 0:27 video above). I did what you said, but instead I landed on the ledge with the fan and that gave me a small boost. EDIT: Oops, sorry. The link is fixed now.

I've been trying out Star Light Zone 1 and am stumped on how to get to 0:26. I've gotten 0:27, so I must have an incorrect route. I'll see what I can do. EDIT: Got it down to 0:26. Though, I'm puzzled to how a speedrun could have acheived this time.
