Okay, I tried what you said and got a 0:19, but I don't think that's the reason why. I'm sure you're aware of this, but if you're not I found a way to jump over the wall after the "speed bumps" leading to the escalating stairs near the end of the level. I haven't seen the speedrun of this level, so I don't know if this is used or not. Have a look: http://www.geocities.com/eonouzo/StarLightZone2in19.zip The time can easily be brought down to 0:18, possibly even 0:17. The jump before the crumbling floor at the beginning can be done better. This is merely a demostrational video. EDIT: Okay, just brought it down to 0:18 barely. EDIT2: Woohoo! 0:17 reached! BTW, I had to slowdown at the end because of the formation of the rotating platforms. P.S. I realize Star Light Zone is a long way from where you're at, I just hope I can motivate you to continue on :)

I did a quick runthrough of the Star Light and Scrap Brain Zones just to give me an idea of what they would look like. I find it hard to believe some of the times (especially SLZ 2) unless I took some terrible routes.

I must say I did not enjoy the DKC 101% run. No offense to the author, but it gets really annoying having the Kongs stop, enter and fail every minigame and just continue on. It really ruins the pace IMO. But I loved the 25:19 version and would rather nominate that instead. BTW, I liked the Mega Man 7 run by Tinister much more than any of the Xs, but I don't think it should get a star.

It usually has to do with how fun they are to play with. Looks has its advantages, but to me it's the gameplay.

Okay, I made up to the big easter island heads (level 4), but died on accident.

Did anyone else think of the Dio song when they saw this thread?

Oh, and I love this movie. One of the best ones on the site, in my opinion. *thumbs up*
Cool, thanks. :)

I'm not sure of the differences between the Genesis and SNES versions, but there are only 37 levels in the SNES version while there are 41 in the Genesis version, which makes it more appealing to me (choose the harder version). Also the graphics are better IMO. I disagree with the sound being better. The music for the SNES is different from the Genesis version anyway. True, the SNES version would be faster, but since it's missing levels it would be unfair to obselete the Genesis version with the SNES version. EDIT: Okay, I played the SNES version a little and can say that the long pauses between levels more than makes up for the fact that there's no short movie between worlds.

Can't we just go back to making kickass movies?

This is different from a normal speedrun in that the goal is to not die. Gradius II is my favorite of the Gradius games(mostly because of the music), so I thought it would be neat to see how far I could get without dying while still being impressive. I managed to get partway through level three after about 100 attempts. Seems I have trouble dodging stationary objects :P http://www.geocities.com/eonouzo/Gradius2-ouzo.zip I'd love to have someone show me just how much I suck at this game.

I'm sure that, with the everchanging environments, there are plenty of fun things to do to keep the entertainment alive. Nice job so far Genisto!

Bubble Bobble - Love the music, but too repetetive. Contra 3 - Very nicely made, but Contra games are a little boring IMO. Chip n' Dales - A little too linear. The Lost Vikings - Too flawed. Maybe next year :) Battletoads all the way. Has loads of personality and is done magnificently.

Looks awesome. Glad to see more than one site hosting time attacks. I also like how, with long time attacks, you show the highlights of them which makes it more exciting. It's a shame about the pauses, but what can you do. Keep 'em comin'!

This movie seems like an inside joke to those who have played it (or broke their Nintendo trying to figure it out). I usually like bad games played fast, but unlike Dark Castle for instance, this game is not entertaining. So, no.

When you're getting hit, wouldn't it be faster to move a little to the right so that the "ouch" animation is pushing you to the left? In the movie, when you get hit, you're stationary because of the ledge.

I have a question: In one of the Circus levels, when you are standing on the cylinder that bobs up and down, there's a gap that appears you avoided. Why?

Super Metroid (any %) by Terimakasih Excellent playthrough of a classic game and despite being more than 3/4 of an hour, it never bored me once. Also, SMW 96-exit by VIPer7 is another excellent of a long, wholly entertaining movie.

Without a doubt. Sprint completely obliterates the game faster than anyone thought imaginable.
