Thanks again for the help, Omnigamer! Here's a quick example for a 100% route. I can now complete Area 8 after only entering 2 rooms, and don't need the blue communicator equipped anymore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYmqVO_zGkA The video description has more information. I'm not sure if this can save time in any% or not. Only a few levels actually have enough doors to make use of the storage glitch successfully. Area 8 is the main one. Area 12 has a lot of doors, but sadly there is not a door between the two elevator rooms so there is no known way to warp past the barrier with this method. Suggestions are definitely welcome.

Yea, Omnigamer said he'd look into this but I'm not sure how far he got so far. I wrote a lot of information in the descriptions for those videos, but I'm not terribly interested in retyping it all. If you want more details, just read those videos. ^_^ This is obviously useful in 100%, although I only found a way to save time in Area 8 so far. The best case scenario would be to wrong warp from early Area 12 to Master-D's revival chamber or something, but unfortunately it seems like every wrong warp in Area 12 either takes you to a different door in that "checkpoint" or to Area 1. I haven't been to warp, for instance, from the first elevator shaft of Area 12 to the second elevator shaft. We'll see how this develops.

A good TAS will definitely be under an hour. I had a run two days ago that go to the cutscene at a little over 1:09. I sadly missed the wrong warp, but that doesn't change my time getting there. I can probably cut another 3 minutes off that, and I collect some extra upgrades/items because I can't rely on health drops constantly. A TAS can definitely cut most of those trips out.

I can't speak for others but I know why it worked on ZSNES for me. I made a save at Miraj (the town before this temple) in SNES9x, transferred the save to ZSNES, got through the temple, and then saved at the next soonest point so I could use SNES9x again. It wasn't a fresh file for me. I loaded the old save file. That's why it seemed so odd. It didn't work on SNES9x because I never save/loaded, but the same exact file worked on ZSNES because I loaded. Really silly.

I'm really looking forward to this, and I approve of the games you selected (Gradius and SMW are really strong picks, SM64 I have no strong opinion for/against).

Well, since Mecha bumped this thread, I may as well post this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s4gKloYoTg If you get yourself lodged in the ceiling as UFO and get hit a few times, you can screenwrap and end up somewhere new. I have NO idea where I end up, but I turned on an invincibility code and tried escaping from the water for awhile with no success. I doubt this is actually useful. In fact, it feels like I'm still in the same part of the level I was before the screenwrap, but this time underwater. Anyways, maybe it'll be useful someday. Just throwing it out there.

Great news! Now it's time to redo the SNES TAS, because that is outdated. :D

The slightly offset ending theme made it all worth it.

I thought one of the newer emulators had reset support? Am I just imagining that? :(

IIRC, after a reset you will sometimes begin at level 5. A run of the "legit" version can still play all 6 levels then if you can manipulate the game to start at level 5 on a reset after you beat the first 4 levels. :D

Voting yes. This is a really silly run of a really awful game. I enjoyed watching it.
Beats the game without completing a single stage
Could you elaborate on this? I am unfamiliar with how this game works. What actually counts as "completing a stage"? It looks like the elevators don't count and taking a warp doesn't count, so I'm a bit confused. Nice work. ^_^

Because of the encode. It's 30 fps. Normally they're visible.
Atari 2600 runs at 60fps? Also, voting no. Looked like just ordinary gameplay to me. Nothing extraordinary here.

It's very amusing that a console that isn't entertaining is getting no votes for not being entertaining? LOL
It's more the fact that the console was approved and people were excited about it, yet seem to just now realize that the games are not good to watch.

The Atari 2600 is not an entertaining console to watch. That being said, someone should TAS Firefighter. IIRC, it can be beaten in like 6 seconds.

Yes, that is actually exactly what I would use to do it. Haha. Here is a list of passwords you can use (all passwords are entered from the title screen): 940710: Debug mode 890493: Level 1-2 490956: Level 2-1 921115: Level 2-2 900370: Level 3-1 130281: Level 3-2 926899: Level 4-1 099870: Level 4-2 976854: Level 5-1 175089: Level 5-2 052195: Level 6-1 007327: Level 6-2 406957: Level 7-1 469862: Level 7-2 495133: General Headslot (Final boss....but the map is the same as 1-2 but with a different spawn point/palette) When debug mode is activated, you can press A+Y to turn into a cursor and move around the screen. As a cursor, you can do a bunch of stuff like placing new enemies/CDs/exits/etc, but flying around is the most important part for mapping out the levels. All sprites are still active in this mode, so the CDs and enemies/checkpoints/powerups will all still be visible (and some enemies will still chase the cursor!). Some of the checkpoints and powerups do not display correctly in this mode, but all the small CDs do.

Hahaha were you actually serious about wanting to TAS this, feos? I was hoping you weren't, because I don't want to have to redo my run again... But yea, I can add these maps to the list of things that I need to do for you. I'm already way behind on those! Sorry. :(

Can I vote Cardboard for martyr of the year? He's got it in the bag. Also, I vote yes. I watched the entire thing and don't even know why. It managed to keep me interested for one full minute, which is far more than anyone expected. Plus, it's an awful game.

Wow. That is all. Edit: Just to be clear, that is in response to the Battlemaniacs TAS. Not in response to your BtDD news. :D

Wow this is an incredible TAS, Dooty! Very well done! I love the OHKO that is used on Rocky and Dark Queen. Those fights were always pretty boring, in my opinion, so it's nice to see them ended so quickly. I'm amazed we didn't think of that sooner; a similar strategy is used in the other Battletoads games, but I didn't even think of trying it here. Nice find. ^_^ I also feel really dumb for not timing out how long it takes the bonus levels to count down your score. I always just assumed it was longer if you had collected pins/dominoes but I never tested. Haha. The Snake Pit is brilliant. That 'damage boost' in the fourth screen is ingenious. I am very impressed! :D What is the camera bug in the second "checkpoint" of the rat race? Is that because Rash is above the screen and the camera gets confused, or is Pimple actually falling too fast for the screen to keep up? That Dark Queen kill. It is so good. Very easy "Yes" from me. No question. This is a fantastic improvement!!!
