Your run obsoleted that one?! :O That should not happen. They are very different games.

I'm a bit lost here. Are you comparing NES vs SNES Battletoads & Double Dragon? The two cannot possibly be compared. They are entirely different. Basically none of the tricks in the NES version work in the SNES version, and the SNES version has its own set of tricks. The SNES version just plays faster overall. I have spent a lot of time playing both versions. There is no reason that TASes of both versions cannot exist (and they already do). If I misinterpreted what you two are discussing, I apologize. ^_^ Edit: The biggest difference between the two is that the SNES version lacks the dash jump that is in the NES version. Well, you can dash jump in the SNES version, but it can only be done by getting hit/dying while dashing and then holding the direction you were running + the jump button as you recover/respawn.

Let me know if you start a fresh BtDD (SNES) run! There were a lot of new tricks found somewhat recently (maybe last year?). I haven't seen the current TAS in awhile but they might be of some use.

Haha silliest run of 2012 is a great category. You better hope that feos doesn't do the Battletoads & Double Dragon playaround in 2012 then, because that is going to be incredible. :P I'm sad the glitch doesn't work for you, either. :( It'd be so nice to skip that level because it is SO HORRIBLE. Haha. Oh well. I'll have to watch your WIP at some point in the near future.

Yea I'm not entirely sure how it happened. I played around a bunch with frame advance and tested all the possible inputs I could've been doing during that punch, but had no luck reproducing it. :(

The time can very definitely be improved, even if only by a few seconds. You can end the snake level early if you fall past the tail of the last snake. I'm not sure if it works with 2 players or not, but it would need to be tested. You can watch it in my latest speed run at 13:45 or so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITPfsKW-8Kw I ran into a few other bugs, but none of them were very useful. The only potential bug I ran into a few times is this level 1 skip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScHfbs13hXk I don't know if it's a legit thing or a cartridge bug. I tried reproducing it on emulator and had no luck (I also had no luck reproducing it on console, but it happened a few times over the course of several hundred attempts).

Very yes from me also! I've been waiting for an improvement to Plok for a long time and this definitely delivers. It makes me so happy to see fleapit destroyed. :D Great work, partyboy1a!

Excellent job! The fleapit levels were incredible! I'm so glad that its possible to fly between the water and the terrain in so many of those levels; it skips a lot of very painful navigation. Haha. My personal favorite level was Gohome Cavern. That was nasty. Very impressive TAS!

That was weird. You warp to level 3, die, then go to the boss and get a game over, then win? Sure. Why not.
When you're dealing with Battletoads, that is actually a pretty tame result. The emulator didn't even break!

Hahaha. I love it. Saw this a few days ago and got a good laugh out of it. We knew something like this was possible. I'm still amazed that you two finally found a way to do this! Now to find the single player console method. ;P Obvious yes vote. Congrats, TheZlomus and DyLaX!

Wow, that's awesome! I didn't even think of trying that shortcut, even after I found the same thing with the UFO. VERY nice find. ^_^

Voting yes. I've seen biggyboy try to run this game many times in the past, and most of the attempts were disastrous. Anybody who thinks this TAS isn't superhuman certainly needs to play this game. The item collection in this TAS was really efficient, especially considering how finicky the hitboxes for those are, and the boss fights were very well done. Definitely an entertaining watch for me.\ Nice job, goofydylan!

This TAS is incredible. I never thought I'd see the day this game was TASed because it is emulated so poorly in SNES9x, but I'm glad I was wrong. It is really a pleasure to see my real-time routes perfected and improved. While the last TAS of this was rejected for lacking entertainment value, I think we did a really good job of highlighting how complex and entertaining the combat system is, despite the slow movement speed of the main character. Obvious yes vote here. Great work, Pasky!

As the current console record holder, I approve of this run. I admit that jealousy had initially prevented me from accepting the legitimacy of the run, but I have since then come to terms with the fact that I am simply not good enough at coloring. Congrats, adelikat. The better man has won. Voting yes.

Having watched blechy and cyghfer do Goof Troop attempts for the last month or so using death abuse, I just want to stop by and show my support for using these tactics in an improved TAS. I'm looking forward to seeing this!

I've been working on an RTA for this game for a few months now, and finally decided I should consider using the TAS strat for the fight against Nebiroth at the end, since it'll cut a large chunk of time off my run. The issue is that I cannot figure out quite how the TAS manages to hit him so frequently. It looks like the goddess bracelet is hitting him at heights below his head. Could anybody shed some light on this for me? Thanks!

Hahaha, that's amazing. I didn't even consider that the cutscene trigger extended outside of the room. Thanks for the clarification. ^_^

Would it be possible to do a ceiling zip in the centipede miniboss room of Ground Man's stage before the cutscene? You have control in that room for a very long time; I feel like it would be possible to zip out of the room before the cutscene triggers, though I'm not good enough at ceiling zipping to test it myself.

In the intro stage, do you really need to take 3 damage? I was playing on my cart a few days ago and Ashura/Raglan/whoever at the end of the intro stage did two damage to me instead of just one. That'd save you a hit in the intro stage. I'm hesitant to offer suggestions though, since there are apparently so many versions of this game. It might just be another one of those differences between versions.

Do you mean killing Zitz right after the Rat Race? That may be tasted.
Yeah, if you kill Zitz as part of the ending of the Rat Race, does the level end supersede the game over screen? If so, you could save quite a bit of time.
My brother and I have done this on console a few times, and we never experienced ending the level AND game overing player 2. We have ended the level right as player 2 was finishing dying, and he starts in Clinger Winger with full health. Similarly, if he dies too soon, the game over screen appears and you need to redo rat race. Granted, this was not a frame perfect test so there is still a chance of it doing something fun if the level ends and player 2 game overs on the same frame. Neat idea!

I've been keeping up with this run from the start and have been watching all the WIP vids, and yet the final video STILL impresses me. This is truly an amazing run. I'm glad I was able to help even just a little bit. ^_^ Great work feos & MESHUGGAH! Obvious 'yes' vote from me.

Wow. I am speechless. This is an incredible TAS! Great work sparky, parrot14green, and woabclf! This is an obvious "yes" from me. Also, lol @ the King Airship fight.
