Finished watching it in Dolphin, I really enjoyed watching it and was surprised at some of the shortcuts especially the last one (new skip you found during this TAS) so I'm voting yes!

if you keep making sub-optimal TASes then people will start to judge your work even before watching your TASes, I suggest you to try to refine your work, it doesn't have to be the best but optimised enough so that no one could easily improve it (by bigger time difference).

You can manipulate grenade guy's location. https://tasvideos.org/Forum/Topics/1481 CLChambers00 from Youtube: "Man with grenade's location changes every frame. It cycles through the locations. So if you finish stage one on a certain frame then the bomb guy will show up in a certain location, and if you finish one frame later then he will show up in the next location in the cycle. The first location is based upon the frame you enter the map screen which is not possible to buffer through text, and yes the second level spawn is based on the frame you end level one. "
Thanks, I have read the forum topics you linked, I already know of two different methods to manipulate grenade guy's location, So yeah changing grenade door is not an issue for me anymore.

Thanks to Alyosha for verifying and syncing this run, so I have improved level 6 by 15 or 16 frames and ended the work right after that as I am on a break from TASing can't really consider working on it again any sooner but my next TAS would be a bk2 movie for sure, I don't know which grenade guy I am getting in level 7 after these 16 frames as my goal was to ensure that improving 15 frames on level 6 was possible, I have noticed that BizHawk gives you extra lag in some lag intensive areas.

I'm currently using NESHawk (BizHawk 2.8), will definately try to make a new TAS on BizHawk but not any sooner. So far I tried converting this fm2 into bk2 and shifted the inputs 1 frame earlier (as BizHawk power on 1 frame sooner than FCEUX) and it desyncs because you get different grenade guy door in level 1.

Why do enter a password at the beginning? Or is it a cutscene?
1. it skips the opening cutscene to save time 2. it unlocks a secret difficulty, which is the hardest in the game. using the hardest difficulty is preferred.
and plus it doesn't skip any gameplay content

Yes there is a reason. FCEUX doesn't emulate NES faithfully, so movies made on it can't be reproduced on real console. BizHawk movies instead can be reproduced on real console. This is important in this case, because the level of TAS optimization for this game is getting to a point where minor emulation differences set a line between faithful and unfaithful emulation. You're still allowed to use FCEUX, but I really wish you started using BizHawk. I've already seen enough controversy about the validity of records for this game...
Oh this is a serious concern then, I am excited to try out Bizhawk

Congrats again! But why FCEUX instead of Bizhawk ?)
Thanks, when I first time installed FCEUX it was the only emulator I know of so I used it are there any reasons for which I should use Bizhawk ?

You jumped into the questions which I did not even ask you, I just saw your post as an individual's post and expressed a doubt (only), I didn't accuse anyone.

If this submission and argument of allowing the use of in-game (non-password, non-cheat-code) level skipping were from a newcomer/rookie to TASing/speedrunning (or even a troll), I'd at least understand the potentially innocent nature of the question. But HappyLee has *checks notes* 17 active publications here on TASVideos at the time of posting, primarily of the original Super Mario Bros. games and its sequels/variants/hacks. Heck, one of them was published less then 24 hours ago! If this isn't an out-of-season April Fool's joke, it is a very bizarre hill to die on for someone as knowledgable of TASing as HappyLee.
So strange that you commented after 9 years and at the same time HappyLee's movie is getting intentional no votes(feels like voting pole abuse has started with multiple accounts which is against the site rules)

Password and level selector might have different working but they do the same thing in most cases which is skipping levels I have an example: here is my run: https://tasvideos.org/969G It has 8 levels and 1 final boss But at the title screen you can enter a password and directly skip to the final boss and finish the game in less than 30 seconds and obsolete my 10m47s run and according your definition the real any% run should be this levels skipping TAS but it is not the case not even in RTA Category of this game and it shouldn't be allowed

It would mean any game with a level select system, whether it be a password or pressing a button at the title screen, could have its any% run obsoleted through usage of that level select. No speedrunning community, TAS or RTA, should be allowing this universally. We never have, we most likely never will.
Yes there are many games where you can use password at the title screen to directly skip to the final boss, which shouldn't be accepted as any% run.

Skipping levels by manual selection and passwords shouldn't be allowed in my opinion, however when I read the movie rules I found no such rule that author broke, Since there are no passwords used in this submission so the rule "You are not allowed to skip levels using passwords" can't be applied here but if we consider what Memory wrote(that rules were shortened for average users) then the rule "You are not allowed to skip levels using passwords" can be applied as its real sense was to not skip levels but why punish authors for not properly worded site rules ? In personally don't like skipping levels or major content of the game.

Did you test just playing the game without input file to see if its fault of input file or anything else ? Also adding the game to Dolphin's homescreen is quite important to TAS/play input recording in my experience I guess

Emulator freezes to me. CPU and graphic card: AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6, 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G
So sad that you are having issues with my TAS, I feel sorry to say that I have no solutions to suggest because i am not so techy person who can solve software related problems, the data which I can provide is after getting a fresh install of Dolphin 5.0-17269 I turned off "Dual core CPU acceleration" and started TASing, also this TAS synced for GMP . I have intel CPU and Nvidia GPU but I don't know if using AMD CPU and GPU is causing emulator freeze or not. Feel free ask anything to me

Quite coincidentally we started working on the same game at around the same time and ever since I heard about it I was eager to see the TAS. I knew exactly what skips I was in for but still everytime it brought a big smile seeing how quickly it was done and ofcourse the TAS twist to doing it even quicker. And ofcourse the movement in PoP Sands Trilogy is always entertaining by nature. I personally appreciate the category choice because we have had segmented runs for Any% NMG and All Collectibles NMG and this one fits nicely in the middle. Yes vote from me.
Thanks a lot for helping me by giving right suggestions when I was stuck in some really difficult skips.
