Presumably any%. 100% exists in Braid but there's a point where you have to wait for over two hours, and it'd be hard to make that long a wait entertaining.
Ultra-ultra fast forward mandatory in the encode? ;)

I'd try searching myself, but I don't know where to start looking since Mupen64 doesn't have RAM watch/search built in. I am guessing you know more about that than I do, Cronikeys.
Typically you use Memory Hacking Software ( http://www.memoryhacking.com/index.php ) on the program. The problem is that the memory addresses will change every time you re-open the emulator (because it will dynamically initialize it in a different place), but after finding one easy to find address again (HP is a common one) you can align everything. Then do RachelB's idea of finding addresses that show speed/angle, then searching for memory addresses that stay static holding a value within 1kb of that address.

It's unlikely that it's an emulation issue to move memory addresses around. Perhaps the addresses you're looking for are inconsistent because, now that you can control many different characters (banjo alone, kazooie alone, clockwork kazooies, etc) it now stores information about them dynamically?

Have you considered that speed/direction might be stored as a (normalized?) vector instead of as angle/magnitude?

Sockfolder got the entire glitched any% route in one run - 16:55. (He has never played the game before so his mechanics are bad XD) He has consistent strategies for EVERY part of the glitch, and it gives insight as to how they work in TAS conditions too. http://www.twitch.tv/sockfolder/b/380269395 9:07:30 for the start of the glitch in his successful run 9:23:40 after finishing the run, Sockfolder explains the exact setup for every part of the glitch

Voted yes, although I find this the most boring Juste any% run yet. Mainly because it doesn't show as much of the game as before and doesn't get the opportunity to whip launch off enemies. Good improvement, but I think I'll stick with the all furniture run. I find that one much more entertaining.
any% for speed, all furnitures for entertainment :)

But this raises grave concerns. What guidelines should be followed by speedrunners wanting to obsolete this run? If they decide to disagree on the specific details of what constitutes 100%, they get either a handicap or an advantage vs. Saturn. The choice of which things to include is too subjective. I really think this would be better as a playaround or something.
Two things come to mind: -If you were interested in improving the run, you'd discuss with the forum first any thoughts you have about things that should be added/removed as goals. -For sections that the two runs share in common, your run should always be as fast or faster.

tasvideos isn't for submitting any TAS you can make, but only a TAS that beats all existing records for that category + cannot be easily improven (OR is an exceptional playaround)

From watching sockfolder experiment with the glitch, it seems the angle of your flashlight arm, and how you swing it when getting hit, affects how you end up getting skewed. In addition, you can skew while already being skewed. http://www.twitch.tv/sockfolder

This run now has 145,000 views on nicovideo, and I am sure it is still rising :D Btw, does anyone know if nicovideo views can be added more than once by one person?

Isn't the only reason why nitsuja didn't implement mouse support is because he couldn't think of a good way to make mouse support go well with resizeable windows? If a 'hack' version of mouse support was implemented, shouldn't that do for the time being?

If the game plays the same on VBA and Bizhawk (the difference either being lag frames only or no difference), you could TAS it entirely on VBA and then get assistance porting it over to Bizhawk.

Have you tried to collect two souls from the first Golem? I ever collected a soul (inevitably) and a spear (randomly) from the first Armor Knight. If it is able to collect one more soul of Golem, it will save time.
I am almost certain you can't collect two souls from one kill.

Author's nicovideo encode: Nicovideo (account): http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm20323522 Nicovideo (no account): http://www.nicozon.net/watch/sm20323522 EDIT: Watched, looks solid from what I know of the game and I can't find a faster TAS. Yes vote. Would be interested to know information about route planning/mechanics/possible improvements, though.

(For what it's worth, I think the primary reason ponies were used in the original total control TAS was because it made it very, very obvious it was not an easter egg in the game, as ponies are a contemporary fad.)

If I understand it all correctly, the original "pony" version actually wrote a completely different "game" and loaded it using Yellow whereas this doesn't completely overwrite the game, it just arranges the memory in a way that creates dancing pi symbols and outputs pi to the screen in lockstep with the BGM... I'm not taking anything away from this run but completely overpowering the game with a new "game" has to account for something at least, IMO.
FractalFusion executed a program that allowed him to write directly from the game's input into RAM, so he could have rewrote Pokemon Yellow into anything but settled for making pi-themed graphics.

Aye. I realize my mistakes now. I had looked thoroughly for things like this, but apparently I didn't do good enough. Well, it seems like people want to see it done right, so I will try. I accept my rejection and will try again. I will also update my emulator, as well.
Keep on TASing :D
